S: Reflections on the Rosary
FC: Reflections on the Rosary By the 7th Grade Class Christ the King School 2011
This book is dedicated to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.
The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary The Annunciation | The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary and she conceived by the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary full of Grace the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
I would be standing by watching and wondering what she would say, "yes" or "no." I see Gabriel coming to Mary and Mary being afraid at first. I would be thinking if that was me and what I would say. I am in the heart of Mary. I think of babies and diapers. I see myself as a young girl in the trees having fun when everything turns bright and Gabriel appears. "The Lord is with thee" comes to mind, just saying that He will always be with us. I picture Mary being frightened and God comforting her as He does to me everyday. I am a rabbit in the forest. I see Mary and the angel Gabriel. What could they be talking about? They come closer, and I hear them. They are talking of a son from God. His name shall be Jesus. "Do unto me according to Thy Word" stuck in my head. Also, when we said the Hail Mary, "Holy Mary Mother of God, Pray for us sinners" stuck in my mind. I am the people in the city, and I am thinking about what Mary would be thinking right now and why did God pick her out of all of the people in the world.
The Second Joyful Mystery Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Blessed is she who trusted that the Lord's words to her would be fulfilled. | The Second Joyful Mystery The Visitation
I would be on the same path as Mary, and I would be helping her get to Elizabeth's home. I would see how tired she would be and how tough it would be for her. I am in the woods listening to their conversation. I think about my cousins and siblings. I see myself as a bird flying and seeing the happy people hugging and talking joyfully. God will help me through everything, even things that are painful. I would go with Mary to see her cousin. I would feel blessed and safe knowing I was in the presence of Jesus. The words, "Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus," seems perfectly. This gives me thoughts of when my family or friends tell everyone they are pregnant. Elizabeth is so astonished and so happy. I am watching Mary make the long journey to Elizabeth's house. Words like happiness and surprise are brought to my mind.
The Third Joyful Mystery The Birth of Our Lord ...and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
I am one of the shepherds. This reminds me of when my cousin was born. I picture myself as a shepherd proclaiming God and being thankful to God. I think of Jesus' love for his mom and the love she must have for him. When one of the three kings said, "I offer you my sacrifice," I want to give God my love and my whole being to do with as He pleases. I am Joseph with Mary in the shed. I see Mary giving birth to Jesus. The birth of Christ reminds me of when I see baby pictures of myself. I see God blessing Jesus right there. I see myself as a shepherd''s child. The words that stick out for me are, "Our Lord Jesus Christ."
The Fourth Joyful Mystery The Presentation of Our Lord | For my eyes have witnessed your saving deed, displayed for all the people to see.
I am like the people around the temple. I'm confused and surprised and amazed at the same time. I picture Mary and Joseph walking through the town with Jesus. I feel gratitude to be able to see Christ before I die like Simeon did. Thank you God for being with me and for being present in my life. I would see God in Jesus and watch Mary and Joseph bring him into the temple. I think of the words, "Lead us not into temptation." Mary said yes and she was happy. Mary brings Jesus to me in the temple. This is the son of God, a miracle. I'm one of the people in the crowd. I think of all the people who just touched Jesus and knew he was the son of God. I am watching the presentation in the pews. They present Emmanuel to the world. The words that come to mind are proud, confident. It reminds me of my baptism.
The Fifth Joyful Mystery The Finding of Jesus in the Temple | Why were you looking for me? Did you not know I must be in my Father's house?
I would be helping Mary and Joseph find Jesus. I would picture how scared Mary was when they were looking for him and how grateful she would feel when they found him. I am a Rabbi in Jerusalem. I am listening to this wonderful boy ask questions. These parents come and ask if he was any trouble. We all reply, no. From the moment I met him, I knew he was special. I imagine me as one of the people that heard Jesus talk. A word I think of is thankful. This is like when you get separated from your parents at the store. I am one of the people Jesus is preaching to. I think of the knowledge that Jesus has. I am a Rabbi seeing how scared Mary and Joseph are. "Blessed art Thou" really stuck. I am one of the teachers who are amazed and bewildered. I imagine what the teachers must be thinking and how worried Mary and Joseph are.
The Sorrowful Mysteries The Agony in the Garden | My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me. My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will. So you could not keep watch with me for one hour?
