Dear Kate, Or should I say momma P. I have learnt why you are considered to be momma P throughout this season! You were a great leader and at times you were the mother figure when needed. Thank you for the help during those sleepless nights. You have helped me and guided me on the right path to be a great competitor, teammate, student and most importantly a great person. You really were always a phone call away. You made my transition here to Clarkson that much easier and I thank you for that. You were a great captain and lead our team to success and a great year both in the rink and outside of the rink. | the freshman class | Mama P, well what to say. Other than thank you. You did a terrific job this season at making me (and all the other freshman) feel at home and in the CGK family right off the bat. You always brought a great attitude and effort at the rink which it made it a hell of a lot easier for me. We had some great times this season one being the trip to Gabby’s house. It made me so much closer to you, Kali and Gabby and I had one of the best times of my life with you guys. Also thank you so much for always letting me use your lime green bundle of joy you call a car to take it on wondrous journeys to thy wally world, it twas quite splendid indeed . Any who, thank you also for being SUCH a great captain, you were a huge reason as to why this team was so close and made it so special. I will never forgot this season and how great it was and I’m so sorry it couldn’t have ended on a better note; I only wish I could have done more for you! You are truly something special and I will truly miss you so much next year, good luck on your ever so bright future! | There are so many memories I will never forget. You were a huge part of the equation that makes up Clarkson Hockey, you always came to work your absolute hardest and just grinded it out. You brought something unique and special to this team and program that will not be forgotten. I cannot thank you enough for making this year so special and it was an amazing experience to be able to be a part of your last year. You always showed up to work hard and kept things in check. I’d also like to congratulate you on your award winnings and accomplishes this year. I wish you the best of luck in what the future may have in store for you.
Kate, Thank you for this amazing year! You were a great captain, and a great leader. You were always cheering, and being positive no matter what, and that's what great leaders do. “The one thing that matters is the effort.” You showed up every single day at the rink and gave the best that you could. That is the message that I will remember from you. You are one of the reasons why Clarkson Hockey is called Clarkson Hockey. I am happy that I got the chance to know you this year. You made this year a memorable one, and thank you for making this team a family. We were so close, and there was pretty much no drama all year, and that is because of the great leaders that we had. Best of luck in the future, I will miss you Captain. | Kate!! D-partner, Stall mate, singing partner? (Again I apologize for you having to deal with my awful singing the whole year) You have been the best captain I have ever had in hockey; it just will not be the same without you at the rink every day. You have helped me out so much this year both on the ice and off the ice. Thank you so much for your support over the year and for just being you. Your enthusiasm everyday made even the worst of practices easier, watching you work hard day in and day out allows others to see that they should follow in your footsteps. Please continue to keep in touch, and all the best with your future endeavors!! Always keep singing and dancing! Here is a quote that in my eyes suites you to a tee. “Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true. “Leon J. Suenes. Going to miss you a lot next year! Please keep in touch and maybe come visit ! Best of luck! Love, Jennifer Shields
Dear Kate, Or should I call you life saver?... since you did literally save my life once, and for that I thank-you kindly. Also, I would like to thank you for setting such a good example for our freshmen class. You guys were so welcoming to us, and I think by doing that it made our transition into college much easier. The way you chose to lead this team was awesome, because every time you hit the ice whether it was practice, workout or a game, you always set a first-class example of what it truly takes to be the best player/person possible. Getting to play with you on the blue line was a privilege, and you can long body with the best of ‘em. I wish you the best of luck in the future and can’t wait to see you beat the world at everything you put your mind to. - Love Ella | Kate, You were such a great leader this year, you were always trying your best to get the team pumped up and it was really inspiring. I wish I could have spent more than one year with you. You were such a great player to watch on the ice, and a great friend. When I think back on the year, it was so great how welcoming you always were, you were so easy to talk to and it was great. From the moment I arrived at Clarkson you treated me so good, and made my transition into Clarkson so easy. | You were always laughing and smiling and you were such a big impact in the dressing room. Our team would not have been as successful without a great leader like you. You didn’t take any days of and always came in with a great attitude. I wish we could have gone farther this year just for you and the rest of the seniors sake because you guys deserved so much more than what you got and I know the rest of the team feels that way. I know you will do great in life and be so successful. I wish you all the best and I know I will still be hearing from you. But thank you again, for the unbelievable year! I will miss you a lot! And keep in touch! Love, Taylor
