S: Motorcycle to Alaska

BC: Back home after 5600 miles!

FC: BC, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Alaska by Motorcycle

1: July 10, 2010, we started out. Verlin had done this trip two years earlier but graciously agreed to go again after Kermit had to remain home due to a motorcycle accident. And what a trip it turned out to be. 5600 miles in two weeks plus. Not the plan but since it was so cold and rainy much of the time... all we could do was keep riding, sore buns or not!

2: Our second night on the road found us in Nakusp, BC. We only stopped to say "Hello" to Sus and family but they insisted we stay for a big feed they had planned and stay the night. It didn't take us long to make that decision.

4: Keeping a detailed journal each evening.

6: Watson Lake is a great place. We stayed in this remodeled Air Force dorm now owned by a strict German fellow. He would not show us the room until boots were taken off. Kerm was too tired to take his off so Verlin did the honors.

12: A land of Glaciers. We had on all the clothes we took... and were still cold!

13: Let's see, shall we put on our rain gear now, or wait a little longer?

14: Who's on the bottom?

15: Wow, what burgers! this German lady in Tagish, BC made them up for us.

16: We couldn't wait to get to Skagway as we were cold, hungry and about out of fuel. The last 10 miles were down, down, down and when we arrived, there were 5 cruise ships tied up. No place to park, and thousands of people. We headed back up the hill. | Our hotel in Stewart, BC

18: Back home after 5600 miles and sore, sore buns. We even stopped at a Rest Stop near Boise and took a nap before we could make it the last 40 miles home!

19: Then, after a rest of several weeks and getting caught up with farm work, we took a Rhino trip with two friends to Jarbidge Mountain. Our destination was the Altitude Mine at 10,000 feet elevation. We hauled our machines 50 miles and then drove another 25 through the following country.
