FC: My Geography BY Jason Zuang | Mr.Johannes 2A
Central Concepts of My Geographical Life | This is an example of scale because this is a smaller version of the world expo. It shows information about the expo, just small enough to be portable. | This is an example of space-time compression, because the car allows you to get from point A to point B faster. This saves you time to travel. | The space in between my feet is a good representation of space because my feet are separated by some degree so there is nothing in between it but space. | My house address is a good representation of absolute location, because it the only thing that represents the longitude and latitude of my house. There will be nothing else on this coordinate.
Spatial Interactions | This Picture is a good example of land survey patterns because it shows how a pattern of the size of each lot. The red lines are the boarder between one lot and another. This would be a Long lot because it is more narrow than wide. | This is a good example of central places because it is a picture of New York city and it is the center of economic exchange, and it is downtown so many people rely on it because it is the center of human activity; | This picture is not a contagious diffusion, but it is a good representation of it. The line starts of with the biggest drum and each drum gets small until the smallest drum and the line ends. This is like how the contagious diffusion works. | This is a representation of Physiologic density. It shows how many people are in an amount of area. There is about 2 people per square foot.
Geographic Tools | This is a map scale. It shows the relationships between the actual length in real life and how it is in ratio on the map. This can help you calculate distance very accurately . | This is a Chloropeth map. It uses colors to show the different states and help show the users the boundaries and the states | This is a Topographic map. It show the elevation my number of layers on the map.People use this to help them navigate through elevated terrains. | Tis is a mental map of Liberty High School that i drew. It is a map of liberty from what i got from my head. It is used by improving our geographic abilities.
Geographic Models | This is an example of concentric zone model. It shows cost to distance relationship in city estate prices. This is used to find information in a specific manner. | This is a picture of a bid-rent curve. It explains why land prices are low and high in different areas relative to the location. | This is a non-spatial model. It uses the data to create a plot graph and it is used to predict or assume the correlation of the data. | This is a spatial model of the outbreak of cholera in 1855. It shows the commonalities in a pattern that helps people learn.
Geographic Technologies | This is a GPS system. It uses satellites to help find where you are. I use it to find my way trough traffic. | . | This is Google Earth. It uses GPS and GIS to see the earth in real-time.I use this to find places across the world. | This is a land-line phone. It uses GIS so when ever I call 911 the people will know where i called from. | This the Internet. It is used all over the world and it has many web pages that uses GIS.
