Krista Patterson June 9, 2009 at 7:08pm | Hi Brandon! My name is Krista. I've never done this... | X | _________________________________________________________________________ | _________________________________________________________________________ | Our Story | This book is dedicated to our children. I'm not sure if you are a boy or a girl, if you have any brothers or sisters, or even your name right now. But I do know that someday, your Mom and I will want to share the story of how we met and fell in love. This book is about how I met your mother, and about how we found love. As you grow up, you'll probably be asking your mother and I when you know the time is right to marry the one you're with. Hopefully, this book will shed some light on that. (By the way if you're a girl, the answer: the guy's going to have to get by me first! Love you!) If it wasn't for your Mom's courage back in 2009, we may have never met...

My name | is Krista. | Krista Patterson June 9, 2009 at 7:08pm My name is Krista. I've never done this before but I came across your profile (I'm a friend of Angela and Megan Sweet) and thought you looked like a nice guy (not to mention good looking). So I thought I would message you and maybe we can chat and get to know each other better. :o) LoL I know this is totally random!

Brandon Bohland June 10, 2009 at 10:28am Hey Krista. You’re right about the totally random comment! I have to admit, it takes a lot of courage to send me a message like that so I’ll have to give you some credit. What if I were to tell you I was a complete jerk? I’m really not, or at least I don’t think I am but I sure could’ve been! So do you live in Toledo? I just bought a place in Sylvania and love the area. Where do you hang out because I don’t know if I’ve ever seen you around...

Krista Patterson June 10, 2009 at 6:47pm Well I'm glad you’re not a jerk lol! It took a lot for me to message you, like I said I have never done that before! Congrats on the house! I actually grew up in Sylvania so it is really familiar to me. I went to Sylvania Northview HS. It is a great area. If you don't mind me asking, what part of Sylvania? My parents still live in Sylvania, they live around the Centennial Quarry area. I live in Toledo now, I purchased my house a little over 3 years ago. I bought a duplex around the Douglas and Central area so I rent out half and live in the other half.

I haven't gone out much yet this Spring/Summer. I have had a lot of house parties to go to and our family has a cottage, so on our free time we are usually there playing on the water :o) But if I do get out in Toledo I'm usually at Arnies or El Camino. I don't think I have ever seen you out either :o) Where do you usually go? Have you always lived in the Toledo area? Well like I said I'm glad you aren't a jerk and didn't cuss me out or something lol :o) Looking forward to hearing from you! Krista

Brandon Bohland June 11, 2009 at 12:30am Hey, thanks for the congrats! I was going to rent for another year because I didn't know if I was going to move away or not, but I landed a pretty good job here so I think I'm here for the long run! I don't mind you asking. The place I bought is actually a condo right on Sylvania country club off of Monroe street behind the Melting Pot and Promedica building. That's funny you have a duplex because I was seriously considering doing the same thing you're doing, but I couldn't pass up this deal on this place. It's nice because I don’t have to do any yard maintenance -- I do some travel for work so the condo thing sounded like a good idea. Plus I got it in foreclosure for a pretty good now it's gonna be me, the condo and my tool belt for awhile until I get it to how I want it. I haven't been out that much since this horrible winter ended either...but if I do go out, I usually go to el camino, down to the docks or downtown bars on the I probably have seen you at el camino at some point. | really are beautiful...

That's cool your family has a cottage. My mom has one in northern MI that I can't stay away from in the summer...I love being around any kind of water! The only thing is that it's a four hour I usually have to debate between the cottage or Chicago. Geez this message is getting long...yeah I've always lived in Toledo and graduated from Central. I wasn't sure if I was going to move for the longest time because a lot of my friends moved off after college, but I really do like it here. There's enough to do if you get creative. Another, I'm still kind of curious about you...What do you do for a living? And you really are beautiful, but you don't have a boyfriend? ...or do you and you're using me because the bf is getting kind of old...need a little spice...knew it. haha! By far the longest message I've ever written. Chapter 2 is probably next! Brandon

