2: MESOPOTAMIA | 1)Mesopotamia was located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. 2)In Mesopotamia religion controls the government. 3)People in Mesopotamia discovered that wheels and sails made traveling easier 4)The plow made farming for the people of Mesopotamia easier also 5)The people in Mesopotamia were polytheistic, which means that they believed in more than one god 6)The city-states of Mesopotamia were always at war with each other 7)The Mesopotamians created a system of writing, called Cunieiform 8)The word Mesopotamia comes from the Greek word, meaning "land between rivers" 9)The kings, landholders and priests are the highest rank in the social classes, then comes wealthy merchants, then most of the ordinary people, then slaves 10)In 226 A.D. Mesopotamia fell under Persian control

4: Egypt 1)Egypt's river is the Nile river, and when it floods it makes a rich soil which 2)Pharohs were kings and viewed as gods 3)The Egyptians were polytheistic but the sun god was the most important to them 4)The Egyptians used a plant called Papyrus to make paper to write on 5)The Egyptians used hieroglyphics as a form of writing, which used pictures to represent words and sounds 6)The Egyptians used pyramids as tombs for the Pharohs and nobles 7)The Egyptians used mummification to preserve the body for the '' afterlife'' 8)Egypt was divided into upper and lower kingdoms until 3,000 B.C. 9)Since the desert surrounds Egypt, it has a dry, warm climate 10)Natron is a type of salt the Egyptians used to put on the body during the mummification process

6: Indus 1)Indus was the first civilization to have a plumbing system 2)Indus was between the Indus river and the Ganges river 3)They invented a language called Harappan and it has been impossible to decipher 4)The rulers of the Indus valley are believed to have close ties with religion 5)In the Indus valley, the river sometimes changed course 6)The Indus valley cities show a uniformity in religion and culture 7)The housing in the area suggests that social division was not very great in the Indus valley 8)The Harappans conducted a thriving trade with other people in the region 9)The Indus valley civilization is sometimes called Harappan civilization because of the many archeological discoveries made at the Harappa site 10)The largest cities in the Indus valley were Kalibangan, Mohenjo-Daro, and Harappa
