3: Corn Fritters | Gram Colton | Ingredients: 2 eggs- beaten 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup corn Mix ingredients and roll into patties. Cook on the stove in oil until golden brown. | Ingredients: 2 cups flour 3 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 4 tbs sugar 1 egg 4 tbs canola oil 1 cup milk | 400 15 mins 12 muffins | Gram Colton Muffins | Mix dry ingredients first then add others. Mix well and add desired flavoring (apples, blueberries etc.)

4: Colton Guest Farm Pancakes Ingredients: 5 egg yolks 1/2 qt buttermilk 2 cups flour 1 1/2 tbs sugar 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 stick soft butter 5 egg whites stiffly beaten Mix ingredients together and cook on a skillet. | Waffles Ingredients: 2 eggs 2 cups buttermilk 1 tsp baking soda 6 Tbs bacon fat 2 cups flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt Mix together and cook on a waffle iron.

5: Dog Team Tavern Sticky Buns 2 tbs crisco 2 tbs sugar 1 tsp salt 1 egg, beaten 1/2 cup warm mashed potatoes 1 package yeast, dissolved in 1 cup warm water 3 cups flour (more or less) Melted butter ( as much or little as you wish) Cinnamon sugar (as much or little as you wish) 1 cup maple syrup 1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts 1/2 cup cold water Mix together first 6 ingredients then mix in three cups of flour (more or less). Turn onto a floured board and knead until smooth and elastic, adding more flour as necessary. Place in refrigerator overnight. Roll out dough into a rectangle and brush well with melted butter. Sprinkle dough with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon and roll into a jelly roll. Slice into 1-inch thick pieces. Butter a glass baking dish, add syrup, nuts and cold water. Place slices on top of syrup mixture and let rise at room temperature until doubles. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Turn upside down on cake rack and be careful not to burn yourself on the hot syrup.

6: Pumpkin Donuts 1/4 cup butter 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 1/2 cup Libby's pumpkin 1 cup buttermilk 5 cups flour 1 scant tbs baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ginger 1 tsp salt Add an extra cup of flour Cream together butter, eggs, and sugars then add pumpkin. Mix dry ingredients together. Combine all ingredients and mix with a fork. Roll out to a 1/4" thickness and cut out into circles. Fry in hot oil until golden brown.

7: Gram Colton's Donut Holes | 1 tbs sugar 1 egg 1 tbs melted butter 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp nutmeg Little vanilla 1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp baking powder 1 1/2 cup flour | Mix ingredients together and roll out dough to a 1/4" thickness. Cut out with a cookie cutter and fry in oil until golden brown. | Great Grammie Colton's Plain Donuts | 2 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 3/4 tsp nutmeg 3/4 tsp cinnamon 2 eggs 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1 cup buttermilk | Mix together dry ingredients. Beat eggs and add oil and buttermilk. Combine with dry ingredients. Roll into tiny balls and deep fry in fat. They will turn themselves over when they are done. Cook until golden brown. Roll in cinnamon sugar (optional). Makes 2 dozen donut holes.

8: Ingredients: 1 1/4 cup scalded milk 1/2 stick butter 1 Beaten egg 2 tbs maple syrup 4 1/2 cups King Arthur Bread Flour 1 tsp salt 6 tbs sugar 2 tsp yeast (warmed) Scald milk and add butter. Pour into a warmed bread machine insert. Add beaten egg and syrup. Add both flours. Sprinkle salt and sugar around the edge of the bread machine container. Make a dent in the middle of the flour and put warm yeast into dent. Set machine on dough setting. When dough is finished put onto a floured board and cut into six pieces. Kneed into balls and place three greased bread pans. Cover with a towel and set in a warm place to rise until they reach the top of the bread pan. Prick a few holes in the top of the loaves with a fork. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and butter the faces. 9: Maple Butter Ingredients: 4 cups maple syrup 2 1/2 sticks butter Cook syrup until a small amount forms a soft ball when placed in cold water. Add butter and beat with a mixer until thick and creamy. | Gram's Jam Ingredients: 6 cups rhubarb 20 oz can of crushed pineapple 2 1/2 cups sugar 2 3 oz packages raspberry jell-o Slowly cook rhubarb, pineapple and sugar for 20 minutes. Add Jell-o mix and pour into jars. | Becca helps Gram "butter their faces"

