 12 months | October 21 - November 20, 2010

Oct. 22, 2010 - The best thing in the world is snuggling with you!! You are so affectionate, love to cuddle and give lots of hugs and kisses. I love it when you wrap your little arms around me, lay your head on my chest and hold me tight... there's no better feeling! It's so funny when dad and I are kissing or hugging each other because you just stare at us as if to say....."Where are my hugs and kisses?" And then you want in on some of the lovin!! You are off the boob!! It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and wasn't painful for me at all. You are now on formula as well as all the food you eat all day long. You had your first hotdog today and loved it!!

Great Grandma and Grandpa bought you this adorable rocking chair. As soon as you saw it you had the biggest smile on your face, and wanted to sit in it. You figured out very quickly how to use it and sat in it for quite awhile rocking back and forth and giggling with excitement, it was so cute!! You sit in it all the time.

My first BIG girl car seat | Look at life through the windshield, not the rear-view mirror.

Your favorite shows are Barney and Sesame Street | Oct. 26, 2010 - Every morning when you get up, the first thing you do is lay on either the floor or the couch with all your blankets and your bottle and watch TV. It's so nice that you can hold your bottle by yourself now, especially at night. I just give you a bottle, tuck you in and you go to sleep. You are only getting up once in the middle of the night for a bottle and then you go right back to sleep. You are going to bed between 7 - 8 p.m. up once around 4:00 am and then back to sleep until 9 - 9:30 a.m. So you are averaging about 12 hours a night.

 Learning to use a fork

 Pizza | Pizza

Oct. 30, 2010 - You're a little monkey and have figured out how to get on and off the couch by yourself. Your little chairs are usually up against the couch so you use them as a stepping stool to get onto the furniture. You have fallen off a few times but nothing serious. You love hanging out on the couch and flipping through the channels with the remote.

 Quality time with daddy

 2010

 Pumpkin Carving 101

I took you out trick or treating in the Penguin costume that Uncle Rod and Auntie Deb bought you. You didn't really now what Halloween was all about so after about half an hour we came home.

Touching SNOW for the first time

 A visit home to Edgewood

 Sharing toast with Grandpa

 13 months | November 21 - December 20, 2010

Nov. 23, 2010 - You are standing up on your own and still learning how to walk. You are kind of lazy when it comes to walking and only do it when you want to!! If try and force you to walk you just get mad and have a temper tantrum. Oh yes.. you have tantrums!!! Daddy is really pushing you to walk but I keep telling him that you will do it in your own time and to quit pushing you because I'm the one that has to chase you around all day when you do start walking!! Lately you have been walking on your knees... ouch!! It's the funniest thing. | Your first pair of Levis

You love that your daddy actually gets down on the floor and plays with you!! The other night it was so cute... you were both concentrating so hard on building something and then out of the blue, you crawled over to him and gave him a big kiss! Then you gave him another one and another one... five times in a row. I think it was your way of saying, "Thank you for playing with me daddy!" | Your favorite thing to do, besides read, is play with your mega blocks. Every night you and daddy spend about an hour on the floor building tall towers. This was one of your birthday presents and it has been a big hit, but I think daddy likes them more than you do. Every time he is building something he complains that the 100 pieces aren't enough to build something great, so I went out and bought him another box (100) of blocks just to keep him happy... boys and their toys!! hahaha

I love this age, you are such a little character and so much fun!

Dec. 4, 2010 - You poor little thing, you are getting 4 teeth in at once!! You are not a happy girl these days. I have been giving you lots of pain relievers to help with the discomfort but it's just not a nice time for you. To help you fall asleep, you love it when I massage your head. I rub behind your ears, down along your jaw line, and over your temples. It really relaxes you and usually puts you right to sleep. | THE JOYS OF TEETHING

You love to play with laptops but prefer to play with mine rather than your own!! Every time you touch my computer I say, "No, that's mommies, where's Cali's laptop?" You don't like being told that you can't play with mine and usually put up a stink but once we get you all set up with yours, everything is good....