Hail Mary. We honor her and look up to her as the Mother of God. When we pray, we ask her to pray for us. I am in the garden looking and seeing what is happening. I see Mary and Jesus praying. I am in heaven thinking of Holy Communion. I am with Jesus praying in the garden. "Don't be afraid to suffer for doing the right thing. I picture myself with Jesus and praying, being scared and not knowing what will be done next, what the outcome will be for Jesus doing the right thing and not stopping his beliefs in his heart. I picture a lady crying in a garden. The words "at the hour of our death" come to mind. It feels depressing, sad, passionate, cold, suffering, dark, cornered, crying, tears, scary, love
"My kingdom does not belong to this world. My attendants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not here." So Pilot said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth." | The Second Sorrowful Mystery The Scourging at the Piller
I am crying and watching what the soldiers are doing to Jesus. Prayer and Mary are the words I think. I see Mary very sad and worried. "Deliver us from evil" I see Jesus praying while they are whipping him. Jesus is being tortured. Mary is crying at his feet. Someone right next to him is thinking why can't it be me instead. I'm watching them hit Jesus. I hear the pain and sadness he is going through. I picture why do this to one man who hasn't done anything? "Why?" I feel really bad for Jesus that he had to be tortured and whipped. Mary must feel so depressed learning that her own son was being hurt so badly.
The Third Sorrowful Mystery The Crowning with Thorns They clothed him in purple and weaving a crown of thorns, placed it on him. They began to salute him with, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
I am watching as they crown Him with thorns. The soldiers are laughing at Him. He just silently stood there. I am standing there watching in pain. Lord, we do not know your power and wisdom. I am at the place where Jesus was. I am sad, mad, worried. It is bad to think about how they treated Him. How they treated Him was cruel and evil. That would be so painful to wear a crown of thorns and not say anything. I see Jesus feeling pain and getting whipped. They are mocking and making fun of Him. Say something! He struggles but has perseverance.
Jesus turned to them and said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children. | The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery The Carrying of the Cross
Mary seeing her beloved baby die and being tortured. She stood in silence hurt and crying and terrified inside. Jesus carrying his heavy cross in pain on the way to death. I am watching as they place the cross on Jesus' shoulders. I think of how heavy that cross might be and how hard it would be to carry it. I am watching Jesus and I can't do anything. I would help if I could. I see Jesus carrying a heavy cross and his mother crying. I am on a long path to Calvary. This reminds me of one of Father's homilies when he talked about taking up your own cross. People are yelling at him as he carries his cross. We should treat others how we would want to be treated, not cruelly. I see Jesus slowly dying and suffering while Mary is crying.
The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery The Crucifixion Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.
I am in church praying to Jesus, thanking Him for all he did just for us. I picture myself watching and crying because of how much it would have hurt. If it was me, it would have been hard to forgive the soldiers. Mary, blood, ropes, death, nails, Jesus, suffer, soldiers, buckets of tears, pain, white, yellow, holes, faith, love I am nervous and worried. I am crying. The words forgiveness, love, and care come to mind. I see Mary crying. I see Jesus suffering but still praying. I see Jesus dying slowly and painfully. All of the people are crying because of the pain.
The First Glorious Mystery The Resurrection | Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said.
I'm in the room listening. I think of the people who don't believe in Jesus and I think of Jesus. I am walking by Jesus' tomb and watching him rise up into the heavens. All the people who have passed away will rise to heaven or are in purgatory. I am a bird watching Jesus with the light shining down. I am a man that has seen the Lord. I am filled with joy and want to tell everyone I see even if I don't know them or if they don't believe in God. I'm Peter proclaiming that Jesus is risen. I see Jesus on top of his grave proclaiming to the people that he is alive and has risen from the dead. I think about hope and faith. I picture myself being one of the apostles. His love is undying and it is proven here.
The Second Glorious Mystery The Ascension All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
I am a nearby bird. I see that a miracle has just happened and the words courage and strength come to mind because He gave so much to us. I see happiness and joy. I am a bunny hopping across the field. MyFather Almighty, this is when Jesus comes back from the dead. I think of a rainbow. I have found the empty tomb. I think of new hope. I picture myself as an apostle. The resurrection is very surprising and gives me hope and faith. It was hard to believe He had really risen, but we need to trust in God and believe in miracles. During the "Our Father," the words on earth really stuck in my head. I wonder why Thomas didn't believe?I am a disciple putting my fingers through Jesus' wounds. I want to talk to Jesus. I think of "I believe in God the Father, Almighty because Jesus said, "Blessed are those who have not seen and still believe."
