BC: Food Security is defined as a population being able to have access and availability to nutritious food. Sadly, this is not the case for many people who live in poverty. Luckily, an important food bank that constantly places food security as their primary concern for all individuals is MADA. So many people volunteer at the organization, donating food to those impoverished that it also becomes a close knit family.
FC: MADA Food Bank: An Illustrated Essay of a Charitable Organization | By Jennifer Zigler
1: Introduction The organization that I chose to do my project on is a food bank called MADA, which was established in 1993. It is an incredible organization that places its primary focus on feeding the hungry and improving those who are impoverished. MADA also provides help in offering clothes to those who need it for free, it offers counseling services for marital problems, and domestic abuse. MADA even organizes weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs! In my photo essay, I will be going more into depth of the organization and explore how they put food security as their number one goal for all of their clients, in order to fight poverty. MADA provides the healthiest and tastiest food for those who need it, at no cost for the benefit of the community, so that food security will be met for those living in poverty .
2: "We opened this Foodbank because there's a great amount of poverty amongst the Jewish Community, and we weren't welcomed anywhere else so we had to make our own foodbank". | The food bank welcomes anyone who is in need of food, no matter who they are or what religion they belong to. It is not only restricted for Jewish people. Souce: On location at MADA, located at 6700 Chemin de la Cote des Neiges Date: April 13, 2014