11: 1 lb hamburger Green pepper Onion 2 cans stewed tomatoes 2 cans water 1/2 cup macaroni Mixed veggies | Tomato Macaroni Soup | Cook hamburger, onion and pepper. Add tomatoes and water. In the last 1/2 hour put in macaroni and mixed veggies. | Split Pea Soup | 1 bag (1 lb) dry split peas 8 cups water 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed 2 large onions, chopped 2 medium carrots, chopped 2 cups cubed cooked ham 1/2 cup chopped celery 5 tsp chicken bouillon granules 1 tsp dried marjoram 1 tsp poultry seasoning 1 tsp rubbed sage 1/2 to 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp dried basil 1/2 tsp salt | In a large kettle combine all ingredients and bring to a boil for 1 1/4 -1 1/2 hours or until peas and vegetables are tender. Makes 3 quarts

12: Gram Colton's Corn Chowder 4 tbsp bacon 2 tbsp minced onion 2 cups water 2 cups diced potatoes 1/2 cup diced carrots 1/2 cup diced celery 1 cup milk 2 tsp salt Pepper 2 cups cooked corn | Dice and brown bacon until crisp. Add onion and cook until yellow. Add water,boiled potatoes, carrots and celery and cook until tender. Add milk, salt, pepper and corn. Simmer until done. | 2 cans creamed corn 2 cans corn 1 lb bacon diced 5 large potatoes, cook and diced 1 can mushrooms 1 pt half and half Salt and pepper to taste | Cook bacon and onion until tender and browned. Add other ingredients (do not drain corn or mushrooms). Season to taste. | Corn Chowder with Mushrooms

14: 1 cup Sour Cream 1 cup mini marshmallows 1 cup coconut 1 cup mandarin oranges 1 cup pineapple chunks | Five Cup Salad | Mix together and serve chilled. | Connie Gilmore's Orange Supreme Salad | 1 12 oz Cool Whip 1 lb cottage cheese 1 20 oz can crushed pineapple drained 2 40 oz cans mandarin oranges drained 1 large package or two 3oz packages orange Jello (dry) | Mix ingredients together and chill. Decorate with maraschino cherries. | 1 unpeeled orange, cut into slices 1 12 oz package of Ocean Spray fresh or frozen cranberries, rinsed and drained 3/4 to 1 cup sugar | Place half of the cranberries and half of the oranges in the food processor and process until evenly processed. Remove from processor and repeat with the other half of the cranberries and oranges. Add sugar to taste. | Cranberry Orange Relish | 6 qt sliced apples 3 cups water 3 cups sugar Place apple and water into a pot on the stove. Cook, stirring occasionally until fully cooked and smooth. Add sugar to taste. Makes 4 quarts. | Gram Colton | Apple Sauce

15: 1 cup fat free Miracle Whip 1/4 cup sugar 8 cups cabbage (finely minced) 2 tbs carrot shredded and minced 2 tbs minced onion | KFC Cole slaw | Combine miracle whip and sugar in a large bowl. Mix well until sugar is dissolved. Add cabbage, carrots and onion. Toss well. Cover and chill for several hours. | 2 - 14.5 oz cans of cut green beans drained or two 9 oz bags of frozen green beans. 1 - 10 3/4 oz can cream of mushroom soup 3/4 cup milk 2.8 oz can fried onions 1/8 tsp pepper 1 tsp minced onion | Mix all ingredients except 1/2 can of fried onions. Pour into a 1 1/2 qt casserole dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until hot. Top with the remaining onions and bake for 5 more minutes until browned. Serves 6. | Green Bean Casserole | Baked Beans | 2 lbs soldier beans 1 pint dark syrup 2 tsp salt 1 tsp dry mustard 1 medium onion 1 small piece salt pork | Soak soldier beans overnight. Par -boil until the skins separate when you blow on them. Add syrup, salt and mustard. Stir carefully. Place the onions in the corners and score the piece of salt pork and place it in the middle of the beans. Set cooker control at 250 and cook 4-5 hours or until done. Take cover off later to let them brown. | Ingredients: 1/4 cup sugar 1 tbs cornstarch 1/4 cup vinegar 1/4 cup water 2 1/2 cans beets Boil sugar, cornstarch, vinegar and water together for 5 minutes. Drain beets and cook slowly until heated. Add butter, salt and pepper. | Gram Colton | Harvard Beets | Ron Coughenour's