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. | The Third Glorious Mystery The Descent of the Holy Spirit
I am a disciple. As we all prayed in a room, the door flew open and the Holy Spirit was in our presence. I can picture tongues of fire over the heads of the disciples. They are able to preach in many different languages. The Holy Spirit is present in me. I am wondering if anyone else is having the same feeling as me and that feeling is happiness. Fireballs came from the heavens! This is what Jesus meant. I am scared and filled with joy. I picture a dove coming down with fire around it. I also think of people that can speak different languages. I am like one of the people listening to the disciples speak. I'm amazed and confused. How is this possible?
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. | The Fourth Glorious Mystery The Assumption of Our Lady
I'm with her going to God. I think of flying, Mary, space, and heaven, and how long it takes to get there. I am an angel with Mary as she is rising up to her son in heaven. I think about if I will go to heaven and join the Lord. I am a simple friend of Mary and I am glad to see she has been reunited with God and her son again. I am an apostle carrying Mary to her grave. I see Jesus and angels telling Mary to rise into heaven for all eternity. I am someone who just heard the news about Mary. She and the angels are meeting up with her son. Mary makes everyone happy and puts herself last. I am a child watching that beautiful lady float into heaven.
The Fifth Glorious Mystery The Coronation of Our Lady The mighty one has done great things for me and holy is His name
This proves that Mary had faith, was humble and pure. I am an angel in heaven with Mary. I think of joy when I think of the coronation. I am an angel who can see this beautiful mother of God being crowned queen of heaven. It gives me faith in God and knowing He is wonderful. "The Lord is with thee" stuck out during the Hail Mary. I am a bird flying overhead watching. I am in heaven with Mary and everyone else. I think of, "Pray for us sinners" because Mary said yes to God. I am an angel watching Mary being crowned with stars around her head and the moon at her feet.
The First Luminous Mystery The Baptism in the Jordan | Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world
I am John, nervous and confused. Why would Jesus take that role? I am there in the water waiting to get baptized. "You will be baptized by me." I think that without this, we could not be following Jesus. I picture the Holy Spirit moving among the people as Jesus is being baptized. Jesus doesn't need to be cleansed. He is already perfect. "Blessed are the fruit of thy womb Jesus" come to mind. Jesus got baptized even though he didn't need to. Everyone is surrounding Jesus watching him get baptized I was in the crowd watching Jesus. I see a man kneeling in the water as another man takes water and pours it onto the man and says a prayer.
The Second Luminous Mystery The Wedding Feast at Cana | "They have no wine." "Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever He tells you."
Jesus decides to help the young couple and turn water into wine. This is considered his first miracle. I am at the wedding surprised. I picture all of the people who didn't believe in Jesus after that. I am concerned. God does not change his mind. "Do whatever He tells you" is advice from the Blessed Lady. Mary as a creature spoke those words. I picture with the touch of his hands, he made a miracle. I like how Jesus wasn't just serious. He could have fun and go to a wedding. But to do a miracle is beyond words. People are filled with joy and astonishment at what Jesus did. I see myself watching Jesus changing water into wine. I think of Mary's words, "Do whatever He tells you."
The Third Luminous Mystery The Proclamation of the Kingdom The Kingdom of God is at hand.
Jesus is holding his disciples and me. I think of a campfire in a forest. I listen. He is giving a speech. He is proclaiming the good news. I felt his presence. When God is talking to us we need to listen to what He says. We all bow down to Him as king. Jesus is crowded by some of his best friends. I am at church confessing my sins to God. The words, "The Lord is with Thee" stick out. Jesus is everywhere. He can call us at any time.
While He was still speaking a cloud came over them. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my chosen son, listen to him." | The Fourth Luminous Mystery The Transfiguration
You can spend your life looking toward it, or looking back upon it. Trust and Believe We have to take up our cross. God will come. Jesus wants everyone to follow Him but you have to chose to follow him. I am relaxed at the transfiguration. We need to pay more attention to our prayer. I am praying with Him. We are all on our knees.
The Fifth Luminous Mystery The Institution of the Eucharist | While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to His disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body."
This sacrament is most important because it binds Jesus and humans together. It is also a reminder every Sunday how holy and sacred his body is. At the Last Supper, Jesus takes the bread and wine and turns it into His body and blood. Each day we will grow more deeply in His love. This reminds me that Christ is always present with us through the Eucharist. How amazing this is! The Eucharist binds together a life of a Christian and is a very powerful sacrament. I imagine receiving the Eucharist by God. I am at church watching Father turn the bread into the body of Christ. This reminds me to do good always. The Eucharist is the most important part of the mass because it means He is present.
