Teach and Learn in Korea (TaLK) was an unforgettable, life changing experience. At orientation, I met some amazing people from all around the world: Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and England. We struggled through seminars during the day and had fun during the night, it was great.

I taught alongside with talented teachers at Cheong Hae Elementary School in Wando, South Korea, and was given the opportunity teach over a hundred bright Korean students English and American culture. I came to love everyone at the school, even the ‘bad’ ones, hehe.

So what did I do in Korea... | I traveled the small island of Wando and met some great people who made me feel right at home. I had the freshest seafood I’ve ever had in my life in there, I traveled to Daegu and celebrated Valentines Day with a close group of friends...

I celebrated St. Patrick’s day in Mokpo with the Jeollonamdo Crew, I walked across from one island to another at Jindo as the sea parted for the one week of the year, I ate some of the most spicy chicken bbq in Haenam...

I experienced the nightlife and shopped during the day in Gwangju’s Shee Neh, I reunited with relatives I hadn't seen for years in Seoul, I caught up with a friend from the States and made new friends in Hongdae, Seoul, I hiked up the Green Tea Hills in Boseong and drank the most fresh green tea in Korea...

I visited the sex museum, explored through the lava caves, toured the waterfalls, kayaked along the shore, and biked the boardwalk on Jeju Island...

I celebrated one of my best friends’ (Jesse’s) birthday and mine in Gwangju, I went to Busan for the famous Sand Festival and partied until sunrise on the beach shore, I met more relatives in Cheongju, hiked the Cheongju Mountain, and toured the Cheongju University...

I learned some yoga on the roof of a bathroom and walked the beach shore at the Sinji Beach in Wando, my sister visited me and we learned how to throw a pot in Gwangju, I watched Korea’s famous percussion/dance performances, Nanta and Fantastiks, in Seoul...

My sister’s boyfriend, Phil, came to visit and we ate goat meat, road a ferry to a nearby Wando island, visited famous Korean drama sets, went to Seoul’s COEX mall/aquarium, and last but not least, I had a blast at Korea’s theme park, Everland, with my cousin before heading back to the States.

Out of all of my experiences in Korea, I am the most grateful for the truly spectacular people I was able to meet. They showed me that there is still a group of individuals who want to make this world a better place. They showed me that kindness prevails. They showed me that humility is still alive. They showed me that integrity perseveres. And most importantly, they showed me that love wins.
