1: What? | The Reformation or the root word " reform" meaning to change for the better. In this time in history many of the rulers were very corrupt.. Wars broke over land and power! Many people came along to help the Church and give out their own ideas, even if the were not needed. Many people that did so were Martin Luther, John Calvin and King the VIII . Without there acts it would not be the same today
2: Martin Luther
3: About Martin Luther was a Catholic priest. When he noticed that the church was acting sinfully he questioned the churches acts, he disagreed with the selling of indulgences meaning a " FREE PASS" to heaven. He didn't want to change the church but it just happened when he posted his 95 theses to the church door. He risked his death and was also excommunicated from the church! | People Involved: His followers were known as " Lutherans" Location: this religion is located in Germany Beliefs: That to follow the ways of the church and of God. And that God is the creator or life!
4: John Calvin
5: About John Calvin is an anti-catholic, meaning he did not believe in the ways of Martin Luther. He started his religion called "Calvinist". | People Involved: Were his followers known as " Calvinists" Location: This religion was created in Switzerland. Beliefs: That you were predetermined at birth if you were going to Hell or Heaven. Also to be pure no gambling, swearing and drinking.
6: King Henry VIII
7: Back in History King Henry the VIII became King of England after the death of his farther. His farther was in the War of Roses. This battle was between Lancaster which was red and House of York which was white. The Tudors took the English throne. Once Henry became king he needed a son to take care of the the throne after he died. King Henry married a total of six women to try to have a son. He married Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katherine Howard and Katherine Parr. He got two daughters Mary and Elizabeth and a son Edward from Jane Seymour. He was given the name FIDEI DEFENSOR - defender of faith. He legalized divorce | Followers: Were all the people who believed in his religion. Location: Started in England Beliefs: King Henry VIII believed in the ways of the Catholic Church.