16: Reeta's Spinach Salad | Toppings: 1 Bag spinach Canned bean sprouts drained Hard boiled eggs Mushrooms Bacon Dressing: 1 cup salad oil 1/3 cup ketchup 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup vinegar 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce 1 onion, chopped Mix dressing and add toppings as desired. | Lynda Colton's Rolls Ingredients: Place in bread maker in this order: 1 1/3 cup Lukewarm water 1 stick soft butter 1 warm beaten egg 4 1/2 cups King Arthur flour 1 tsp salt 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup dry buttermilk 2tsp yeast (placed in an indentation made in the middle of the pan) | 1/2 Cup Sugar 1/4 Cup Flour 1 Beaten Egg Pinch of Salt 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice Drain juice from oranges and pineapple overnight. Mix with above mixture and cook until thickened. Pour over: 6 Oranges Bunch of grapes 2 Cans pineapple Cortland apples Walnuts Bananas (don't keep well so add last) | Grammy Gilmore's Fruit Salad

17: Ingredients: 2 Eggs 1 Cup Milk 1 Cup sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 tbs salad oil Place eggs in mixing bowl; add milk, flour and salt. Beat 1 1/2 minutes with electric beater. Add oil and beat 30 seconds more (don't over beat). Fill 6-8 well greased custard cups 1/2 full. Bake at 475 for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake an additional 25-30 minutes or until brown and firm. A few minutes before removing from oven, prick with a fork to let the steam escape. If you like popovers dry and crisp, turn off the oven and leave popovers in the oven for 30 minutes with the door ajar. Serve hot. Makes 6-8 large popovers. | Popovers | Monkey Bread Ingredients: 3- 7 1/2 oz tubes buttermilk biscuits (cut into 1/4's) 1 cup sugar 1 Tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) Preheat oven to 350. Place sugar and cinnamon in a bag and set aside. Melt brown sugar and butter. Shake a dozen buttermilk biscuit pieces at a time in the cinnamon mix. Place pieces in a greased bunt pan and pour sugar and butter mix over the top. Sprinkle on nuts. Bake 30 minutes. | Popovers | Johnny Cake Ingredients: 1 cup corn meal 1 cup flour 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp salt 4 tsp baking powder 1 egg 1/4 cup soft shortening 1 cup milk Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes.

18: Bread and Butter Pickles Ingredients: 8 quarts thinly sliced cucumbers 6 medium onions sliced thin 1 cup salt 1 1/2 quarts vinegar 6 cups sugar 2 tbs mustard seed 1 tbs celery seed Combine cucumbers, onions and salt and let stand for three hours with ice over the top. Rinse lightly with water and drain. Combine and boil for three minutes: vinegar, sugar, mustard seed and celery seed. Add drained cucumbers and onions to mixture. Heat to simmering and pack hot. Do not boil. Seal immediately. Makes 12 pints. | Sour Pickles Ingredients: 1 quart Vinegar 1 tbs plus 1 tsp sugar 1/4 cup salt 1/4 cup dry mustard 1/4 cup horseradish Mix ingredients together to form a brine. Soak small cucumbers in brine for a long time until ready to eat (days etc)

