S: Cancun 2011

The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. St. Augustine | Arrival at the Cancun Airport, October 15, 2011. The unnamed, (yet clearly developing) tropical storm was a bit frightening! | Cancun

Arrival in room 1140 at Temptation Resort and Spa. Celebrating our safe arrival with the bottle of sparkling wine left for us, and trying to decide if we wanted to go out to dinner in the windy/stormy conditions. It was fun and romantic to sit and talk while just trying to chill out from such a long flight!

Saturday night and Sunday morning were a disaster with the storm! | Endured shaking/shrieking windows from fierce wind, and torrential rainfall that flooded our room!

Michael walked the beach in the storm, then he was standing in the wind/rain for this picture right after breakfast. I had always wondered what a tropical storm would be like, now I know!! | This open area was boarded up soon after we took this picture because the hotel was flooding from the rain/wind - it was so dangerous to walk in the slippery halls! We still had fun and just laughed it off!

Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind. Seneca | Hotel switched our room to 1102 on Sunday because of flooding, this room is much nicer and still ocean front - things are getting better already!

We were very happy the room was dry and the jacuzzi tub worked! We filled up our tumblers with vodka from the bar and hung out in the room Sunday afternoon. | I couldn't wear my hair down or any make-up because of the blowing rain, we also realized by this time that room service and the butler did not exist, despite the drops of love package we paid extra for - boo!

Outside bars were closed, halls were too slippery for nice shoes, couldn't get any service in the room, had to go out to dinner in the bad weather, awesome! Slipped and broke my heel in the hall! | Wind died down a little after dinner, was glad I could wear my hair down! We had a nice dinner and just laughed about the crazy weather - what can you do?

Michael talked to the real manager at around 11pm on Sunday night and got him to send us a free bottle of vodka because of broken promises about room service and butler service!

Finally a nice day - had fun at the pool and on the beach Monday!

I have wandered all my life, and I have also traveled; the difference between the two being this - that we wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment. Hilaire Belloc

Tuesday was Michael's birthday - fun day at the pool and on wave runners, despite the rain and losing my glasses in a wipe out!

 Happy Birthday to Michael!

A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. Lao Tzu

Thursday, Oct. 20 was our last day, and it was the nicest day for weather - I wish we could have stayed longer, but it was a lot of fun!
