27: History of the Dorris Ranch The 396 acre ranch, located North of Leakey, Texas, was purchase by Jerry and Annell Dorris in 1994. They wanted to have a place for family and friends to come relax, play, and do a little hunting. At the time there was a modest cabin on the property and no running water. Today the ranch looks a bit different. The cabin has been remodeled and enlarged to include a fully functioning bathroom. A bunkhouse has also been built to accommodate guests. Jerry passed away in 2004. He will forever keep watch over the ranch from his final resting place just inside the gate.