Krista Patterson June 12, 2009 at 6:14pm Ok hmmm where should I start? Thank you for the compliment, you’re not too bad yourself!! ;o) No I don't have a boyfriend. I have to say, I really like your quote you have on your page about achieving your goals. It says a lot! Sounds like the condo is ideal for you, especially if you travel for work! Do you have a lot you want to do to it? Sounds like you’re pretty handy?! The Duplex worked out really well for me (as long as I can keep getting some good renters) I don't mind the yard work for the most part. My yard is not very big anyway. I had a hard time with the thought of renting something like an apartment, at least this way it’s an investment. That’s great that you have a cottage too! That does stink that it's 4 hours away though! My family's cottage is in Indiana about 2 1/2 hours from Toledo. Even at that distance it’s hard to just go for one night stay. I just love boats and water! I just tried Wake Surfing not too long ago! It’s really fun especially to watch people that really know what they’re doing! I got up but couldn't quite catch the wake to let go of the rope! Maybe next time :o) Chicago's a good time! What do you do when you go there? |'re not too bad yourself!! ;o)

Wow my message is getting kinda long too... I have to say I absolutely love my job! I work for Verizon Wireless. I have been there for about 2 years now. My title is Assistant Retail Sales Operations. I am in charge of all the back of the house store operations, inventory specialist, and audit. The best perk is I can (for the most part) make my own schedule so I have every other weekend as a four day weekend!! The job I had before that was at David Fairclough Fine Jewelers (I'm sure you have heard the commercials with the english accent! I know... there kinda annoying) I was in sales there for about 8 years and I still work there one day a week. What do you do that sends you traveling? Go anywhere fun? And you thought your message was long......ha! I noticed you have a twin brother! That’s awesome! I am assuming you guys are really close?! I have a sister that I love to death! I can't imagine the bond we would have if we were twins! Ok... ok I will stop! LOL. I'm looking forward to reading "chapter 2" :o) Krista

Brandon Bohland June 14, 2009 at 11:48pm Chapter 2...Krista! Hey, I want to apologize for taking so long to respond. I was tearing down wallpaper all weekend at my place and didn’t get on my computer long enough to write chapter 2! Thanks for the comment about the quote about the goals...I'm all about following through with what you want to do in life...I could really go on for hours about it, but that's my next book! Lol So, all weekend I was taking down wallpaper...2500 square feet of there was wallpaper on top of wallpaper...the only break I really had was going to church today...not the best weekend! But, I'm still really glad I got the condo. I do have a lot I'm going to be doing to it...tearing down walls, new kitchen layout, new bathrooms, etc. I'm gonna be doing all of it myself, so it might take a little longer than normal, but I like doing stuff like that, plus it should save me some money. I think you did it right by buying the duplex instead of going the renting route. Real estate is probably the best investment to make...and like you said, as long as you keep getting renters, you're all set. How long have you lived there? My friend lives in that same area and really likes it over there.

Where's your cottage in Indiana? My parents used to have one in Fremont, IN (the Yogi Bear and Boo Boo campground...Jellystone Park). I actually got ran over by Yogi Bear there, but that's a story in itself for another day! I'm with you about loving boats and water. I love anything around water, but especially love the jet can’t get me off those things. So you tried wake boarding? I can’t say I’ve ever tried it...not sure how long I would last. It would be fun to try though! You would’ve probably beat me by just getting up. Chicago's so much fun. My brother's girlfriend has a condo right on Wabash Ave. in downtown, so we stay there every time we go. I’m a Cubs fan, so we usually make it down to Wrigleyville a few times/year to see some games. Do you ever go there?

Brandon Bohland June 14, 2009 at 11:48pm Chapter 3...I think that's awesome you love your job. It sounds like you have a lot of responsibility there...and you get to make your own schedule?? ...who wouldn’t love that? Especially the four day weekends. I would be in heaven in the summer! Of course I've heard the David Fairclough commercials on the radio. I try to imitate him every time I hear the commercials. Didn’t they just have a thing this weekend to find a ring in downtown? I saw DF interviewed on the news was good to put a face to the voice finally! haha. I've been at my job for almost a year and absolutely love it. I source a few materials that we need for the solar panel, so I get to visit mines and suppliers all over the world. So far, I've been to Canada, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland and the UK. I never usually go anywhere in the US, but if I do, it's to Denver or Phoenix. I don’t know if you would call it fun, because my trips are usually so fast, I don’t get much time to get out and see much. Maybe after I've been there a little longer I can start giving myself a break and scheduling more time to visit the places I go!

