1: Growing up in Garden City, there was never a shortage of local storms around. I was always impressed at the amount of force generated by nature. My interest in photography began during my first year in optometry school. This was when I bought my first Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Camera. This specific type of camera allows you to manipulate many different aspects of how a picture is taken, which is needed when shooting pictures at night. During my third year, a storm with a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning rolled into town, and I tried to take some pictures of the lightning with very little success. With the help of the Internet, many hours of practice and the aid of a few specific photographers, I was able to improve my technique. Since then, whenever a storm develops nearby, you'll likely find me outside trying to get some stills of the storm. | THE PHOTOGRAPHER
