4: Millennium Kids is a not-for-profit youth organization that has been providing unique and exciting learning opportunities for schools and communities for the past 13 years. Our mission is to have young people be aware and active in their local community around issues of interest and concern to themselves. Millennium Kids Inc. has and continues to be recognized as a leader in the areas of youth engagement, empowerment and practical action by all levels of government, corporates and other NGOs across Australia.
5: The Millennium Kids ethos is centered on the UN Agenda 21: Chapter 25 Children and Youth in Sustainable Development: 25.1. Youth Comprise nearly 30 per cent of the worlds populations. The involvement of today's youth in environment and development decision making and in the implementation of programmes is critical to the long-time success of Agenda 21.

18: The Big Switch Experiment is a kid-driven initiative that encourages people to take positive action against Climate Change. It was developed in 2008 when Millennium Kids asked hundreds of kids about what they liked and what they did not like about their community. Climate Change was the number one concern, so Millennium Kids has been working with students to develop this program to help kids make positive change. In schools across the Western Suburbs, South Perth and Kalgoorlie students have been creating Climate Change Campaigns to ‘switch’ people’s thinking and get them to make more environmentally sustainable choices.

22: The TravelSmart EatSmart program brings together students in Years 5 -7 to learn about the Environment and Sustainability. The program encourages students to develop a TravelSmart plan that encourage students to walk, ride, car pool or catch public transport to school to reduce greenhouse emissions, increase physical activity and decrease traffic congestion around the school. Students will had an opportunity to develop an EatSmart activity as part of their plan.

25: Web 2.0 online Technologies www.millenniumkids.ning.com | The Swan Canning River basin has undergone extensive land use changes in the 20th Century and is facing serve threats from 21st Century urban development, climate change and agricultural land use. The Swan-Canning Online Schools project is a joint initiative of the Centre for Water Research at the University of WA and the Curtin Water Quality Research Centre at Curtin University of Technology. It presents a simple strategy for reversing the current degradation of the Swan-Canning River Basin by setting up modern adaptive management system that will allow the Swan-Canning River Basin and its receiving water to be managed sustainably for the benefit of the Western Australian Community. Millennium Kids is also a partner of this project, capturing the social history of the river through the past and future work of Western Australian school students.

30: Kids Creating Concepts | The Listen Up! workshop series was a result of Millennium Kids, in partnership with the Public Transport Authority consulting with young people in regards to anti-social behaviour at bus stations, train stations and shopping centres.

34: Certificate I in Leadership and Sustainability | Morapoi Station, 180km north of Kalgoorlie was the location of the 2009 Certificate I in Leadership and Sustainability. Sponsored by Trish Rechichi and Challenger TAFE young people took part in adventure planning, environmental audits, risk management and assessment, facilitation, public relations, event management and experienced close encounters of the environmental kind. The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Youth Council are also participants in this training with the aim to develop skills they require for future employment and leadership roles. The Certificate I aims to encourage participants to push their boundaries and increase their confidence and decision making ability.
