S: South African Safari - May 2007
FC: South African Safari May 2007 | The Starry's
STARRY SAFARI Our trip to South Africa was an adventure that we'll never forget. It was an adventure for the senses. We had no idea what we would be seeing, tasting, smelling, and doing. Our accommodations were amazing, food was gourmet, and of course there were the wild animals. I hope this book keeps these memories fresh with us for many years to come.
The food was unbelievable. The manager made incredible dishes from all the local available vegetables, fruits and of course freshly hunted meats. | After returning from the morning safari, an armed guard would escort us to the restaurant for breakfast. All the juices were fresh squeezed and the breads home made. In the evening the meals were cooked over a large fire pit.
Our days began before the sun came up. With a knock on our door we were escorted to the safari vehicle. Our guides would stop later and we'd share a hot cup of coffee.
There was often a chill in the morning air, but the thrill of suddenly seeing something beautiful kept us on the edge of our seats.
The nights were cold, but the fire and food were warm and the room was a welcome retreat.
 The Watering Hole
 El Diablo
The guide told me that it would be very difficult to get a good picture of a wild boar because they are so shy. However one morning when | We stopped to listen to a lion roar so that we could tell where he was, aw we all sat in silence this guy, Warty, walks right out from the bushes.
The giraffe were the first of the big five that we managed to see. | They are so beautiful in the wild and move so stealthfully.
 After days of searching
 we finally found the lions.
 Our amazing tracker.