The sophomore class | ratt | I was so happy that I was able to attend high school with you, but being able to go to college with you was a whole new and wonderful experience! Thank you for showing me the way for the past 2 years and pushing me to be better not only as a player, but also a person. You have done so much for our team and we appreciate all the hard work you have put forth. I’m going to miss talking about the gossip going around good ol Dinsmore. I’m going to miss you so much next year big sister and twin, when I’m home I will definitely come and visit you in Saskatoon. | Kate! You were the very first teammate I got to know, hey you even stayed at my house before I even became a knight for real! Thanks for all the laughs and dance moves and smiles. It was awesome coming to the rink for these two years and seeing your smile light up the room, it made a rough day even better so thank you for that. Also thank you for being an amazing leader these past couple of years, you really help me mature as a player and a person especially after my freshmen yearhaha good luck with everything, your gunna rock everything you do I know it. P.s I will never forget our roady to Syracuse, playing fuck you while drivinga true champ, and our actual jam fest on the way home was amazing. We will always have our roady! Love ratty
Thanks for being a great teammate for the past two years. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. You have been such a huge part of our team and the best leader that we could have asked for and you will truly be missed. Your energy, positivity, and work ethic every day had such a positive impact on our team and I’m sure those things will help you be successful in your future endeavours. Best of luck in your future in whatever you do, you’ve got a great future ahead of you. I’m going to miss you and your dancing ya crazy lady. Keep in touch! | You are such a beautiful, intelligent, ENERGENIC, funny person and you will go so far in life and simply have a blast! I loved being near you before we went out on the ice, some of the stuff you said was absolutely priceless. GRR, MEOW ! Haha. Congratulations on all your awards and accomplishments thus far and good luck in the future. Xo. Luck
Hello Kate, All that I think about when I think of you is you telling me and Van about your vaginal burning because of your boyfriend's clumsiness. Hahaha. Only you would not be shy to tell us such a story. However, the good thing is that this is what I like about you; your spontaneous and energetic personality! I also would like to tell you thank you, thank you for everything you gave to this team. You brought so much to us and what I will remember most about you is your generosity. There is a saying that is so cheesy but so true at the same time; ''you reap what you sow''. I am sure the future will bring you everything you deserve and even better. I wish you and your boyfriend a lot of cute kids and happiness. Love, Flo-Rida xxx. | Mama P! Where to start with you? One thing is for sure; I will miss my stally dearly next year! There’s so much I want to tell you, it’s overwhelming! First off, I am personally giving you another award (I don’t think you were nominated enough) -For the nicest stomach of the ECAC league. Jeeezz, so jealous I am. Haha, jokes aside, I recently read in the newspaper an article that made me think of you. No needs to get into the details, but it was talking about a new cream that was coming out for jalapenos burns.. Kate, to be honest, I have had in the past two years soooo much fun with you. Whether in the locker room or at a dinner table with the team, you were always a good time. If there’s one thing I will truly miss when you are gone is the maturity you brought to the team. If I needed a serious chat or just a shoulder to lean on, I knew I could always turn to you and that you would be there to listen and give feedbacks. Its funny how sometimes we can bond with people in such a short amount of timeTwo years ago, I didn’t even know how to pronounce your name. Its crazy how far we’ve come eh? Even though it sucks to know I won’t be seeing your face everyday at the rink anymore, I can promise you one thing: If ever you need a hand or a shoulder to lean on, I will be there for you like you’ve been there for me. I miss you already, and love you beaucoup beaucoup. Thank you for the great year Kate, it’s been an honor to be sitting by your side and have you as my captain. Forever and always in my heart, Minivan xxx
Kate you have been such a good role model for me over the last 2 years, our team couldn’t have asked for a better leader. Your leadership skills seem effortless, and your work ethic is very impressive. You made coming to the rink everyday fun and interesting. I can’t thank you enough for all of your support both in freshman year and this year, you are going to be impossible to replace. Thanks also for being a great friend, you really know how to have a great time!! Good luck with everything in the future, I’ll miss you!! Love Merc | Let me start off by saying you are the coolest straight person in the world and you’re not bad to look at. I don’t know how you are so positive all the time but it really makes you a lot of fun to be around. The team is going to have to work hard to stay energetic without you there cheering us on. Your bright energetic personality always made my day at the rink a little better. You are a great hockey player and I will miss having you in front of me next year. You are a eminent leader and I know you will go far in life. Good luck next year, please come visit.