20: Apple Sauce Meatloaf 1 1/2 lbs hamburger 1 cup bread crumbs (dry or soft) with 1 1/4 cup milk or 3 slices of bread cubed with 1 cup milk 1 egg 1 small onion chopped (about 1/4 cup) 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce 1 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 tsp ground sage 1 clove garlic (optional) 1 Cup applesauce Mix ingredients and spread in an ungreased 9x5x3 pan. Cover meatloaf with applesauce. Cook uncovered at 350 for 1 1/2 hours. | 1 3/4 cup elbow macaroni 1/2 stick butter 1/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp salt 2 1/2 cups milk 1/2 lb Velveeta cheese, cubed Small amount of cheddar cheese | Cook macaroni noodles in 2 qts of water and set aside. Melt butter in a sauce pan then mix with flour and salt. Next add milk and cook slowly, stirring constantly until it starts to thicken. Add Velveeta cheese slowly and cheddar until melted and creamy. Mix cheese mix with noodles and pour into a casserole dish. Cover with crushed crackers and bake 30 minutes at 350. | Mac n' Cheese | Gram Colton

21: Ester's Meatloaf Ingredients: Meatloaf: 2 lbs hamburger 3 slices bread cut into cubes (with 2/3 cups milk, whip to mush and let set 1/2 hour) 2 eggs 2/3 cup shredded carrots 2/3 cup chopped onion 1 cup grated cheddar cheese 2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper Sauce: 2/3 cup catsup 1/4 cup mustard 2/3 cup maple syrup or brown sugar Combine all ingredients and place in a bread pan. Cook at 350 for 30-45 minutes. Top with sauce and serve. Serves 6. | Sweet and Sour Pork Ingredients: 1 1/2 lbs lean pork cut into 2 1/2" strips 1/4 cup water 2 1/2 cups pineapple chunks 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 tbs cornstarch 1/4 cup vinegar 1 tbs soy sauce 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 cup green pepper 1/4 cup thinly sliced onions Brown pork slowly in hot fat. Add water, cover and simmer until tender (about an hour). Drain pineapple and save juice. Combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Add pineapple juice, vinegar, soy sauce and salt. Cook and stir over low heat until thickened. Pour over hot cooked pork and let stand 10 minutes. Add pineapple, green pepper and onion. Cook uncovered 2-3 minutes. Don't let vegetables get soggy, keep crisp. May be served over chow mien noodles or rice. Serves 4.

22: Oven Fried Chicken Dip chicken pieces in butter. Turn skin side up and sprinkle on each piece: Minced garlic Seasoned salt Oregano Paprika Chicken seasoning Bake 45 minutes to an hour at 425. | Chicken a la Orange Ingredients: 2 cups stove top stuffing 3/4 cup orange juice 4 chicken cutlets 2 tbs oil 3/4 cup orange juice 10 oz package veggies Combine stuffing with orange juice. Let stand and stir occasionally until liquid is absorbed (about 5 minutes). Top each of the 4 chicken cutlets with stuffing mix and roll up and secure with a tooth pick. Roll lightly in flour and shake off. Sauté Chicken rolls in 2 tbs oil until lightly browned. Slowly add additional orange juice. Cover and simmer for 7 minutes. Add veggies and simmer for 3 minutes. Serves 4. | Grammie Gilmore's Biscuits 2 cups flour 4 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1/3 cup Crisco (fill to almost a 1/3 cup with Crisco and add a little butter) 1 egg 2/3 cup milk Roll dough out onto a floured board to 1" thickness and cut with a floured 2" cutter. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes.

23: Chicken N' Biscuits Boil 1 quart of chicken pieces (some dark meat) in water with 1 bouillon cube. Use enough water to make 3 1/2 cups of boiling chicken stock. Gravy 1/3 cup flour 1 cup milk boiling chicken stock 2 cans of cream of chicken soup Salt Peas and carrots for color Pour the hot gravy over the chicken pieces in a baking dish. Make bisquick biscuits and place them on the hot chicken and gravy. Cook for 20-30 minutes at 375- 400 until biscuits are nicely browned and cooked through. (serves 10) *see Grammy Gilmore's Biscuits | Ingredients: 1 small package Broccoli tips 2 whole chicken breasts 1 small onion 2 chicken bullion cubes 2 cans cream of chicken soup 1/2 cup miracle whip 2 tbs lemon juice 1/2 cup grated cheese 1 cup well buttered Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix Cook broccoli tips according to package and set aside. Boil chicken breasts in water with onion and bullion cubes. Place cooked broccoli in the bottom of a buttered baking dish. Cut up chicken and place it over the broccoli. Mix a sauce out of soup, miracle whip, lemon juice and cheese and pour over chicken. Add some of the left over chicken stock for moisture. Sprinkle well buttered stuffing mix over the top of the casserole. Cook for 30 minutes at 350. Serve over rice. Serves 4-6. | Chicken Divan

