S: I Love You - a book made by James K. Tacy for Cayla jo Nelson

BC: To Be Continued... :)

FC: Dear Cayla jo, | August 18th, 2011

There is a lot I want to say to you and that I could have said, | Cayla. But this is what I am going to say for now!

It is not easy finding the words to talk about a friendship like ours, which is weird and wonderful, considering how close we have become.

There have been times when we both needed a shoulder to lean against and sigh on, or just a hug after a long, hard day.

But what makes friendship, especially a friendship like ours, so special!?! We know that being with other people and bringing people together are very fulfilling experiences. | Cayla, there are many different types of friends. From the person we simply smile at and high-five over the table at the MC or in classes we take, to childhood pals, to the gang we hang out with from time to time, even imaginary friends. There are also those lucky individuals with whom we are especially close!!

Genuine friendships are founded on a shared vision—the view that our lives are somehow better because that particular person is a part of them. Despite numerous differences, real friends see eye to eye on all important issues that matter. Common values, passions, concerns, and mutual respect enhance our life experiences as a whole. | Friends genuinely care about each other. Oh Cayla, I genuinely care about you!! So much! You can count on me pal to watch your back and look out for your best interest. This faith in one another grows as we help each other move forward in life.

It’s that same trust we count on when we decide to share secrets, ask if our tie is straight, or need our hair adjusted a tiny bit. A friend is there to help keep our chin up, no matter what it takes. A friend knows when we need a hug or a good tension-relieving back scratch/rub. Friends know when to offer serious counsel and thoughtful, heartfelt advice. They know when to say, “Hey! Why the long face? Snap out of it!”

I know there was a void in your heart and something missing in our relationship for you. It was a firm foundation of trust. Cayla, I hope you remember that night we talked and never forget it. I sincerely meant what I said to you. I pray you know now for sure that you can trust me with everything and anything. It’s like a new beginning. It’s not going to be easy but I know we can work through things and we both WANT to work through things together. You mean so much to me.

A true friend also knows they can just sit quietly beside you and say nothing at all. One of best things about our friendship, Cayla, is that we have fun together. Lots of fun! We have adventures and can sing and yell and get ourselves in crazy, enjoyable situations that wouldn’t make a lot of sense to anyone else.

We aren’t perfect, Cayla. You’re human, I’m human; we can’t avoid it. At points, we eventually have to shrug our shoulders, forgive, and move on. Because that’s what eternal friends do.

By far the worst thing about having special friends is when they have to leave or go back to their apartment or homeland. Thinking about losing that special friend can make us sad. But it reminds us how important our friend is and that they cannot be replaced.

No one can replace you in my life, Cayla. You could search the whole world looking for a friendship like ours, and you would only wear out a good pair of feet. | A true friend is someone you can really pour out your heart to. They are an individual who can invigorate and inspire us and make us feel comfortable. A real friendship is something we both have to build upon. In many ways, it’s a journey we take together, by being ourselves every day.

We have to be true to ourselves before we can be true to each other. I know we have taken the time to get to know each other. Finding that friend with whom we’ll grow closer together with as we get older is worth investing a little time and energy into finding out who they really are.

We all want and deserve a friend with whom we truly connect in a meaningful way. Someone who acknowledges our fears and limitations without judgment and encourages us to reach farther than we thought we ever possibly could. A person we can trust. A friend with whom we can share things that are most precious to us—belly laughs, and the sorrows of life. A friend who will see our hidden qualities and like us for exactly who we are without reservation; helping us to fulfill our extraordinary potential.

You are my true friend. You make me smile as soon as I see you waving to me from across the room. You lighten my heart without even trying. Time spent together with you feels like a little slice of Christmas. This connection we have is completely unique. At times, it’s as if we are the only two people on this earth. Friendship is a special type of partnership based on the understanding that together, the impossible becomes possible. It’s an unspoken commitment to help each other live our lives to the fullest.

I know how lucky I am to have a friend like you. I just want to tell you that no matter what happens, you will never be alone. You will always be my best friend, Cayla. Always. | If I tell you I love you, can I keep you forever? | When I say, "I love you," it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try, Cayla. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen some of the best and some of the worst of you. I understand with a degree of some clarity exactly who you are. You're a Daughter of God.

Cayla, I want to spend the rest of my life making you smile. Sometimes I wonder if it’s really worth it; then, I look at your smile and I know it is. It's one of the things I love about you. I have fallen in love many times over these past couple months....... always with you. “It takes three seconds to say, ‘I love you.’ Probably three hours to explain it.” Cayla, you deserve my lifetime for me to prove that. There are two times that I want to be with you... Now and Forever. We share this world for a brief moment in time. I want you to keep this love I have for you, with you...Forever. Cayla, you have helped change me for the better. You’ve made me a man by loving me and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you for dating me and being with me, Cayla. I want to start a chapter of our lives together. . . Don’t be afraid to fall in love with me.

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You! | "To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides." ~ David Viscott

You’re one of the best friends I ever had. Everything I do I would rather have you there. Washing Betty, going to the store, shopping, or traveling on a road trip, everything turns out better when you are around. I’ve told you things I know you will never tell anyone and I think you have never thought the less of me for it. You never have a best friend like the first one you have when you know who you are and are comfortable with yourself and not competing all the time with them, and inside that’s a person you know you can love deep.

Cayla, I hope you know that I love that you get cold hands. I love that it takes you an hour to get ready and a half an hour to choose what to eat. I love that you get a little crinkle in your nose when you're looking at me like I'm nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I want to spend the evening with you also. I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. I asked you to come to Georgia because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

Cayla, will you be my beautiful bride? Will you marry me? P.S. I love you P.S.S. I know you didn’t really need a ring. That you just needed me. But I still got you a ring!
