S: 40 Gorgeous Years
Dearest Joanna, (aka, Jobie, Jobie-Jo, Jo, Jannana, Jo Jo) Happy 40th Birthday! We love you and hope this is a small reminder of the fun and love that has filled the past years. We can't wait for 40 more years of adventures with you. XOXOXOXO
Dear Jobie, No words can even begin to describe how much we truly love you and care about you. You are the sister from Jersey that neither of us have ever had. You are an incredibly beautiful person in every sense of the word. You are compassionate, loving, kind, generous, giving, an amazing listener, and an inspiration to those around you. We have shared amazing moments together. Experiencing great times and hard times together has made us family. Weeks or months can go by without seeing you, but when we get together, no time has passed. From Cornell to a Hamptons Share, to Fire Island, to Connecticut, to the Vineyard, to Jazzfest to countless late nights with too many cocktails; we have shared so many memories together that it is truly astounding. Our friendships have endured decades and will undoubtedly last forever. You make us happy when we are around you. You make us smile, and as we have said before, “When we see you, we know we are homeâ€. On your birthday and every single day, please know how much happiness you have given both of us. Know that you are our family and one of the greatest loves of our lives. We love you, Jen, Chris, Daniel and Eli
Dear Joanna, We love you and wish you a huge happy birthday! You hot and sexy and can set a dance floor on fire. And I appreciate that you'll still dance with me even when I'm drenched in sweat. Wish we could be there on your big day. Love, Corb and Lex
 Jobie....the Groupie!

Happy Birthday to my Favorite VIP!! xo Ben
Joanna, You are a true gem my best friend- precious and rare! You have filled my life with joy, so much laughter, trust and honesty- I am one lucky girl to have you as my friend! Happy Birthday Buddy! Raise the roof. Love, Stacey
Dear Joanna, Happy Birthday to my gorgeous, loyal, brilliant, super fun, stylish friend. I have so many memories with you that I cherish.... from the Yankee game with "the Yankee" (when we first really became friends) to North Fork summer weekends, Jazzfests, concerts, "Weird Steve" sightings, Barrow Street Fairs, and all the random late-nights in between (and hungover conversations the next morning). And to all the memories to come! Happy Birthday, Joanna! You are a gem. Thank you for being such a solid, fun and trustworthy friend. I am proud to have you as my friend (actually I consider you more of a sister). I love you so much. Love, Mia
 Jobie....the Dancer!
Joanna, Here's to you and the endless ways you inspire us, empower us and enjoy life. Much love, Malia and Dan (see handicrafts under separate cover!)
Jobie!! A few years ago you said to me, "Life is really not that short, and we are all constantly evolving and changing. I so glad that you know I am always here for you 24-7 no matter WHAT. And I always, always will be. And that is one of the constants in your life that you can count on." Those words have come up for me again and again through all my highs and my lows and you have been right by my side for all of it. You know that I will ALWAYS be one of the constants in your life that you can count on. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOU XOXOXO Neelu "
"See you and me have a better time than most can dream of, better than the best, so we can pull on through, whatever tears at us, whatever holds us down, if nothing can be done, we'll make the best of what's around."
One of the hardest times I have laughed in a very long time was with "Erica". All I have to say is "Shrek" and you know what I mean. We were in a Ralph meeting and couldn't control our laughter. We were getting nasty looks all over the place! I am especially fortunate ... I get to work with you AND consider you one of my closest friends!!! I adore you!!! I wish you the very happiest birthday and the most wonderful year yet!!! - Jill
Happy Birthday Joanna! Can't believe you're 34! Crazy, Crazy! Have a great one. Love, Erin & Hunter
To my fabulous, beautiful, stylish, magnificent, funny, lovable, loyal, spectacular friend, JOBIE-- I count my lucky stars that you came into my world way back in early '98. I cherish the years we spent together in New York--so many wild funny nights, great trips, silly memories, special celebrations. Miami, Connecticut, Newport Beach, the Hamptons, Jamaica, Martha's Vineyard, Sonoma.... At any given moment I can close my eyes and conjure up the sight of you dancing without a care in the world--feeling the music and stealing the floor in the way only you can. I'm pretty sure a night at Sway would not be the same without you! You are an inspiration--the way you live large, travel far and wide, read extensively, accessorize impeccably, rule the iPod, master your career--and stay true to yourself at every turn. I can honestly say that the eleven years Scott & I have lived in San Francisco have not dimmed our friendship in the slightest. It may be a cliché, but in this case absence really does make the heart grow fonder. I appreciate your every effort to stay connected to me and to be such a loving Auntie Jobie to Rachel, Andrew & Elijah. We ALL look forward to our every visit with you—in NYC, SF, and every other meeting spot in between. Our girls--our familia--I don't know what I would do without all of you. I know that we will have each other forever and that our memories together will only continue to grow. Next stop--VEGAS!!! Happy 40th, my sweet-- I love you! Love Doobs (and Scoot too!)