24: Ingredients: 1 cup hamburger 1 chopped onion 1/2 chopped green pepper 1 cup minute rice 2 8oz cans tomato sauce Salt Pepper 1 tsp mustard Brown hamburger in a salted pan. Add onion and green pepper. Cook rice and combine with browned meat and remaining ingredients. Stir to a boil. Put in casserole and cover with cracker crumbs. Heat in oven. | Spaghetti Sauce | Ingredients: 1/2 cup cooking oil 2 cups chopped onion 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp garlic salt or 1/4 tsp minced garlic 2 small cans tomato paste 2 small cans tomato sauce 3 quarts home cannedtomatoes 2 qts water Pepper 2 tsp salt 2-3 Bay leaves 1 tsp sugar per quart of tomatoes 1/2 tsp red pepper 2 quarts Ragu sauce 10 lbs hamburger Slowly cook onions in oil until lightly brown. Add other ingredients in a large pot on the stove and cook until done. Feeds 20 | Spanish Rice | Frances Fuster

25: Ingredients: Meatballs 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1 Tbs cornstarch 1 can (13 1/4 oz pineapple chunks) 1/3 cup vinegar 1 Tbs soy sauce 1 small green pepper coarsely chopped Mix brown sugar and corn starch in a skillet. Stir in pineapple (with syrup), vinegar and soy sauce. Heat to a boil stirring constantly. Reduce heat and add meatballs. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. Stir in green pepper. Cover and simmer until crisp and tender, about 5 minutes. Serves 4. | Sweet and Sour Meatballs | Deviled hamburgers Ingredients: 1 lb hamburger 1 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 2 tbs ketchup 2tsp mustard 1 tbs chopped onion 1/4 cup water Mix all ingredients except hamburger together in a bowl. Make hamburg patties and put them in a pan. Pour mixture over patties. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. | 4 cups cooked hamburger 1 onion chopped fine 1/2 tsp pepper 2 tbs chopped parsley 2 cups Corn 1 cup beef gravy (more if desired)

27: Birthday Apple Pie | Ron II looking for pie | Mother Arthur's Pie Crust Ingredients for an 8" crust (top and bottom) : 1 1/2 Cups Flour 1/2 tsp Baking Powder 1/2 tsp Salt 2/3 Cups Butter Crisco 3 Tbs Water Mix together and roll out to two 8" crusts. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes.

28: Custard Rice Pudding | 2 1/2 cups milk 2 eggs 1/2 cups syrup 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 tsp vanilla 2 cups cooked rice 1/2 cup raisins | Scald milk and beat 2 eggs and add other ingredients. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes or until set. | Maple Custard Pie | For a 9" pie Scald 2 2/3 Cup Milk Beat 4 Eggs Add 2/3 Cup syrup 1 tsp Vanilla 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp nutmeg | For an 8" pie: Scald 2 Cups milk Beat 3 eggs Add 1/2 cup syrup 1/3 tsp salt 1/4 tsp nutmeg | Pour into uncooked crust and bake 15 minutes at 450 then 10 minutes at 350.

