The first place we arrived at was Jackson, Wyoming. We went to the Teton Village and rode a tram up to The Deck, a restaurant. The Deck was at the top of the Teton Mountains. The view was spectacular. We found a trail at the top of the mountains. There was snow! We made snowballs in July. July 24, 2011

While we were in Jackson, we stayed at the Painted Buffalo Inn. We walked to the center of the village and saw an arch made out of antlers. The town was really pretty.

July 25, 2011 We went on a river float down the Snake River that took us right next to the Grand Teton Mountains. There were bald eagles, pelicans, osprey, and blue heron. In the mountains, We saw a glacier. The ride was very peaceful. After the float, we had a picnic along a river. This was one of our favorite things to do. We waded in the water and collected colorful rocks.

We went on a covered wagon ride at Bar-T-Five. Two horses pulled our wagon. Their names were Dixie and Olive. People dressed up as mountain men and Indians. They rode horses and acted out scenes from back in the day. It was really awesome. We ate a true cowboy supper! BBQ chicken, cowboy beans, and homemade brownies. July 25, 2011

They had a band and a play. Tim, Taylor, Kayla, and Ryland went on stage and participated in the show. Taylor: yeehaw, Kayla and Ryland: Yum, Yum Tim: Ohhlala It was hilarious!

Grand Teton National Park Our first stop was the Lawerence Rockefeller Preserve. We hiked on a trail for about 1 1/2 miles to Phelps Lake. The area was beautiful. It was so clear we could see the rocks on the bottom. Phelps Lake was one of our favorite spots to visit in the Grand Tetons. The area was very peaceful and fun for the family. | On our hike, we had an activity bag. We used our five senses to create an alphabet book about our hike. If you completed the activities in the bag, you would earn a junior ranger badge. Taylor was successful at becoming a junior ranger after she recited a pledge. Congratulations Taylor! July 26, 2011

We drove to Jenny Lake in the Grand Teton Park. This was a very busy and crowded area. The waterfall was huge.

As we were on our way to Yellowstone, we saw 2 moose. It was AWESOME. They were so big. Many people pulled along the side of the road to see the moose.

July 27, 2011 We went to Artist Point. It was OUTSTANDING! It has reddish - orange dirt along the sides of the canyon. We saw the Upper Falls and the water was so powerful and beautiful.

As we were driving through Yellowstone, the roads were close to huge and steep cliffs. We did not feel very safe. The cliffs were SCARY! We all told dad to slow down and keep your eyes on the road. YIKES.

We passed through woods that were burnt in the 1988 wildfire. The petrified tree was neat. It was 50 million years old. A volcano erupted and covered the forest. There is a lot of history behind the tree. We also stood at the brink(top) of a waterfall. A rainbow appeared in the background of the falls.

A brown bear was spotted in the distance. A black bear was closer to the lookout spot. It was in a little valley climbing on logs. The bear was giant. The ranger told us it was looking for ground squirrel to eat. Rangers stood nearby so people would not get close to the wild animals which could attack at any moment. What an awesome sight! | The mule deer were everywhere. We could almost touch the mule deer, as we walked on the sidewalks.

The Roosevelt Lodge was a very tiny cabin. It was very primitive. We had to go to another building to shower and use the restroom. The small creek was fun to play in and collect rocks. In the evening, we went to the main lodge to play cards. It was freezing at night. Yes, at the end of July the temperatures would drop close to freezing.

Mammoth Hot Springs Water would flow down the limestone. The water was so hot that steam came off the water. The limestone would look orange in some places and like snow in other areas.

Prismatic Springs This was one of our last stops for the day and we were tired. To get a better view, we decided to hike to this mountain to see it. Well a quick trip became an hour long walk. The long tiresome hike was worth the view. The spring was 27 feet deep. It was so clear, you could see the bottom.

Old Faithful Snow Lodge July 28, 2011 This was a beautiful place. Today, we relaxed after a long day yesterday. We sat and watched Old Faithful Geyser erupt. We walked around the area and saw Old Faithful Inn. The inn was very old and made from logs.

July 28, 2011 Absoroka was a day of rest. We played cards and shot the rubber band gun at pop bottles. For supper, we went to the lodge and had a delicious supper.

July 29, 2011 We traveled to Deadwood, South Dakota. This is a small town with shops and gambling. In the evening we went to a rodeo. This was exciting. We loved the rodeo! It was a great experience, yet scary. We didn't want anyone to get hurt as the bulls charged the riders.

July 30, 2011 Deadwood, South Dakota We watched a parade along main street. The town was celebrating the 76ers days. There were acrobats , Indians, and babies on horses.

They had a reinactment of the Wild Bill's assassination. They also did a mock shoot out on the streets. The kids panned for gold at the Golden Boot Gold Mine. They found gold! We also took a tour of the mine.

 July 31, 2011 Mount Rushmore

 July 31, 2011 Crazy Horse

Custer State Park We drove around for awhile down some dirt roads. Finally, we saw a huge herd of buffalo. The buffalo just crossed the road whenever they wanted. Stay out of their way.

July 31, 2011 Wall Drug, yes the famous Wall Drug. This was a huge place full of shops. Unlike the cooler temperatures in the Yellowstone area, it was scorching hot here.

 July 31, 2011 Badlands, SD

Badlands | Tim and Taylor climbed to the top of the hill which was steeper then they thought. They both took a fall trying to get down.

The Badlands was the last stop on our trip. August 1, 2011, we traveled back to Glandorf, OH. We were in the car for 16 hours. This was an incredible vacation!