JoJo, Birthday girl, you are a superstar! If anyone can rock 40, it’s you pretty girl! I love that I’ve known you for half my life (okay is that really true?) and that no matter how much time has passed between our visits, we fall back so easily into chatting and laughing up a storm like it’s been hours not months or, gasp, years since we saw each other last. In my old age I know how special that is, you are a friend for life and that makes me a very lucky girl. You are amazingly insightful and a wise soul and I appreciate all your sage advice over the years. I also appreciate how much fun you are and the crazy adventures you’ve dragged me on, too numerous to recount (or remember?)! I love you Jo, you’re an amazing friend and I can’t wait to meet up in exciting locales to celebrate our 80th with plenty more stories! Love, Liz
Dear Jobie, I could write a small novel, and we all know that I tend to go on a bit at times, but this time I'm going to try to keep it short and sweet.........when I think of you, so many words come to mind.....genuine, beautiful, stylish, fun, sensitive, cool, smart, adventurous, funny, loyal, thoughtful, loving, hot! I adore you and am so thankful to have you in my life. I can always count on you to listen, laugh, dance and just be there. In fact, you are one of the few people in the world with whom I can not talk and feel totally comfortable. There are really no words to describe what you've meant to me...especially during the past 4 years. You've helped me have fun again when no one else could and taken care of me when I couldn't quite pull it off. We know each other in a way we didn't before, and I can't imagine where I'd be without you. We've had a hell of a ride, but I think we've done pretty damn well! And I know we'll be there for each other for all the joy (and any challenges) in the future. I wish you the happiest of birthdays and am thrilled we are celebrating your 40th the way we should. No one wears 40 as gorgeously and as full of life as you do! I love you beyond words and look forward to the next 40. I know there are so many wonderful things to come. XXXOOO, Jenn
 Joanna, the Auntie!
Happy Birthday, Aunt Jobie!! Love, Naras
Happy, happy 40th birthday to my amazing friend Joanna! You are truly one of the most wonderful people I have ever known, and I am so blessed to call you my friend –- and my sister. Jobie, you are fabulous, gorgeous, and talented but more importantly you are a thoughtful, caring and loyal friend. You are strong – a survivor – but also kind and fun and giving. Beautiful on the outside and on the inside that girl that everyone wants to be and be with. Someone once said that a friend is someone who knows you – and still loves you. I feel blessed and honored everyday that you are my friend. We have shared more laughs than I could ever count and we’ve shed more than our fair share of tears together. I am so lucky to have you in my life, and to have had so many incredibly fun and meaningful times together – and so many more to come. Cheers to 15 years of friendship and to 40 years of Joanna – and to at least 40 more years of both! I love you! Michelle
Dearest Joanna, Welcome to the 40's!! I've had a bit of a head start and I can tell you that so far it's been a great ride. I expect you will have a wonderful time entering this next decade of your life. I have so many fond and fun memories spending time with you. Although I never lived in NYC with the gang I often felt as though I did with friends like you.All of my favorite memories with you involve two things - MUSIC and DANCING! One our very first bonding moments was some nightclub in NYC and dancing to 80's music. When I hear Terrance Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well" - I always think of you and smile, then get up out of my chair and dance in your honor. I remember your 30th birthday a short 10 years ago and....my oh so terrible karaoke serenade of "Joanna" by Kool and the Gang. Regardless of my dancing or singing abilities, you, Joanna always make me feel cool and part of the gang. :) Let us not forget Jenn's 30th in New Orleans - not only did we dance but we began our tenure as on the road roommate with Jane. Some of those highlights I recall are you and some hot boy in the bathroom. That is really all I remember but it seemed worth mentioning. Jen and Chris's wedding - Dancing. Scott and Debbie's Wedding - Dancing. Jenn and Simon's Wedding - Dancing. Brad and Michelle's Wedding - Dancing. My and Phil's Wedding - Mega-Dancing. Do you see the trend?? And my latest and greatest was my 40th birthday bash in Sonoma. What would we have done without DJ Jobie and her iPod skills? I dare to guess. But boy did we DANCE. Thank you for being kind, generous, smart, funny, and fun. I cherish every moment I get to spend with you. Phil and I love you both very much and hope this birthday is the hallmark of great things to come to you! We can't wait to spend time with you soon!!! Have a wonderful day (heck, take the whole month!) And of course, please always save a dance for me. XOXO Joe and Phil
 Jobie....the Fashionista!!
