39: A Prayer for Priests O Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Christ, and for love of Him Who is the eternal High-priest, have pity on Thy priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the Bishop's hands. Keep them close to Thee, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation. O Jesus, I pray Thee for Thy faithful and fervent priests; for Thy unfaithful and tepid priests; for Thy priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Thy tempted priests; for Thy lonely and desolate priests; for Thy young priests; for Thy aged priests; for Thy sick priests; for Thy dying priests; for the souls of Thy priests in Purgatory. But above all I commend to Thee the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Thy Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed or helped me and encouraged me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, particularly Father Burfitt. Jesus, keep them all close to Thy heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen. Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests. Amen. Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen
40: "When we go before the Blessed Sacrament let us open our heart; our good God will open His. We shall go to Him; He will come to us; the one to ask, the other to receive. It will be like a breath from one to the other." -The Cure` of Ars
41: Our Dearest Father, There are not words sufficient enough to thank you. If only we could express what the Sacred Heart accomplished in our souls through you, His humble instrument. It was as though after finally having caught sight of our King in the person of His priest, we burned with the desire to love Him; and in loving Him, longed to serve. It is true there remains within us many failings -- perhaps there always will. But after seven years we have surely learned that the merciful Heart of our Savior is meek and humble and ever so patient with our trying. Father, we beg your prayers for the grace to "persevere" in this battle we have only just begun to fight. Like faithful children may we always seek after that which is true and noble, despite the cost. With the help of Our Sorrowful Mother at the foot of the cross, may we learn to live our Mass everyday as you taught us and find through her the strength to embrace the cross in whatever way God chooses to present it. We Remain, In the Hearts of Our Lord and Our Lady, Your Devoted Children Our Lady of Sorrows Parish | "When we see a priest, we should think of Our Lord Jesus Christ."