29: "Only the best pies bubble over onto the bottom of the oven." -Gram | Swiss Rhubarb Pie 8 inch uncooked crust 3 Cups Rhubarb 1 Cup Sugar 1/4 Cup Flour 1 Pinch salt 1 tsp. Vanilla 1 Egg 1/3 Cup Heavy Cream 9 inch uncooked crust 4 Cups Rhubarb 1 1/3 Cups Sugar 1/3 Cups Flour 1 pinch Salt 1 Tsp Vanilla 2 Eggs 1/2 Cup Heavy Cream Mix ingredients and pour over rhubarb in an uncooked crust. Bake at 450 for 45-50 mins. | Norma Dondero's Strawberry Pie Ingredients: 4 oz softened cream cheese 3 cups whole strawberries 1 cup crushed strawberries 1/2 cup sugar 2 tbs corn starch Make and bake a 9" pie crust. When cool, put cream cheese in the bottom, then whole strawberries. Mix crushed strawberries, sugar and corn starch, cool until thick and pour over the top. Cover with whipped cream.

30: Blueberry Buckle Coffee Cake Cake: 1 cup sugar 1/3 cup Crisco 2 eggs 2/3 cup milk 2 1/4 cup flour 1 Tbs baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 2 cups blueberries Topping: 1/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/3 cup butter Mix together sugar, Crisco, eggs and milk. Mix together flour, baking powder and salt then add to the batter mixture and add blueberries. Pour into a greased and floured cake pan and sprinkle on the topping. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes | Reeta's Deep Dish Apple Dessert Ingredients: Apple mixture 4 cups fresh apples 2/3 cup sugar 1/4 cup flour Cinnamon Nutmeg Lemon juice 4 tbs melted butter Cake mixture 1 Cup flour 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 2 egg yolks 1 tbs butter 1/4 cup milk Mix and spread apple mixture over cake mixture. Bake in a 8" square glass pan for 30 minutes. Serve with ice cream.

31: Heath Brickle Coffee Cake Ingredients: 2 Cups Flour 1 Cup Brown Sugar 1/2 Cup white sugar 1 Stick Oleo 1 Cup Butter milk 1 tsp Soda 1 tsp Vanilla 1/2 Cup Heath Brickle Topping: 1/2 Cup Heath Brickle 1/4 Cup Chopped nuts 1/2 Cup of saved mixture from above Blend together flour, sugar and oleo. take out 1/2 cup of this mixture and set aside. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend will. Pour into a greased and floured 10x14x2 cookie sheet. Mix topping together and sprinkle over the batter and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. | Toffee Pecan Bars 2 cups flour 1/2 cup confectionery sugar 1 cup cold butter 1 egg 2 cup sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp vanilla English toffee bits 1 cup chopped pecans Combine flour and confectionery sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Press into a 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 15 minutes. In a bowl combine egg, condensed milk and vanilla. Mix well and fold in toffee bits (or almond brickle bits) and chopped pecans. Spoon over crust and bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Chill until firm before cutting. Makes 3 dozen bars.

33: Lynda's Grandmothers Chocolate Cake 1 cup sugar 2 tbs cocoa 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup butter milk 1 tsp baking soda 1/4 cup Crisco 1 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup boiling water Pour into a 7x11 greased, floured cake pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. | Flan cake 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup butter 3 egg yolks 1 1/4 cup sifted cake flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup milk 1/2 tsp. lemon extract Beat butter, sugar and yolks until fluffy. Sift dry ingredients; add alternately with flavoring and milk; blend well. Pour into greased and floured flan pan. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. 34: Almond Roca 2 sticks butter 1 cup sugar 3 tbs boiling water 1 tbs light Karo syrup (corn syrup) 1/2 bag milk chocolate chips Slivered almonds Melt butter and add sugar. Stir until melted together. Add boiling water and Karo syrup, stirring constantly until it cracks when put in cold water. Pour into a greased 10x10 pan. Melt chocolate chips and pour them over the candy. Sprinkle slivered almonds over the top. Break into pieces when hardened and serve. | Polka Daters 1 1/4 (8oz package) cup Chopped Dates 1 Cup hot water 1 cup Crisco 1 1/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 tsp salt 2 1/4 cup flour 1 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp Vanilla 1 cup chocolate chips 1/2 cup walnuts | Mix dates and hot water then set aside to cool. Beat Crisco, sugar, eggs and salt until creamy. Sift and gradually stir in flour and baking soda. Stiff date mixture with vanilla and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Pour into 9x13 baking pan and top with remaining chocolate chips and nuts. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

