2: ASPCA 100K CHALLENGE 2011 | To celebrate DAS's 1st birthday, we participated in a national contest! DAS ranked in 21st place among 114 applying shelters.

3: Cats and dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. - Bettina Eddie | A combined 487 animals were saved during August, September and October 2011 - a 25.3% increase over 2010!

6: September 2011 | We participated in the 9th Annual Huntsville Obedience Training Club's (HOTC ) Dog Fair.

7: HOTC Dog Fair

8: Volunteers raffled off animal theme quilts during the Morgan County Fair in September 2011. There were also cats and dogs available for adoption and several animals were adopted on the spot!

12: Happy Halloween

13: DAS staff and volunteers had some fun dressing up for Halloween. One of our volunteers even made a "Kitty Litter" Cake!

16: Decatur Animal Services won “Best Decorated Animal Unit” in 2011. Volunteers walked over 30 dogs in the parade! The $100 prize was used to reduce adoption fees on 5 lucky animals who needed a little help finding a new home.

18: Home for the Holidays | In December, DAS had a Home for the Holidays party. There were door prizes, treats, a bake sale and even Santa took some time out of his busy schedule to grant a Christmas wishes for 22 animals who went to their forever homes that day!

20: Valentine's Bake Sale | What a success our bake sale was! We raised over $600 that we used to lower adoption fees of the shelter animals.

24: STOP the Stork Baby Shower | Spay | Neuter | Adopt

25: The shower was an all day "come and go" event. We had several drawings for prizes, a silent auction of paw print art, handmade jewelry for sale, and a puppy and kitten to play with. We collected a ton of much needed supplies which the shelter promptly put to good use!