 Playing Dress Up

You have an obsession with wearing clothes on your head!!! It's hilarious!! I have to make sure I don't leave my underwear lying around because you stick that over your head and wear it to!!!

Come on.... | let's go outside!!

Your first snowmobile ride | We took you for a ride on the snowmobile for your first time and you loved it!! We rode for about 45 minutes and you didn't make a peep. You just sat with me in your snugly and enjoyed the ride. It was a really slow ride because we didn't have helmet's on. The one that Auntie Deb bought you is to big and heavy so we need to buy you a lighter one that you can use now.

Your new helmet and goggles for snowmobiling and quadding. We ended up buying a ski helmet because it's nice and light. Every time you ride your bike in the house I make you wear your helmet to get use to it and you actually don't mind. | We should make you wear your helmet all the time since you are going through a suicide stage. You are climbing on everything and anything and not being careful about it at all!! hahaha It is very scary, but you think it's pretty funny.

Helping mommy put up the Christmas decorations | Dec 12, 2010- You took your first two steps from the couch today!!

 Christmas on Baker Street

The best thing to hold onto in life is.... each other

 Happy Holidays 2010

 Christmas 2010

 14 months | Dec 21, 2010 - Jan 20, 2011

Uncle Rod & Auntie Deb bought you a JOHN DEERE wagon for Christmas

Dec. 25, 2010 - This year we decided to have a nice quiet Christmas at home, just the three of us. Dad has a week off of work so we have just been hanging out at home and sleeping in every morning. You still sleep until 9:30 every morning, so it has been really nice for all of us to sleep in together over the holidays.

Your favorite gift was from Grandpa Taaler... just a plain old box of crayon's and coloring book!! You sat there for half an hour coloring in your book. I don't know why we didn't think to buy you these?? You are always playing with pens and wanting to write with them, we should have clued in that you just wanted to draw and needed something to do it with!! We think that you are going to be left handed. You always use your left hand to draw and do other things. Grandpa also gave dad this hilarious book.

Road trip to Grandma & Grandpa's

After the holidays you were pooped right out and slept from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 a.m. 14 hours straight. Sometimes in the mornings we will bring you into our bed and just hang out for a while. One morning you leaned over and gave daddy a good morning kiss and then leaned over and gave me a morning kiss, it was the sweetest thing!! You know how to say ma-ma and da-da and walk around the house all day calling da-da. You miss him when he is at work and are always so happy to see him when he walks in the door at the end of the day! The only other word you say is "hot" I think it's the first word you learnt because we are always telling you the wood stove is "hot" and your food is "hot" | You have definitely picked this bad habit up from me!!! I am on the phone a lot during the day talking to my girlfriends and when I'm not on the phone, you are!!! You can sure talk up a storm to, you go on and on having your own little conversation, laughing and having a good old time. It's so funny!! Dad doesn't think it's very funny when he can't phone home during the day because the line is busy all the time....lol | Always on the phone!

Jan 2, 2011 - You walked for the first time tonight!! We were just hanging out in the living room watching TV and you got up and decided that you were going to walk. It wasn't just a few steps either... you just kept walking and walking for about 5 minutes straight. You were doing laps in the kitchen and down the hallway, it was the funniest thing!! It's like you have known all along how to do it but just wanted to do it in your own time. We are both so proud of you and had the biggest smiles on our faces!! | Your first steps!!

Now that you know how to walk... you don't STOP!! | You have an awful rash on your back and we're not sure what it is or what caused it. You have had it for about a week now and we think it might be eczema. I took you to the Dr. to see what he thought and he figured it was some sort of eczema and said to keep it moisturized. He said that lots of babies get this and it usually does go away. The rash did go away after about a week and I'm pretty sure it was caused from the bubble bath I was putting in your water. I use to get rashes from it to and had to stop having bubbles baths. You weigh 22 pounds right now.

