S: A Hippocrates Paradise

FC: Hippocrates | by Murari Parasu

Hippocrates is known as "the father of medicine". He is known for separating sicknesses and diseases from religion. Back then, everyone thought that people became sick as a punishment of the gods, and the gods were the only people that could cure it. Hippocrates declared this as a false belief, and proved that sicknesses were caused naturally and could be cured with medicines, not by sorcery, magic, or by the gods.

Medicine is undoubtedly one of the most important things that we have. Without it, it would be nearly impossible to cure sicknesses and diseases. Thanks to Hippocrates, people could learn to accurately create and use medicines to heal the sick people instead of relying to "miracles from the gods". Today, we can fight back and overcome almost all diseases and sicknesses thanks to medicine, but even if there isn't a medicine to cure a sickness/disease, there is still most likely a medicine/treatment to "stall" the sickness from doing more harm. Medicines are part of what is "the truth" because it does its job that other people depend | upon, which is to cure sick people, and the gods never could do this because they can't directly interfere with Earthly problems.

 The Hippocratic Oath

Hippocrates also wrote the Hippocratic Oath. The Hippocratic Oath is an oath to be taken by physicians that is still used today. By taking the oath, you have sworn to practice medicine honestly and ethically. It also requires you to swear to the healing gods(Apollo, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea). | Hippocratic | The oath also basically states that you won't harm others. For example, "Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy", "I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work", "I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody if asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect"

Physicians are people whose jobs are all about helping people maintain and/or restore their health through the treatment of diseases or injuries. Physicians are extremely important to our modern society because they greatly help in curing people of their sicknesses and diseases.

This is a great quote, and it should be a habit of everyone. In a way, this quote summarizes the work of Hippocrates, because he made it known that diseases and sicknesses are natural and not from god, and this helped people "move forward", and it didn't harm anyone. This quote also sums up the work of physicians because they help their patients recover from their sicknesses, and they don't harm them in any way.

In ancient times, when people didn't have knowledge about the sciences, they would make assumptions on how everything worked, which usually involved sorcery and the gods. The gods were thought to have direct control over everything. This belief caused another belief to come up which was that the gods were the ones that gave people sicknesses, and it was a punishment. Hippocrates was able to gather the proof that this belief was false. <--- Morgan Freeman(AKA God)

In ancient times where there were countless superstitions about god, religious beliefs would claim that the gods gave people diseases and sicknesses as punishments. Back then, religion was far more important than it is today, and it still is important today, and everyone would follow their religion greatly, and they would also infuse it with their governments, which are called theocracies.

Nature is most likely "the truth" in the work of Hippocrates. It represents the Earth, or the mortal world. Instead of coming from the gods, sicknesses and diseases can come from nature(ex. mosquitoes and malaria), and the cure can also be found in nature.

Magic and sorcery were believed to be the only way how someone could get cured from a sickness back then. People thought that someone who could perform sorcery/magic could cure a sick person. "God's magic" was also another thing that was believed to be able to give people diseases and also cure the diseases.

Hippocrates was the greatest physician of his time, and physicians are associated with helping their patients heal from their sicknesses. Taking care of your body is the most important thing for every individual, because your body let's you do everything you can do. When the body gets an illness, it usually becomes weak, and many illnesses can be lethal. Today, we can recover from illnesses easily, and we owe our thanks to Hippocrates because he led humanity on the right track towards creating functional medicines.

Positive Outcomes Mankind gets led on the right track and away from superstitions.

Negative Outcomes Hippocrates could've gotten himself into danger because back then, people to religion really really seriously and might have been offended at his "ideas".