Dear Jobie, I love you like a sista We always dance like rockstars The next morning I usually have a blista And feel like I just came back from Mars.. You are so incredibly special, Jobie. I am so happy to have you in my life! Happy birthday always, Talybear
Joanna, For some reason, I have lost touch with almost all of my college friends along the way. Work has taken over, family has taken over and time has gotten more and more precious. And you, Joanna – are the one college friend who has completely stayed in my life and remained such an important part of my life. We are solid, you are part of me, and we are family. It is an amazing chemistry that we have. We were meant to be part of each other’s lives. It’s about the fun, but it’s not just about the fun - It’s about the love and the support and the family. I love you Jo – and I am so happy you are in my life. Andy
 Joanna the Traveller
To my best friend Joanna on her 40th birthday, a brief history of our friendship (aka ‘janeandjoanna’): February 1998: Birthday party at Velvet for Michelle, Debbie & Jen. Joanna, who has been holed up with takeout and movie rentals, makes a one-night-only debut! Terrence Trent D’arby emanating from the DJ booth. A sense of familiarity percolates. Dancing ensues. Dancing continues until the wee hours. Summer 1998: Jenn goes to Wharton, Michelle leaves for whirlwind global tour, then Harvard. Jane is sad. Joanna is sad. Michelle suggests sad Jane and sad Joanna console each other and go out to pick up hot men together. For Jane and Joanna, things are looking up again. Summer/Fall 1998: A phone friendship develops. The girls bond over relationships, music and their mutual appreciation of proper grammar and spelling (yes I vaguely remember a 10 minute conversation about the serial comma – notice proper exclusion above. It’s called growth). Summer 1999: Roseland Ballroom, Widespread Panic! Joanna goes *both* nights. Jane goes one night, thinking 2 is overkill, vows never to make that mistake again. A mutual love and respect blossoms. 1999-2011 (in no particular order): L’Express, Virgils, Sushi Samba, Houston’s, Frank, Mermaid Inn, Sunburnt Cow, Blue Ribbon, The Blue Parrot, Cafeteria, Global 33 (Globular Airlines), Elephant, Les Halles, Casimir, TanDa (mmm tians), Sage, Jacques Imo’s, Wetlands, Niagara, hospital suction cups, Twilo, Moomba, Sky Bar, Sway, Veruka, Bungalow, Hiro, Lit (permanent karaoke background vocals and microphone swings to the head), Beatrice Inn, Sway, Soho House, Talkhouse (Booga!), Hamachi creamy dressing, Hamptons Blackout, Northeast blackout and pasta at Café Della Pace, Crow’s Feet off Eagle Eye Road, Luscious Jackson, scuba lessons, Bond St shopping, rewiring the kitchen, jewelry beading, Kathy Griffin, Oat, Wheat, Flax and Corn (because you want what goes into your body to be as healthy as what comes out), Santana Supernatural all summer long, gubbins, The Fab Faux at the World Financial Center, Bonnaroo, Brooklyn Bowl, Yankees games, Daryl K, Barbara Feinman, The Moth, Jazzfest BSK, giving Warren Haynes a free taxi ride, Particle dance-off, wiggie WSP at the Beacon, snowboard lessons, ski lessons (why did we try snowboarding?), 4th of July fireworks, Martha’s Vineyard, Cartagena, Sanibel, Jamaica, Zihuatenejo, Morocco, Madrid, Turkey, Dominican Republic, You do your Dancing a-whoa-oh! (Woot woot Wend!), Sundays on my couch with Piccolo, Lost, Widespread at Irving Plaza, Beacon, Roseland, Hammerstein, Red Rocks, Toad’s Place, Asbury Park, Philips Hotlanta, Warfield SF, Charlotte, Raleigh, Memphis, Kens I, II & III, Outside Lands, eyelashes, VEGAS!!
Sister of mine, as I look back over the past 15 years, it almost seems crazy that we didn’t know each other our whole lives. I can hardly remember a time when we weren’t ‘janeandjoanna’. We’ve been through just about everything together – boyfriends and breakups, crazy fun summers, too many concerts to count (although I think we both still have the ticket stubs to show for it), friends’ weddings and children, lazy Sundays, powerful heartbreak and loss, and challenges that we’ve overcome. We’ve gone through the good and bad side by side, pushing each other to be the best versions of ourselves. For all the advice and shoulder-lending, for coaxing me back to sanity through anguished tears, for sharing bouts of hysterical laughter, and of course for the endless silent phone calls at work just so we weren’t alone, I have no way to form words to thank you. Just know that you’re stuck with me for good. There’s no cutting of the cord. I love you!! All my love and more, Janey
Joanna, I have this awesome memory of you in your wonder woman costume, belting it out on stage with Booga Suga! It was EPIC and we had the best night. Like so many other amazing times and EPIC nights......Happy Birthday! Love you, Wendy
Dear Joanna, You'll always be Wonder Woman to me! Love, Nicky Ray (See photo to the left =)