The Eckert's | Chicken Divan | 4 boneless chicken breasts - 3/4 cup mayo - 1 can cream of mushroom soup - 1/2 cup milk - 1tsp curry powder 2 heads fresh broccoli - 1 cup grated cheddar cheese. | 350 | 1 hour | In the kitchen with mommy | Cook chicken and cube. Cut and steam broccoli. Mix soup, mayo and milk. Layer broccoli, chicken, and soup in a casserole dish. Top with grated cheese. Cover and cook

 My first fudgesicle

 Tumble-weeds

Jan 20, 2011 - We went to our first play group today, Tumble weeds. I always said that I would never go to these types of things but oh my god... if I would have know that this is what they were like, I would have been coming a long time ago!! What a great place for kids to interact with other kids and a great break for mommies and a chance to meet other mothers. From the minute we got to the play group you were gone and I didn't see you again for an hour and a half!! You were off playing with the all the other kids and having a blast!! You are such a little people person... I love it!!

 15 months | January 21 - February 20, 2011

 Our little Monkey

 Chocolate Pudding ;)

You love peanut butter...not on toast or any other way...just the peanut butter. This isn't the first time I have given you peanut butter. I gave it to you before you were one. I didn't follow the rule "Don't give your child peanut butter before they are one" I figure if your going to have an allergic reaction to it it's not going matter what age you are!! You haven't had any reactions to it yet. You are pretty much eating whatever we eat now and will eat anything and everything we put in front of you. You are doing really well with your spoon and fork and don't want us helping you at all, you get quite irritated if we try and help you. Lately you haven't had much of an appetite which is not normal for you but you are getting two molars in at once so we figure that's why you aren't eating much these days. | Finger lickin good!!

You know where your eyes, ears, mouth, nose, head, belly button and toes are.

 16 months | February 21 - March 20, 2011

Your getting your first set of molars so you are miserable, not eating much, sleeping a lot more than usual, have a constant runny nose and have been sooooo cuddly. All you want to do all day is snuggle and be held. You have been very good though. I can't imagine what it feels like to be getting teeth in but I'm sure it is very painful and you have handled it like a star!!

Cali & Lavina | Little friends

We have been going to lots of play groups and usually go 2-3 times a week. This is Strong Start and it is a great free program!! It runs from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The first hour is free play then there is a snack provided for all the kids and then everyone heads to the gym for more playtime. You love these groups and we have both made lots of new friends.

Pooped out from all that playing!

You are sleeping through the night 90% of the time and usually sleep for 12 hours. The odd time you wake up in the middle of the night for a bottle but its usually because you are cutting a tooth or having a growth spurt. Whenever you are cutting a tooth you seem to need a lot more formula. I don't know if its just a comfort thing or what but it keeps you happy. I am going to start you on homo milk soon. May 15, 2011 - You have your first cough... it sounds awful. I thought it might be croop so I took you to the Dr. but he said your lungs and everything look good and it's just a common virus. I keep the humidifier going all the time in your room which helps a lot and have been rubbing your feet with Oil of Oregano, we will just have to wait it out.

Learning | You love to learn and know what all the pictures are in this book when we ask you to point to them.

Sharing | You are also great at sharing and love sharing your toys or your food with everyone.

 March 21 - April 20, 2011 | 17 months

Cleaning your house while your kids are still growing... is like shoveling the walk before it stops snowing

Mommy's little helper! | You love helping out with all the chores around the house and like to vacuum, sweep the floors, do laundry, and yard work. But your favorite chore is helping me unload the dishwasher. You pass me the dishes and I put them away. Let's hope you will still want to help out this much when you are a teenager!!

