 Table of Contents

Geometry Basics | A pattern is a set of shapes or numbers that repeats itself. | An intersection is the point or points that the figures have in common. | A postulate is a statement that is accepted without further justification.

 Pattern | Intersection

Angles and Measures | Right angles | are angles with the measure 90 degrees | An | obtuse angle is an angle with a measure more than 90 degrees

Acute angles are angles with measures less than 90 degrees | Right Angle

Angle and Segment Bisectors | Angle Bisectors | are rays that divide angles into two congruent angles

A segment bisector | is a segment, ray, line, or plane that intersects a segment at its midpoint | O is the midpoint

Types of Angles | Complementary angles are two angle whose measurements are the sum of 90 | the lines on this fence are similar to a complementary angle | Supplementary angles are angles whose measures are the sum of 180

Supplementary Angles | Vertical angles are two angles that are not adjacent and whose sides are formed by two intersecting lines | a, b, c, and d are all vertical angles | the hands on this clock represent supplementary angles

Parallel Lines | Parallel lines are two lines that lie in the same plane and do not intersect. | the columns on this building are parallel

Angles Formed by Transversals | Corresponding angles are angles that are in the same position | c and a | E | Same side interior angles areTwo angles that are formed by two lines and a transversal. | a and e

Perpendicular Lines | Perpendicular lines are two lines that intersect to form a right angle.

The stripes in this plaid are perpendicular

Acute angles are triangles with three acute angles | Triangles

An obtuse triangle is a triangle with one obtuse angle. | A right triangle is a triangle with one right angle.

 The Pythagorean Theorem is a2+b2=c2

The distance formula is if A(x1, y1) and B(x2, y2) are points in a coordinate plane, then the distance between A and B is (xx)2(yy)2. 212

Congruent triangles are triangles that are exactly the same. | Congruent Triangles

 ASA | HL | AAA
