BC: Breathtaking Scenery


1: Summary of Our Grand Teton - Yellow Stone and Glacier Park Vacation Day - 1- Fly into Jackson hole,WY Airport - Rented SUV - Rented a two bed room Condo in Teton Village Day - 2 - Visited Jenny Lake and took a boat ride and hiked up to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point (Established Shefali Point !!) - Drove up to Signal Point overlooking the snake river and the entire viewpoint of Teton Range (Peak 11,300 ft high) - Drove up to Coulter Bay, had lunch and took a 43 mile scenic drive and went back to Condo Day - 3 - Tool the sky tram up to a mountain peak of 10,300 ft with lots of snow and watched three paragliders take off. Took small ride up in the ropeways and back to condo for packing to go further. Left Teton and drove up North for about three hours to West Yellowstone, stopping by to watch the most popular Faithful Geyser, up to the West exit and drove further west for about 20 miles to out big Log Cabin in Island Park in Idaho. Picked up some delicious pizza from Hungry Bear which we baked at home for Dinner. Day - 4 - Yellow Stone - Drove to the NE section of the park and drove on the Bear tooth highway which is supposed to to be a very scenic drive, but not worth time and driving. Had a lunch at a cute town, Cook City and that was a wonderful experience where we had lunch on the patio looking up the luscious mountains. Drove onto Mammoth Springs in the North side of the park and hiked the trail in to the various springs, well worth the 45 minute hike Returned to IP and had Khichadi, shaak and dahi for dinner, thanks to Vishakha, we had one of the the most delicious dinners. Day -5 -Visited the South East section of the park: Canyon Village, Upper and lower falls.The lower falls required a 1.2mi;e hike - 600 ft low, but worth it. The lower falls are the tallest falls in the park, 308 ft. Drove up to the Upper falls which were just Fantastic and a lot easier to hike to. Viewed the Canyon of the Yellowstone Park from Different viewpoints and each one was spectacular, with bright yellow and red colors. Drove up to Artist Point and got a fantastic view of the canyons and the Lower Falls, highly recommended. Drove south along Yellowstone River and viewed the Mud Volcanoes and Sulfur Springs. Spent sometime on Yellowstone Lake and Enjoyed ice ream at Fisherman Bridge. Day -6- Visited the South West section, Geyser Basin, Started at the Lower Geyser Basin which took about 30 minutes. Then visited the Midway Basin, and were very impresses by the Grand Prismatic Geyser Basin. There is a trial that one can take to view it from about 100 ft.above. The Excelsior Geyser Creator is also recommended. Just south of this is the Firehole Basin and has spectacular bacterial mass in various colors. The Emerald Basin was impressive, then onto the Upper Geyser Basin, where Faithful Geyser is the most popular, It's eruption is most predictable and erupts every 90 minutes and each eruption lasts about 2-3 minuted.reaching a height of approx. 180ft. Took 1.2 mile hike to a few other basins. Morning Glory was absolutely spectacular and is a must. On the way back we watched the Riverside Geyser which has the longest eruption tome, lasting about 20 minutes. The wait this could be a little long for the time predicted has a window of 45 minutes, but it was totally worth the wait. Do not miss having ice cream at Faithful Lodge. Day 7- Left the log cabin at IP, Idaho and drove North towards Glacier Park, Montana. It was approx. 8 hour drive and the lst 100 miles were very scenic especially driving around Flathead Lake. Rented a condo in Columbia Falls in Meadow Lake which was about 15 minuted away from Glacier Park. The first night we drove to Whitefish, a 10 minute drive from Columbia Falls where we had a fantastic dinner at Whitefish Lodge. The restaurant is located in Whitefish Lake and sitting on the outdoor patio was a wonderful experience. We celebrated Harendra's 60th birthday with wine and a dinner. Day - 8- Glacier Park - Spend the whole day driving the scenic drive called Road to the Sun which runs West-East.It is a 3-4 hr drive and some very interesting viewing outlooks. Logan Pass which is about 6,500 ft had a few feet of snow even in end of June and was fun to play in the snow when temperature are in 70s. There are quite a few water falls on the drive. Took a boat drive in Mary Lake singing Hindi Songs and entertaining !! other tourists then hiked to Bering and Mary Waterfalls. Bearing Falls is a 5 minute time while Mary Falls is an hour hike and had out carry out home made pizza for dinner and went to Whitefish and had the most delicious homemade ice cream, Coconut Dream and Orange Cardamom. Day - 9 - Left Columbia Falls to drive back to Yellowstone. Stopped by a lovely Mexican restaurant "Fiesta Angelico" in Polson, MT for lunch which was spectacular and the view was even better sitting on a balcony overlooking Lake Flathead, Drove for the rest of the day and entered Yellowstone Park form North entrance and ended the evening at Canyon Village where we had rented a private cabins. That's stay was just OK. Day -10- Left Canyon Village after delicious breakfast and stopped by at the Grand Prismatic Geyser Basin to get more clear view without the wind blowing stopped by at Vishakha's favorite Faithful Geyser., one more time . had some more delicious ice cream and drove to Jackson Hole WY. Had dinner , double baked well done Pizza at Pizzeria Caldera. We were actually able to sit outside in the balcony overlooking the gorgeous mountains. Walked around Jackson Downtown Jackson Hole and took pictures under the Antler Arches. These are made from thousands antlers that the animal actually shed every year r. Day -11- Had a breakfast at the Bunnnery Bakery which is a must. Adhikari's dropped off the Mehta's at the airport, This moment was the saddest part of the holidays and Adhikari's proceeded to get some more views of Mount Teton . End of Journey