You are getting up in the morning between 7:30 - 8:30 and then down for a two hour nap around 12:00-1:00. You are so good at going to bed... we just say " Cali, where's your monkey? Let's get Marvin (Dad named him that) and go to bed. You give us both a kiss goodnight, grab your monkey and bottle and head straight down to your bedroom, it's so cute!! You don't always go to sleep right away but you will just hang out in your crib talking to yourself until you fall asleep. April 12, 2011 - We woke up to you crying in the middle of the night so I went in to check on you and... OMG!!!!! The smell in your bedroom almost made me pass out!! You had pooped from one end of your bed to the other. I called your dad for help because I was gagging but even the both of us couldn't handle the smell. I put you in the tub and your dad wiped down your crib from top to bottom. The rest of the night consisted of getting up with you every few hours, changing your bedding from the diahrea and washing bed sheets, it was the worst thing ever!! The next day you continued to poop every hour and it was like water. You weren't eating or drinking anything just pooping and sleeping. This went on for a few days and we were starting to worry that you were dehydrated because you still hadn’t eatin or drank anything in days. I phoned a friend who's daughter had just gone through something very similar, and she told me that the Dr. told her to give pedia- lite and get as many liquids in the body as possible. I had to force feed you the pedia-lite with a syringe as you did not want to drink. It was so awful and my poor little girl was just not herself. After a brutal 7 days you started to get back to your normal self and I found out soon after that a strain of the Norwalk virus was going around and that is probably what you had!!

 CALI &

You are so smart and it amazes me how much you know even though you only say a few words. Anytime we ask or tell you to do something you know exactly what we mean and you do it, most of the time, hahaha. The other day you wanted go outside and I said " If you want to go outside you need to put your coat and shoes on." You didn't like that and had a little fit throwing your muffin on the floor. I told you to pick it up and you nodded your head "no" so I said, " I'm going to count to three and you need to pick up your muffin." When I got to three you picked it up and did what you were told but not without a fight. I am using time-outs and the 1,2,3 technique for disciplining and it has been working great! When you do get a time out for not listening you just sit there like you are suppose to for 1 minute. I couldn't believe the first time I tried it and you actually just sat there!!! Like I said you are a lot smarter than we know!! For the most part you are very good and don't need a lot of time-outs, we are very lucky.

Your going to be a BIG sister! | April 9, 2011 - Grandma and Grandpa Darychuk came for a visit and while they were here I took a pregnancy test. I was pretty sure I was pregnant again when I missed my period and it had been a few weeks. We are very excited to have another addition to the family and give you a little brother or sister to grow up with!!

 18 months | April 21 - May 20, 2011

Nothing Is So Beautiful As Spring

"You'll wake up on Easter morning, and you'll know that he was there, when you find those chocolate bunnies, that he's hidden everywhere"

"Bunnies are brown. Bunnies are white. Bunnies are always an Easter delight. Bunnies are cuddly the large and the small. but I like the chocolate ones best of all."

There's Auntie Deb spoiling you again!! A few weekends ago you had your first sleep over with her and Uncle Rod. You were so good for them and had so much fun that you didn't even miss us... lol When we came to pick you up the next day you didn't even care that we were there to pick you up.

 My first pedicure

 First time at the fair!

You are such a little dare devil and will try anything!! You were more than willing to try any ride you could get on at the fair and loved them. Auntie Hollis enjoyed taking you on the all the rides.

You are constantly talking up a storm and are quite the chatter box! Half the time we have no idea what you are saying but once in awhile you will say a word that we understand. You know how to say; apple, up, oh oh, no, bye bye and hi. Every time you see or walk past someone you always say "Hi" as if you know them and they are your friends. It puts a big smile on there face every time!! You are such a little social butterfly and love people.

 Your favorite girls.....Molly and Eva

 Kaslo, B.C.

May long weekend 2011 | Good Times!!

 i love chalk

You are starting to copy everything we do and pick up on things very quickly!! You are a very good listener and we usually only have to ask you once to do something and you do it. Your favorite word right now is "no". Whenever we ask you if you want something you say "no" unless it's something that you really want then you nod your head up and down for yes. Your eye teeth are coming in so you haven't been yourself but you have been pretty good considering.