The junior class | First off, I want to thank you for being such a great captain this season, and being a big part of making this year the best I've spent at Clarkson. You're a great leader and a great person, and this is obvious in that you make the people around you strive to be better. You've always been there for me when I've needed an extra push or a shoulder to cry on about mashed potatoes. From being kicked off the ice in practice to making the whole team skate because of my stupid mistakes, you've supported me and I truly appreciate everything you've done for me in the past three years. We've had a lot of great memories and awesome times here, and you will be missed big time. I know you'll do great things after Clarkson, and I'm excited for you! Good luck with everything and don't forget about your Knights back in Potsdam, we definitely won't forget you. | Hello! You will be my Nag for life. Next year I will carry on the slang term we use to describe ourselves as defensemen as well as let the forwards know we are superior to them. That’s why we did it right? I may ask for clarification after you read this. We have been here together three years now through the hard times and the good. Thank you for taking that situation under control way back when you politely asked my roommate to move out. You were always there to step up in a sticky situation. I do hope that we get to spend some time together in the summer as well as Kali. I will be at summer school the second semester so that gives us the first couple of months to figure it out! Perhaps you guys could come for the alumni event in Warner with ol’ Bailey? Just a suggestion. We will have a great time in Cuba! I love you.
the senior class | It is that time; the time to acknowledge the inevitable. Due to our common law marriage, I am now legally able to take your last name. I know you see where this is going I am now also related to Cleopatra also. And where is my ring! In all seriousness, you know you have something special when you can live with someone for four years and whether it be in class, en route to class, at the rink, at the house, etc the good times keep rollin. It’s hard to sit here and pick a group of good times that I want to reminisce about because there are too many to choose from. But, as I’m sure you know, half of the times we spent literally rolling on the floor laughing, unable to breathe, I can’t even remember how or why they started. | I think one of the good times would have been purchasing Kal a “purple friend” after being inspired by a tv guide “program” that showed off many things to “play with” at 5 in the morning. I hope you’re catching what I’m throwing at you. I am certain that my life as a biology student here at Clarkson would have been unbearable if it weren’t for you. I have to give you a lot of credit for making me study more and expect more out of myself. While on the topic of school, I think it is worth mentioning that you are the only person I have ever touched dead people with. You and I have shared dead bodiesanother thing not many people can say. You have made me proud to be from Saskatchewan, o waitI’m not from Saskatchewan, damn it! Let me rephrase: you have made me think that I am from Saskatchewan because you are the picture of a perfect Saskatchewanian. You proved it by the tears shed when the Roughriders lost. Heartbreaking. What isn’t heartbreaking is your work ethic. It is completely inspiring and I have no doubt in the world that you will be the best of whatever it is that you will do. With this being said, it wouldn’t matter what you do. You are a truly special girl who combines intelligence with the willingness to work hard that is necessary to complete any success story. You work hard and you play hard and you make it all work easily. I feel like there is so much more to say but this is so far from goodbye. With all this being said, I would do anything for you. I would friggen roll in dead bodies for you. I know that’s gross but deal with it.
Oh my Kate, the things we have been through and overcome in our days is a memory in itself. Remembering our first years together some odd 13 years ago when I walked into a room of six hyper crazy girls, not knowing that one of them would become my best friend. Many people couldn’t believe that the two of us were headed of the same school. I think us not Seeing Eye to eye in the beginning, made our relationship stronger. Not many girls can say they have a friend that they can completely tell the truth no matter what.. | The “perfect pair” will always be dear to my heart, and my year as defence will defiantly stand out because you were there to hold my hand. We had each other’s back on and off the ice, as we both know the inconveniences we faced that year. Although were mentally drained, we somehow picked up our chins and made the most amazing team chemistry for our last year. Off the ice, out of the rink we had an incredible time. We were even rebels once for an entire two hours, enjoying the kitchen and apple jacks. We played our fair share of tricks, cooked family suppers, indulged in jello ,you tried to teach gab and I all about boys. We experienced so many new things together, and many things people from home will never experience. Just the words “spring break” is dear to our hearts, as we experienced all four of them together. We were so far away from home that we became the family and the sisters that we needed while away from Saskatchewan. As we move home, and are lost with the fact of not having the sport we love in our lives we will still have each other. We will have these memories together to always cherish and reminisce. I am excited to start a new chapter in my life, and I know it won’t be that difficult as we will have each other. I love my “local talent from Saskatchewan”
Katelyn Ptolemy, where should I start, I’m not positive on when you’re going to be reading this but I’m really looking forward for playing golf with you this spring. You’ve really helped me this past year in taking confidence in myself to be a good leader. You might didn’t notice this, but you have a great influence on people around you. Your joy of living, the enthusiasm you showed every day this past four years are something I’m taking from you and applying it in my everyday life, and I’m really thankful for that. I wish Saskatchewan wasn’t so far so I could drive and visit you more than once every 5 years, maybe it’ll be less if I win the lottery! Maybe we could just start a golf course in Sas. It could be a good opportunity, I mean there are a lot of lands that we could buy and have the greatest greens in Canada, and maybe in the World! On a serious note, I really enjoyed having you as captain this year and as a teammate during my college career. Make sure you keep writing me, you got to keep up with that French! You don’t want to lose it! Kate, thank you again for making these four years the best I could have ever imagined. I wish you the best for your future and I’ll be seeing you one way or another. Love you xxx
Kate - Katelyn Ann (K) - Love, Bay. Number four Bobby Orr. I've never actually said that till now. Anywho. I think we have really forged our friendship this year and I am so happy we did. I hope you know what an impact you have made on this team in large part because of your energy. Your qualities as a person I want you to know are very unique and something that Clarkson and I know I..will surely miss seeing every day. | That seemed like slightly poor grammar but I just mean to say that I will miss seeing your nearly perfect complexion every day and being the only yelling partner there for me. Middle! Boards! Middle! Um Kate and Boudy could you maybe not talk at all and let people break it out on their own. Mama P I love your motherly nature and how it was there even when we were young freshmen. You don't often find the soul of an 85 year old in a college girl's body. I am thankful I get to call that magnificent feat as a great friend of mine. I love you lady, and I will think of you every time I see a person who's hair is brighter than the sun.