Yeah, I have a twin brother. You probably saw our pictures from Twinsburg haha. We have cousins that are twins too, and they had been going to this twins festival in Twinsburg (outside of Cleveland) for a few years, and kept begging us to come with them. So we finally gave in and haven’t stopped going since...I think we've been going there for 7 years now and we can’t wait for it to come every year. We are pretty close, he actually moved in with me. He was on his way to Cleveland, but just decided to break up with his girlfriend so I told him I had an extra room. But we hang out a lot so I guess we're pretty close. That's good that you and your sister have such a strong bond. I think it's so important to be close with family. So what do you like to do besides go to your cottage and el camino? By the way, I was being nosy and looking through your pictures...I really like your haircut, and you make it look really good rocking the red! Ok, I think I'm done, and I'll make sure I respond sooner next time! Have a great night! Brandon

I really like your haircut, and you make it look really good rocking the red!

Krista Patterson June 15, 2009 at 4:45pm Ahh tearing down wallpaper, been there done that! Never an easy or clean process! I had to do that at my place too! Except I didn't have 2 layers. The issue I had was that the paper was coming down but the glue was staying up! So I had a gloppy mess to scrape off the walls. Other than that I like doing that kind of stuff too. It’s great that you can do all that yourself! I had a lot to do when I moved in too. I purchased it in February of 2006. I first had to have all the electrical redone, then came all new windows, roof, garage door, paint, carpet, kitchen flooring, most of the appliances. It’s fun doing renovations, it’s a great feeling of accomplishment when you get to see the end result! I didn't want to get too carried away with the renovations. I don't want to put more into it than I will ever get out of it if I decided to sell. I do love the area! I'm only a 1/2 mile from Ottawa Park. Speaking of things I like to do... I have an extreme passion for working out and running! I have a hard time going a day without it! It’s my outlet! It’s amazing the effect it has on your thoughts and your outlook on things. I'm also kind of a health nut! I try to eat really well which has a lot to do with how you feel and think. So being that close to the park is the best perk! You look like you might workout too? <---(like how I slid that compliment in there?) LOL

When I'm not working out I spend a lot of time with my sister, my niece and my nephew. They are a riot! Kyle is 4 and he has a great mix of his parent’s personalities! He cracks me up! They have a large piece of property up in Michigan so they have a lot of bonfire parties in the summer. I have heard of Fremont Indiana and Jellystone, but I can't say I've ever been there. I have got to hear more about this "run in" you had with Yogi Bear! LOL Our cottage is in Warsaw on Winona lake it’s just south of South Bend. The cottages have been through several generations of our family. My parents grew up there. So I have been around water my whole life. My cousins have the cottage right next door. So when everyone is there it’s a good time!

Krista Patterson June 15, 2009 at 4:45pm Wave Runners are so much fun! We used to have 2. You can really lose track of time on those things! I almost lost all my bottom teeth on one... but that’s a story for another time! lol I actually have not tried wake boarding. I was going to last time I was there but didn't get a chance. Wake surfing is totally different. With wake surfing you are on a surfboard (no bindings). You get pulled up out of the water like you would skiing but you have a shorter rope. Once you are up you pull yourself closer to the boat with the rope until you are riding the wake of the boat and you don't need the rope to pull you anymore... so you throw it back into the boat! At this point the tip of your surfboard is about 3 feet from the boats platform! (As you can tell I was totally AMAZED by this!!) One of our neighbors at our cottage does it so he took us out to try it. | Summer 2010 She got up on her first try wake boarding

You mentioned you went to church on Sunday?! Thats great! I try to get there as often as I can but... well, I'm sure you know how that goes! :o) It says a lot about a person that is faithful. My grandfather was a pastor so I grew up going to church. Where do you go? This messaging is kinda crazy but fun! I'm not sure of your situation. I'm assuming there is no girlfriend because of your status on your profile. Otherwise you probably would have stopped messaging...?! Anyway, now that we know each other better we should go out and get some drinks some time. Wow... I think I may have been stumbling over my keyboard just to ask you that!!! LOL Thanks for the compliment on the hair! I cut it about a year ago! That was kind of a big thing for me.. another long story for some other time :o) The red is kinda fun! My stylist finally talked me into it! So I appreciate the compliment. I hope your week is more interesting than your weekend of wallpaper! -Krista | We should | go out some time