 Needles Ferry - Edgewood B.C.

First boat ride of the season!!

Helping daddy pack the cooler up from the boat.

Girls just wanna have... | FUN!!

You love wearing your helmet and whenever or whatever your riding you always put it on!!

 20 months | June 21 - July 20, 2011

We are so lucky to live a stone throw away from the lake. We go down to the beach every day and sometimes a few times a day. You love hanging out with the girls and getting right in the water with them, you're not afraid at all. You are so funny when you are trying to get in the water. You dip your little bum in and then come up and say " brrrrrrrrr"..... ( it is cold!!) | summer

July long weekend 2011 - Glacier Creek

"What happens at camp, stays at camp"

 Christina Lake | July 2011

21 months | July 21 - August 20, 2011 | Every child is a different kind of little flower, and all together they make this world a beautiful garden.

You are such a snuggle bug and love to cuddle up with your blankets whenever you can. Remington likes to snuggle to and takes every opportunity he can get to join you. You love the dogs so much and are always running around the house calling "Emma". You can't say Remington yet but he loves you just the same. You love to help me feed the dogs, so everyday that is your little chore. | Snuggle Bug

 Beach Baby

 Syringa Creek Campground, Castlegar

You have taught yourself how to ride a scooter!!! I was shocked one day when you just picked up the neighbors scooter and started pushing yourself around on it. You have watched all the older kids in the park do it and figured you could give it a go. You now have your own scooter and love to ride around with the other girls. You are such a little social butterfly and spend a lot of time outside with the neighbor kids. Riding a scooter isn't the only thing you have learnt from the other kids.... you are now saying "mine" which I don't like and am teaching you that it isn't a nice word to say!! I know this is only the first of many words you will come home with that aren't nice...lol You are talking more and more every day and copy everything we say. We only have to say a word once and you repeat it. You say mommy about 1000 times a day so by the end of the day I am mommied out!!

 Mike and Lorna's Wedding

Camped at Glacier Creek for a week in August....

lots of fun in the sun with friends!!

Auntie Sarah, Auntie Jen and your cousin Nevaeh came for a little family reunion on the August long weekend. It was nice for all of us to be together as we don't get to see each other very often.

 Annual Taaler Reunion

 Big Rock

 Kids in a candy store

We went to Chubby's in Clancy, Montana where the prime rib steaks are 22 ounces!! They were huge and came served on a separate plate than the rest of the meal!! So good!!

 23 months | September 21 - October 21, 2011

I was just going to let you start using the potty when you were ready but then I realized that I didn't want two babies in diapers at the same time ... so here we go!! I brought your potty into the living room, let you run around naked, and every 20-30 minutes asked you if you had to pee. On the first day you went pee quite a few times and after a few days you were going on the potty without me even asking. By the fourth day you were a pro and you even pooped on the potty for the first time!! You are doing awesome and I couldn't be more proud of you, you make every thing so easy!! Every once in awhile you have an accident but otherwise you are using the potty all the time. We still put a diaper on for naps and bedtime. You ended up getting an awful rash on your privates. We just thought it was a really bad diaper rash but it ended up being a yeast infection. I didn't even think babies could get yeast infections but apparently it is quite common?? The Dr. prescribed some hydro-cortisone and the rash was gone in a few days. You are so funny... whenever you or someone else toot's you say " Poop"? Dad passed gas the other night and you checked out his bum and said..Daddy poop???" It's hilarious!! | Once upon a potty...

Dogs leave paw prints on your heart.

Our first "Sneak Peak" of your baby sister! | We took a trip to Kelowna to get a 4D ultrasound of the new baby. We all met for lunch and then headed to Sneak A PeekE We are so excited to be having another girl and a little playmate for you. During the ultrasound everything is put on a big screen TV so we can see the baby moving around....you were so funny and all you kept saying was "ewww baby, baby ewwww!!!" You gave us all a good laugh!
