S: East Coast Vacation 2008

2008 East Coast Vacation May 29 - June 9: York, PA Philadelphia, PA New York, NY Washington, DC Berlin, MD

Indian Echo Caverns Hummelstown, PA The caverns are located along the east bank of the Swatara Creek. We had to walk down 71 steps get to the cavern's entrance!

The stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones and crystal clear lakes were beautiful! It was only 52 degrees in the caverns! It was hard to imagine the "Pennsylvania Hermit" lived in the caverns for 19 years!

There are 3 lakes in the caverns. They are all very clear and cool! | The formations are over 500 million years old!

We were over 100 feet under ground while in the caverns! We were under both the flag pole and school house. It seemed like we were in a different world!

It rained and rained on Saturday! The track was a total mess! Riders were slipping & sliding all over the place! | You & I stayed in the hotel on Saturday because it was so wet. We rented a movie, played games and had pizza for lunch!

Sutter competed in a BMX race in York, PA. He got 2nd in open on Saturday and 1st place in open & 3rd in class on Sunday! | oopps! Sutter crashed on Sunday! His bike went over the berm and he got some gross looking road rash on his arm!

We visited Hershey's Chocolate World after your BMX practice. There was soooo much chocolate there it was crazy - there was a section for every kind of candy they make!

We went on a tour & learned how they make their chocolate and candy. | We love the Reese's! The machine that makes the "kisses" was running at full steam!

York is an old fashioned town compared to Rocklin! | We all got a good laugh out of this place! Gas was pretty expensive!

We drove from York to New York. It took about 3 1/2 hours! The scenery was beautiful, very country like! | We saw many traditional styles of homes & buildings. A lot of brick was used.

Next we were in New York City!

We just happened to be in our room while they were taping an episode of Bridezillas! | This was the view from our room in Times Square!

The boys took the subway to Yankee Stadium

The Girls went to the American Girl Place stores & walked around the city

Rockerfeller Plaza: "Top of the Rock" was awesome!

We saw a lot on the Circle Line Cruise.....

Times Square was incredible! | There were people & ads everywhere! | What color M&M are you???

...The Naked Cowboy... | ...The Hard Rock Cafe... ...these are the edges of guitars... | Sutter playing Wii at the Nintendo store | Nachos! Need I say more???

Philadelphia, PA | The Liberty Bell

There is a lot of "history" here!

We went to Pat's for lunch....you kids did not care for Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, but Dad & Mom thought they were pretty good! | Silly Kids!

We then drove to Berlin, MD to Grandpa George and Grandma Kandi's house. | You & Buddy | Sutter & Geoff | The Choisser Boys

A little time on the golf course for the guys

Ocean City Boardwalk was a blast! | The kids LOVED the beach!

Asateaque Island Beach, where wild horse roam free.... | Where are dad's feet??

 ...and the sand crabs too!

Dad taught Sutter & Michaela how to body board...too bad he had the van key in his pocket...it shorted out & we had to call AAA to get in. Not fun at all! | Guess we should have used more sunscreen!

You had fun playing in the Atlantic Ocean with Dad! You (and Sutter) tried a little boggie boarding! It was fun but hurt when you slide off!

Washington DC was next! It was a really, really (did I say really) hot and muggy day!

The Musuem was awesome! (and had air conditioning!)

Yum! Home-made salsa! We all pitched in to make it!
