S: Costa Rica The Totally Awesome Adventures of Summer, Ralph, and Mom
FC: COSTA RICA 2010-2011 | The Totally Awesome Adventures of Summer, Ralph, and Mom
Our first destination, Manuel Antonio | January 2010 | The host of our little casa made us feel welcome, and cooked a great breakfast for us with banana pancakes. The bananas grew outside of the kitchen window.
Manuel Antonio is one of 27 national parks in Costa Rica. Both the monkeys and the raccoons are expert thieves.
Santa Elana Cloud Forest Reserve | Mighty big crocks in the river near Jaco. There are two seasons in Monte Verde; wet and wetter.
La Fortuna, near Volcano National Park. We had no idea what these critters were.
Tabacon Hot Springs Resort | Warm, refreshing, and beautiful.
Car ferry crossing the peninsula. | The beach at Montezuma | The crossing takes about an hour. The only smooth mode of transportation in the entire country. | The thriving and lively downtown. | January 2010 Ralph and Mom travel across the Nicoa Peninsula to Motazuma.
Our room at The Butterfly Gardens Bed and Breakfast. | Our deck hand on the snorkeling trip to Tortuga Island | No, I never get sunburned... | One of the the tour boats.
We spent the day swimming and having lunch on the island.
This was our house south of La Fortuna. All of the wood was hand carved. There were natural hot springs to soak in at night. The road was so bad that we had to kick the bumper back on the car every time we drove on it. | The toucans were enjoying the fruit. (Actually, there were four cans.)
One of our favorite adventures was the river boat trip at the Cano Negro Reserve. The wildlife was amazing.
MONTE VERDE | CLOUD FOREST RESERVE
 Sloth Sanctuary
 Blue Morpho
 ATV riding through the countryside.
The Ultimate Thrill! | No brian no pain. | Ziplining and repelling through the jungle.
 To infinity, and beyond.