Brandon Bohland June 16, 2009 at 7:22pm Wow, it really sounds like you've done a lot to your place. I'm with you that it's such a good feeling to see what you've done when you're all finished...can’t wait to get to that point! I don’t think I could agree with you more about working out and running!! ...haha thanks for the compliment you slid in there...It’s really hard to go a day without it. The past few weeks has been killing me though because I’m in the MBA program at UT and I have class on Mon. and Wed. nights, so I've had to skip couple days! I completely got that one mixed up about the boarding vs. surfing. You definitely would’ve gotten a lot further than I have! I really don’t think I would even be able to stand up but it sounds like it would be a lot of fun...I don’t even know if I’ve ever seen anyone do that but the way you explain it makes it sound pretty hard.

Yeah, I really try to make it every Sunday to church but, well....I know exactly how that goes. I go to Crossroads right off of 23 in Michigan. I’m actually in the band there and play probably about once every month or two. That's really cool that your grandfather was a you probably had the inside scoop on everything! Yeah you slipped over your keyboard writing that! haha, I was just reading along and that one popped up out of nowhere! I was going to actually going to ask you the same thing in this response but you beat me to it ;) I started playing volleyball with some people from work until about 8 on Friday nights so I should be free after that and thru the weekend...and Thurs night after 9 is another option now that I think about it. Your call :) ...but you should give me a call...419-376-4544 Hope you have a great week! Brandon

Krista Patterson June 16, 2009 at 9:26pm That’s very impressive that you play in the band at Crossroads. I have been wanting to go there. I grew up going to the Sylvania United Methodist and my parents wanted to try Cedar Creek so we have been going there. They have been to Crossroads a couple times and really liked it. I might just have to make a visit ;o) Sorry I beat you to the punch. I'm free Friday or Saturday I'll let you pick since you have volleyball on Friday. I'm up for anything :o) Here's my number...419-351-4279 Looking forward to it! Krista | Here's my | number

Your Mom and I met just that next Saturday, June 20, 2009 in downtown Toledo. The night we met, it seemed like it was too good to be true. After talking to her for just this one night, I knew there was something special about her. I tried to find something wrong with your Mom for over a month and a half, and was unsuccessful. We started dating on August 8, 2009. Since then, I have yet to find a flaw with your Mother. I have never known that being in love with someone could be so rewarding. In the year and a half since we've been dating, we've gone to weddings, cottages, concerts, grocery stores, football games, church, parties, restaurants, and vacations together...anything that I've done, your mom has done with me, and vice versa, and we have had a great time doing all of those things together. In the beginning of this book, I said I would help you understand when you know the time is right... | What Happened Next

When | You Know | My whole life, I had always wondered if I had met my wife yet. Maybe she was in my high school, one of my college classes, a neighbor. Maybe she walked by me in the street and I didn't even know it. What if she was halfway around the world? I just never knew. I used to pray to God to give me patience to wait for the one to come along (I had really dated some crazy ones, and it didn't seem to be getting any better!). I have always told your Mom to thank Grammy and Grampy Patterson for creating someone so beautiful, but she also needs to thank them for the person she is on the inside. I am more than amazed with who God has introduced me to. Your Mom is nothing but the most generous, caring, beautiful and loving person you will ever meet.

So when will you know? I wrote this book in December of 2010 and was still dating your Mother. People were always asking me when I was going to propose to your Mother. Did I know she was the one? When you know it's right, you won't be able to describe what love is or what it feels like; it will be something out of your control. You'll know it's right when when you smile just from looking the person. You'll know when you thank God every night for sending you someone so perfect when you thought perfect people didn't exist. It will be right when you can't wait to tell her about how exciting your day was, or when you're there for her in the hard times. Of course I knew your Mom was the one when I wrote this book. I knew she was it on June 20, 2009 when I was walking out to my car after our first date. Your Mother and I weren't engaged until after I gave her this book. In fact, we weren't engaged until after she read the next page. So kids, the best advice I can give you about love, is that when you know... Love, Dad | You Just Know
