Within the grounds of Pearl Harbor are a number of exhibits, displays, memorials, and museums, honoring not only the 1,177 victims of the Japanese attacks, but all of those who bravely served in World War 11. Built over the wreckage of the USS Arizona, the Memorial is a sobering experience where visitors to Hawaii come to pay their respects. The USS Missouri Battleship and the Pacific Aviation Museum are located on Ford Island, offering unique insights into the war. The USS Bowfin Submarine takes visitors through the narrow corridors of an integral war vessel, that often was submerged for months at a time.

L A H A I N A | Once known as Lele, which means “relentless sun” in Hawaiian, Lahaina is a historic town that has been transformed into a Maui hot spot with a variety of unique shops and restaurants. Once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom in the early nineteenth century, Lahaina was also a historic whaling village during the whaling boom of the mid-1800’s. Up to 1,500 sailors from as many as 400 ships took leave in Lahaina including Herman Melville, who immortalized the era in his classic novel Moby Dick. | day 3...

This large beach is set among lava cliffs and the sand is actually small, smooth, lava pebbles. A small sea arch, sea caves, and seaside lava tubes are located in the beach area. | day 5...

Sometimes it's not about the DESTINATION, but about the JOURNEY itself.

With over 52 miles of roadway, 620 curves and 59 bridges, Hana Highway is one of the most beautiful and distinct roads in the United States. Created to provide access to the numerous sugar cane fields in the growing town of Hana, the road allowed for cars and trucks to travel between Kahului and Hana. A dangerous road, but definitely worth the drive. | ROAD TO HANA

After the freshly baked banana bread, and many pits stops and picture spots, we finally arrive to the south end of Haleakala National Park. After a short and wet hike, we stumble upon O'heo Gulch, one of the most magical natural wonders in the world. This destination is also known as "The Seven Sacred Pools". | O'HEO GULCH

 Sunrise at HALEAKALA

Long before the days of written history when the ancient gods walked the earth and fished the seas, the Demigod Maui was called before his mother, the goddess Hina. The goddess complained that the sun moved across the sky so fast every day that her tapa cloth would not dry. Wanting to please his mother, Maui, who was known for his tricks, devised a plan to solve his mother's problem. Climbing to the summit of the great mountain before dawn, Maui waited for the sun to peek its head above the edge of the horizon. When it did so, Maui took his lasso and lassoed the sun, stopping its path across the sky. The sun begged Maui to let it go and proceed in its path across the sky. Maui agreed on one condition. The sun must agree to slow its path across the sky and allow more time for light during the day. The sun agreed. | day 6...
