About Your Donor | WHAT IS IVF IVF is an acronym for in vitro fertilization ('in vitro' meaning 'in glass').IVF is an option for many couples who cannot conceive through conventional therapies. Simply put IVF is adding a man's sperm to a female's eggs in a laboratory to produce embryos. These embryos are put back into the female's uterus (womb) after 3 to 5 days in the incubator. A mutual friend, Bevin and John Santos, set up the meeting for Eric to meet me. Eric decided to rent out the front half of my apartment. During his stay, we got to know each other, fell in love, and got married. We had a theme Renesance Wedding. Most of our guest wore costumes from that time period. It was great fun! | My Parents

I was weaned on: 2-12-2010 at 14 months I tried my first solids: 4-9-2009 at 4 months I tried chopped food: 11-17-2009 at 11 months I tried finger food: 8-21-2009 at 9 months I first held a fork: 1-15-2009 at 13 months My favoite foods: Sweet Potatos, Apples, Crackers, Meat My least favoite foods: Rice Cereal, Mushy Stuff | Around ten months I started trying to wean you. You had great difficulites with this. You still thrusted your food out of your mouth and choked on your solids. I started you with feeding therapy at eleven months. We discovered you were not using your jaw muscles to suck. This is why you nursed up-side-down. You used the top of your head to compress the breast and get your milk with minimal sucking. You caught on to solid foods quickly. You did not want to give up your night nursing though. When Daddy was moved to temporary shore duty, he was able to give me some help at night. With the extra support I was able to get you weaned onto a sippy cup at night around 14 months old. | Meal Time

A DAY WITH MARYANN | Toe Liken Good! Oh how I love speghetti. What's better? The peaches or the plastic container that holds the peaches? | Maryann's first bite of food, rice cereal. Yucky! She agrees with mommy. Dinner's so good, Ill Lick the plate clean.

Favorite games: You didn't have very many games that you liked or wanted to do. You seemed to enjoy playing a version of peek-a-boo with us at the dinner table. What makes me laugh: Daddy would make funny faces or sounds to make you laugh. You also laughed when tickled by mommy or daddy. You sometimes would laugh with Michael. Favorite toys: You loved the musical toys that hung off your play gym. When you got older you seemed to enjoy holding stuffed animals and dolls. You didn't have a specific favorite doll or animal though. Favorite songs: Five Silly Monkeys, Apples and Bananas, Bingo Favorite activities: You did not play very well. We had to teach you how to play. You were very close to Michael. You tried to do what he did. On days that he was home, you looked to him for entertainment. You would run in circles with him, follow him up the slide, race with him, or just mimic him. When he was not around you preferred to spin in circles upside-down on the swing, run in circles, climb on things, act like a kitty cat, sit on mommy and pull or twirl her hair, or watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. | Play Time

A DAY WITH MARYANN | Playing on your musical table | Running in your walker | Jumping in your jumparoo | Tummy time on your play gym | Jump, Jump Run and Laugh

Your Daddy gave you your first bath. He went with you after you were born to the nursery while Grandma stayed with me in recovery. He got to be the first one to wash you. It was a very special moment for him. When we came home, Daddy continued to be your primary bath giver. It was a good way he could bond with you and your brother. How I liked my bath In general you enjoyed bath-time. You run to the tub anytime you hear the water running, thinking it is your time for a bath. Sometimes you would try to turn on the water and climb in on your own. Bath-time was olnly fun as long as no one got your head wet. As soon as your head was rinsed, you were done and tried to come out. You did not cry, you just shrunk away from the water, then try to climb out of the tub. Favorite bath toys You loved your little yellow rubber ducky. He was small and easy for you to hold and chew. You also like playing with your brother and his bath tub cars. You often got to bathe with him. Games in the bath You loved to splash the water. Especially if your brother was in the tub with you. You'd both get excited and water went all over the b athroom floor. | Bath Time

A DAY WITH MARYANN | Drying off and Showing off | Playing in the big tub | Your first bath at home

My bedtime routine Your bedtime routine was rather simple. Every other night you got a bath. After getting you dressed, Daddy or I read you and Michael a story. After Michael was tucked in bed, I rocked you so you wouldn't cry and wake up Michael. Once you were asleep, I would attempt to transfer you to your bed. My favorite books, toys, and lullabies Baby Pink, Dolly, Light-up star bug (or "bumble bee"), Heart-beat bear, "Five Silly Monkeys". My big girl bed You moved to your big girl bed shortly after your second birthday. You didn't have any difficulties adjusting to it. You were very proud to have your new bed. My night-time habits You seldom slept through the night. You often got out of your bed and climbed into ours. Once in our bed, you'd position yorself so you were sleeping on my head with your diaper in my face. You would spend the rest of the night twirling or pulling my hair, unless I had the energy to put you back in your bed. Then you'd scream until you fell asleep. | Bed Time | I slept through the night: February 22, 2010 at 15 months old How well I slept: You were not a “good sleeper”. You hated your crib and yout bassinet. You would cry for hours. Three and a half hours was all I could stand before I would fetch you. You preferred to sleep on me, in my bed, or in your car seat. When you did sleep, you didn’t sleep for long. You usually woke about every 3-4 hours. At first you were waking for food, later you were waking for comfort. Early on, you sucked your thumb for comfort. By six months, you were no l longer interested in your thumb. You did not self-soothe very well. Youwanted to have a handful of my hair in your hand to go to sleep. The first time you slept all night (10pm - 4am), I was shocked. I didn’t think you would ever sleep through the night. You did not do it consistently. When you did, I would often wake up and look in on you to see if you were still breathing and doing well. It was such a rare occurrence that I worried about you when you did sleep. | Go to Sleep... PLEASE!
