FC: Land Biomes of the USA
Tundra | extremely cold temperatures | is located between the north pole and the coniferous forests.
Climate | This area has low precipitation less than 10 inches and extremely cold temperatures below minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
cold and dark conditions | Vegetation
dry conditions, frozen ground, vegetation in arctic tundra regions is limited | Examples of tundra vegetation hort shrubs, grasses, lichen's, mosses, sedges, perennial forbs, rosette, and dwarfed shrubs.
Autumn Leaves Are Falling Down | Wildlife | Snowy owls, reindeer, polar bears, white foxes, lemmings, arctic hares, wolverines, caribou, migrating birds, black flies, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears, spring tails, beetles.
Coniferous forests | It extends from northern New England to the Great Lakes and Minnesota. Portions of the Western High Areas and the Marine West Coast are also included, as is the central interior of Alaska THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS.
 - The temperature range is extreme *short warm on summers * long cold and dry winters | Climate | The yearly rainfall is between 50 and 125 centimeters
Vegetation | Trees that live in these Biomes are needle-leaved trees, or conifers | Conifers produce their seeds in cones | Conifers are well adapted to living in the cold, they can begin photosynthesis as soon as temperatures are warm enough.
Examples of Coniferous forests vegetation include: firs, spruces, pines, giant redwoods.
Wildlife | During the growing season, this Biome can be quite productive in both natural and agricultural ecosystems | Large stands dominated by a single species are common.
Deciduous Forests | 'Deciduous' means to shed - deciduous trees shed their leaves once a year.
Climate | The average temperature in temperate deciduous forests is roughly 75F (24C) but gets as high as 86F (30C), depending on the altitude of the forest. | Deciduous trees lose their leaves in autumn.
Vegetation | A deciduous forest generally has 3,4 or even 5 layers of plants: Top layer, or canopy: tall deciduous trees. Although the canopy is quite thick, which encourages the other layers to grow. The 2nd layer: saplings and shorter kinds of trees The 3rd layer, : shrubs. The 4th layer: forest herbs, such as wildflowers and berries. The 5th layer: mosses and lichens that grow on tree trunks.
You can found bears, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, wood mice, and deer. Animals like bobcats, elk, bison, mountain lions, timber wolves, and coyotes | Wildlife
A wide variety of mammals, birds, insects, and reptiles
Climate | Melting snow in spring and rain during summer provide water for streams and ponds | Sometimes it have cold temperatures
Tropical Rain Forest. | characterized by the greatest diversity of species | the rain forest is close to the equator
Climate | 20-25 C and varies little throughout the year: | the average temperatures of the three warmest and three coldest months do not differ by more than 5 degrees.
Vegetation | Tropical Rainforest Biomes Have Four Strata | The Emergent Layer comprises of giant trees The Canopy Layer The irregular, broad crowns of the trees The Understory dark and cool place it receives only 2 to 15 percent of the sunlight The Forest Floor The floor of the forest gets less than 2 percent of the sunlight
Fall is here! | plants have made adaptations, which help them to shed water
Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn. ~Elizabeth Lawrence | Wildlife | It hAve most beautiful and strangest of animals in all their myriad variety | Torangutan, jaguar, harpy eagle, chimpanzee, golden lion tamarind monkey, gorillas, toucans, parrots, and many moreoucans, trantulas, gorillas, frog that can fly, a rabbit sized antelope, a spider species that eats birds
Climate | very warm, it has an average annual temperature of greater than 20 degrees celsius. The main climate control of the tropical rainforests are latitude. | They also have very little seasonal variation in temperature or day length, which is very favorable for plant growth. | he tropical rainforest's temperature ranges from 20 to 25 degrees celsius and they have more than 250 centimeters of annual rainfall.
Grasslands | In the middle of North America is a huge area of land which was once covered with grasses and colorful wild flowers
from Canada to Texas and Nebraska to the Great Lakes.
Climate | warm and dry which is pretty temperate. In a grassland biome, between 25 and 75 cm of rainfall yearly | with hot summers and cold winters | There is more precipitation in the summer time then there is in the winter
Vegetation | There is mainly grass | There are some palm trees in savannahs, flowering perennials
Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn. ~Elizabeth Lawrence | Wildlife | coyotes, prairie dogs, gophers, antelope, bison, eagles, wild turkey, Canadian geese, bobcats, the gray wolf, fly catchers, and various types of insects. There are similar animals that inhabit the steppes, such as foxes, falcons, antelopes, and the lynx.
