FC: Era 8 Mixbook | Post-World War II United States (1945-1989) | By: Daniel Desnoyer

To my history teachers, Mr.W and Mr.M, because they taught me everything I needed to know to put on the Mixbook

 The Civil Rights Movement

The Civil Rights movement was a time where many different groups of people protested in order to try and receive their rights. This includes women and minorities.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a very important figure during the civil rights movement for African Americans.

Women also protested for their rights during the civil rights movement.

The Cold War (1940s-1990s) | Half of this flag is the US flag, and the other half is the Soviet Union's flag. It sort of helps to understand who this war was between.

The cold war was a time of tension between the United States and the Soviet Union. | Its called the Cold War because the United States and Soviet Union never really got into a fight. The closest the U.S. got to fighting with the Soviet Union was in the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cold War started because the Soviet Union and the United States wanted to see who was more powerful, although there was little large-scale fighting between the two sides. The two sides disliked each other, and always though that one side was planning something against the other. Each side always wanted to be better than the other, so when one side achieved something big, the other side wanted to achieve something bigger and better. Each side also kept trying to get more weapons than the other, although this was pointless because there was little fighting in this war.

The Marshall Plan | <--- The picture to the left is a label that was put on Marshall Plan aid packages | The Marshall Plan was created to send money and aid to Europe to help them rebuild. Because of this there was huge economic growth in Europe.

The Truman Doctrine | The Truman Doctrine was created to provide political, military, and economic aid to countries that were in danger of becoming communist territories. An example of how this worked was the US provided support for the Greek government because it was in danger of communism. | The Truman Doctrine was established by President Harry S. Truman, who can be seen in the picture to the left.

End of the Cold War | The cold ended in 1991 with the collapse of the Soviet Union

 Domestic Policies

Roosevelt's New Deal | Modern Republicanism | New Frontier | Liberal | War on Poverty | Fair Deal | Dynamic Conservatism | Warren Court

The New Deal | The New Deal was a plan made by President Franklin Roosevelt that was intended to bring economic relief, recovery, and reforms to the country after the Great Depression.
