FC: John Quincy Adams
3: Symptoms of a Locked Jaw | A cartoon created after the election of 1824, depicting John Quincy Adams' "Corrupt Bargain" by showing fellow presidential candidate, Henry Clay, sewing Thomas Jefferson's mouth up. Because no one won the majority of the electoral votes, the Presidential decision was brought to the House of Representatives. Due to the fact that Jefferson had won the popular vote, it was assumed he would win. However, runner-up Adams and Clay made a deal, where Clay would turn his supporters to support Adams, giving him the House majority and effectively sewing Jefferson's mouth shut.

5: Foreign Affairs | John Quincy Adams did not believe that the United States should interfere with European affairs, but should instead focus on protecting themselves. Adams' belief system is reflected heavily on President Monroe's Foreign Policy Doctrine, which makes sense as he was acting as Secretary of the State at the time. In addition Adams also ratified American claims to the Oregon Country, however Foreign Affairs did not play a key roll in his own administration.
