Ayutthaya First stop after arriving in Bangkok is Ayutthaya, a UNESCO world heritage site. This is an old ancient city left in ruins. We spent 2 days and a night here. Wat Chaya Mongkhol and Wat Mahathat are featured on this page. We got around in tuk tuk's whilst in Ayutthaya.

Wat Ratchaburana, Wat Chaiwatthanaram and Wat Mahathat. We stayed at Luang Chumni Village hotel in Ayutthaya. Pleasant stay and only $25 a night!

 Wat Phra Si Sanphet

Wat Mahathat, Wat Worachetharam and Wat Lokayasutharam

Wat Chaiwatthanaram and St. Joseph's Church

Chiang Mai We then headed off to Chiang Mai via first class overnight train. It was fun and comfy! Once in Chiang Mai we rode in tuk tuk's, and songtaews.

We visited the Chiang Mai zoo as well as the Chiang Mai Night Safari. The zoo was massive!!

We went to Tiger Kingdom where we could pet the tigers, from babies to full grown cats. The kids chose to pet the babies. There was a nice lunch here where we got to eat while watching the big tigers play in the pool.

We took the kids to Elephant Nature Park, a safe haven for elephants. We got to pet, feed and bathe the elephants in the river. The kids had a blast in the river. A fantastic day!!

The elephants are very playful, especially the babies. They also like to show a lot of affection to each other, touching and petting one another.

The elephant below had a broken back and hips. She broke her hips while working in a logging camp so they used her for mating, upon which the bull broke her back. ENP rescued her . | There was also an elephant who was blinded by her previous owner when she refused to work after her baby had died. She was also working in a logging camp when she delivered her baby and it rolled down the hill and died. The sweet blind elephant has a best friend who leads her around everywhere.

Fun in the water even after the elephants have gotten out, LOL. They are such water babies. =)

Doi Inthanon National Park We went on a day trip to Doi Inthanon National Park, visiting a waterfall, a hilltribe village, and the highest point in Thailand. We also visited a small outdoor market.

They had some incredible reliefs at the king and queen pagodas in the park. Some beautiful, some disturbing!

Patong, Phuket We spent just one night here as our gateway to the Similian Islands, but that didn't stop of from hitting up the beach!!

We headed off for our overnight snorkelling trip in the Similian Islands! The water was sooo clear and beautiful and warm. The only thing that hindered it was the stinging of the jellyfish larvae in the water. I got to pet a large turtle as it swam beneath me!

We spent the night in a tent on one of the islands. At dusk, thousands of bats would head out, and at dawn, they came back in, screeching so loud, no one could sleep through it!!

Next we went to Khao Sok National Park where we went hiking, playing in the river, and watching the monkeys. The kids were scared at night of the jungle noises and Hali and Terry woke up to a their bed full of kids, haha.

West Railay, Krabi We spent several days in West Railay and did a couple of day trips. All the kids learned how to swim and LOVED the pool.

We stayed in Railay Village and our rooms were fantastic and huge! The resort had 2 gorgeous swimming pools and sat right in front of the beach.

Phra Nang Beach was a great place to chill out and swim, located an easy 10 min walk away from West Railay. The kids loved the corn on the cob from the vendors!

We went on a fun filled day trip visiting James Bond Island, Phang Nga Bay, , Koh Panyi floating muslim village, some waterfalls, and a monkey cave. Kiera, Tatiana and Hali all went kayaking through the hongs as well, while the boys stayed on a floating dock in the middle of the waters.

Soooo many monkeys!! They were so cute and playful! We were sad to leave Railay and to leave Thailand. Our last night was spent in Bangkok where we went shopping and saw the movie "Avatar" in 3D

This is a vacation none of us will ever forget! =)