35: Aunt Jenette's Peanut Butter Balls 1 Lb Butter (just melted don't get too hot) 1 quart Peanut Butter ( 32 oz) 2-3 Boxes of Confectionery Sugar Mix well and shape into balls.Melt 2 24 oz packages of chocolate chips with 1/3 stick paraffin in double boiler. Dip peanut butter balls in chocolate mixture and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper to cool. Makes about 75 PB balls. | Chocolate Chip Cookies 2 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 cup Crisco 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 1 large package chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Mix together flour, baking soda and salt and set aside. Cream together Crisco, sugars and vanilla. Beat in two eggs and add slowly add flour mixture. Mix well and stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes. (Makes a double recipe)

36: French Peach Mousse 1 1/2 cups mashed peaches (4 or 5 medium sized peaches) 3/4 cups or more sugar 1 2/3 cups Carnation evaporated milk (tall can) 2 Tbs lemon juice Whip evaporated milk after chilling. Mash peaches and add sugar. Fold lemon juice into milk and then in the sweetened peaches. Freeze slightly and beat several times. | Grape Nut Ice Cream 2 qt scalded milk 5 eggs 1 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 tsp salt 4 tbs flour 2 tbs vanilla 2 cups cream 1 cup grape nuts cereal Scald milk and mix together with eggs, sugar, salt and flour. Cool until it coats a wooden spoon. Add vanilla and cream. When cool partly freeze and add 1 cup grape nuts. Freeze and enjoy!

37: Cream Puffs 1 cup water 1/2 cup butter 1 cup flour 4 eggs Heat water and butter to a boil. Mix in flour and stir vigorously until it forms a ball (one minute) on low heat. Remove from heat and beat in eggs thoroughly one at a time. Beat until smooth. Drop from spoon onto ungreased baking sheet, 3 inches apart. Bake at 45- 50 minutes or until puffed, golden brown and dry. Allow to cool slowly away from drafts. Cut off tops with a sharp knife and scoop out soft dough. Fill with custard filling. Sprinkle with confectionery sugar. large cream puffs. | Custard filling 1/2 cup sugar 1/3 cup flour 1/2 tsp salt 2 cups milk 4 egg yolks 1 tsp vanilla Mix dry ingredients and then stir in milk. Cook over medium heat stirring until it boils. Boil one minute then remove from heat. Stir a little over half of the mixture into 4 beaten egg yolks. Blend into hot mixture in a saucepan and bring just to a boil. Cool and blend in vanilla. Fills 8

38: Snickerdoodles 1/2 cup butter 2 cups sugar 2 egg (separated) 1/4 tsp salt 2 cups flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp vanilla 1 cup milk 3 tsp confectionery sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon (for the top) Cream butter and sugar then add the egg yolks and salt. Add milk, flour and baking powder. Add beaten egg whites last. Form balls for cookies and place on a cookie sheet or spread in a shallow pan. Sift confectionery sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the top. Bake at 370 for 15-20 minutes. | Peanut Butter Blossoms 1 cup sugar 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup creamy peanut butter 2 eggs 1/4 cup milk 2 tsp vanilla 3 1/2 cups sifted flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 2 - 10 oz package chocolate kisses Cream sugars, butter and peanut butter. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in egg mixture. Shape into balls; roll in additional sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet; bake at 375 oven for 10-12 minutes. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into each and let cool.

39: Date Filled Cookies 1 cup Crisco 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 3 eggs 1/2 cup water 1 tsp vanilla 4 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1/8 tsp cinnamon Filling: 2 cups finely cut up dates 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup chopped nuts To make the date filling cook filling ingredients together in a pan, stirring constantly until thickened then add chopped nuts. Blend Crisco, sugars and eggs, then stir in water and vanilla. After mixing well add flour , salt, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon. Drop teaspoon sized balls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Place 1/2 tsp date filling onto the dough and cover with another 1/2 tsp of dough. Bake at 400 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
