Variety is the spice of life! | Embrace Diversity! Treat students as individuals. Vary your teaching methods. Promote a respectful classroom and accept differences. Avoid idioms, some students may not understand. Don't assume the kids who don't talk don't know the material. Watch the type of humor that occurs in your classroom.
The Myth of the Model Minority Asian students are "model" students | The category of "Asian" is a problem in itself. There are over 50 ways to qualify as an Asian American.
This myth is racist and needs to be exposed! It is detrimental to the lives of Asian American students and also contributes to the continuing inequality in our schools.
People First Language | Both students and teachers need to be made aware of PF language. Many times, an offensive comment or description is made only because he/she who spoke it lacked the knowledge of People First language. It needs to be a priority!
Athletes with disabilities are a hardy bunch, whether they're participating in individual or team sports. | "Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them." Albert Einstein