the one and only... Pete! | Well starting with the days in good ‘ole Powers 2 to now you have been quite the great friend Kate. You have seen me fall through your doorway and we have had some epic times. Whether it was chasing Marge through the halls after a long night or me taking your beanbag, it’s been a blast. Thank you for always being there and having some solid talks in the past few years. Golfing is a must throughout the next few months as it has always been a good time. From day one until now you've been a blast to be around and have always been a great friend. The dinners, talks, crazy times, and golf will all be missed but must certainly continue in the future.
Coaches and family | Kate, I can’t believe your four years at Clarkson are over. It seems like yesterday when I dropped you off with no keys, no blankets, no computer, no food card!! That first night Gabby and Kallie were there for you, and it was a good omen. You’ve made special friends . We watched all your games on the net, and getting down to Potsdam was better than a trip around the world! We are so proud of you as a player, and as a student maintaining Presidential Scholar marks, and getting Clarkson’s nomination for ECAC Student Athlete awards We’ve burst our buttons many times when we watched you play or heard good things from your coaches, and other parents. You’ve had some great hockey moments as a Golden Knight and on Team Canada, and you’ve also had some disappointments, but you’ve never let that stop you. We know that you worked hard, and that it wasn’t without personal sacrifices. Hockey has given you a great start to your education, a chance to see lots of the world, and brought you many friends and memories. You’ve grown into an accomplished and thoroughly likeable young woman who hasn’t forgotten her roots. Thank you for all the joy you’ve brought us! Love mom | How time flies! That first year seemed to drag on forever. Thank goodness you called after every game so I could pass on good hockey advice. You are a great student, and we are so proud of your game; you are a skilled and steady defensemen, who rarely got beat. You are a team player, and your leadership on and off the ice was recognized as Captain. You should be proud of all your accomplishments, we are. Now that you are entering this new chapter in life, it will be less demanding on your mind and body, so hopefully you’ll be able to keep your a ** in your jeans! Sorry, I had to get in one last dig! Love dad. | Thanks for always bringing energy and a positive attitude to the rink every day. You have led by example in all areas and have been a true role model. We will miss your genuine character, commitment, and compassion for your teammates. Your contagious work ethic will be hard to replace and we know that this will bring you continued success in your future. Thanks for everything and best of luck Kate.
 ...Couldn't leave behindThe Wonderful Marge!
Happy Graduation Knights, Look how far you’ve come. Survived herbies, swims and marathons, Feats impossible for some. I can’t believe you’re all seniors now, The elderly on the team. Looking back on my years as a lady knight, It’s seems almost as if a dream. Although it’s been a few years now, And my memory’s less than par. You’ll always be a part of me, No matter near or far. Kate, You were the youngest of us all, And I the “wise” grandma. That hair you sported on Halloween, Could have been mistaken for an alpaca. From freshmen year to senior year, Many friendships you all have made. Although it is sad you must be glad, For the memories that will never fade. It is now time for you all to move along, To say goodbye to New York State. You should be proud of all you’ve achieved, So now time to celebrate!! Congratulations ladies! Love and miss you all : )
Everything happens for a reason! Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere, safe and comfortable but dull and utterly pointless. The people you meet affect your life. The successes and downfalls that you experience can create who you are, and the bad experiences can be learned from.... In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones. If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them because they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to whom you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally not only because they love you, but also because they are teaching you to love and open your heart and eyes to little things. MAKE EVERYDAY COUNT! Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people who you have never talked to before, and actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, even if it doesn't seem right because you are too young or too far, just follow your heart. Surround yourself with those who make you smile, laugh, and make you happy. Break free and set your sights high. Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you. Create your own future and LIVE IT! | Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there... to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but when you look eyes with them, you know that every moment that you are with them, they will affect your life in some profound way. And sometimes things happen to you at the time that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, will power or heart.
Don't cry because it's over... | ...smile because it happened!
