FC: Happy 50th Birthday Yvonne Marie

From the People who Love you. | Daughter - Sister - Aunt - Wife - Mother - Friend - Doctor

 Family History

but much more in what she leaves her descendants. | The measure of a woman is not only found in what she gets from her ancestors...

Yvonne Marie Swenda Born December 12, 1960 | Daughter

 Yvonne Senger

If you have one smile, give it to the people you love.

Our roots say we're sisters; our hearts say we're friends...

Sister | Sisters are like different flowers from the same garden

Ode to my sister . . . . My friend. My co-conspirator. My sanity Thank you for sharing your life with me. My favorite memories: Florida Walt Disney World Our very first family vacation. You in the bathroom.. Me on the floor outside the door... being a big sister. LOL! Love always, Janet | "To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family grief and joys. We live outside the touch of time.." - Clara Ortega | Dear Yvonne, You are the keeper of many of my childhood memories. While there are so many gaps in the early years, I know the blessing of adult memories shared. Thank you for being the wedding and vacation planner, the mediator, editor, the personal and family therapist, and most of all, my beautiful baby Sister. It seems like only yesterday that we celebrated your 40th, coming together for dinner at that converted train station. Now, the big “50.” I wish you joy, peace and lots of love. Love, Sharon

 (1) Don't believe a word Oprah says, ,turning 50 sucks! What do you expect when you are a half a century old? (2) Yesterday you were going uphill, now you are going down. (3) You now qualify for AARP and you can get lots of discounts! (4) I found this list of "good" things about turning 50, and since I have already turned 50 some time ago, I would like to offer my comments on them: You're less fearful. No you're not... you're more fearful that you will fall & not be able to get up! You're not afraid to have opinions. Yes you are! You're afraid everyone will think you're batty! You know yourself. NOOOO... not if you were born into a dysfunctional family as most of us were! You have a greater appreciation for life. NO! You have a greater appreciation for your body parts that still work. It's easier to laugh at yourself. It is NEVER easy to laugh at yourself, especially if everyone is laughing too... you actually become more sensitive. It's easier to laugh at others. NO! Everyone will think you turned into a mean old woman! | It's easier to take life less seriously. Only if you have lots of money, which I rate up there with oxygen! You stop sweating the small stuff. Just so you know, you don't stop sweating after menopause. You have a lifetime of wisdom to help you make decisions. If only you could remember it! You're more at peace. Hell no! You can't even get a good night's sleep! You're less critical of your body & weight. Alas, women NEVER stop being critical of these topics. Only on your death bed! You have a reason for forgetting things. You don't even know what you're forgetting! You know that eating right & exercise are the best medicine. This is the time in your life when you finally realize that what really is the best medicine is a big piece of chocolate cake & some type of alcohol. With kids out of the house, you can be more spontaneous! Too bad your libido left with the kids. You can be as grumpy as you wish. And soon, you will no longer have visitors or phone calls. | Your kids stop expecting big gifts from you. No they don't... they always expect more and think you should spend your savings on them since you can't take it with you. Buying more comfortable clothes. Polyester! Your wisdom. No one really cares... everyone else always thinks they know it all! So as you turn 50, I would like you to know how proud I am of you. Thanks for all the free and private phone psychotherapy sessions. I really am in awe of what you have accomplished. I know I would not have been able to do it. We always end up laughing when we talk (i.e. ball scratcher). And I truly know that you love and care about me... the most important thing of all. May the next half century be a happy and healthy journey! Love always, Deb | To Yvonne, On Turning 50

There are angels walking on this earth disguised as aunts! | AUNT YVONNE

"Only an aunt can give hugs like a mother, can keep secrets like a sister, and share love like a friend.”

Aunt Yvonne, I'd like to wish you a happy 50th birthday! It was difficult for me when I turned 30 and therefore can't imagine how you're coping with this milestone. In all seriousness, I know you don't feel a half century old and that is what counts. I hope you enjoy Keri's gift and wish I could be there to properly celebrate. You're an awesome Aunt and I love you very much. Love, Jeff Rosa Jr | AUNT | Over the years we’ve shared many moments: We’ve celebrated weddings, birthdays, and graduations. We’ve shopped until we dropped. We’ve laughed together, and we’ve cried together. And, you’ve: Helped me with school projects; Provided relationship advice; and Shown you care in so many ways. Thank you so much for always being there for me! I am so blessed to have you as MY AUNT, and to get to share so many of life’s experiences with you. Happy Birthday! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Katherine Fitz-Patrick | Happy birthday Aunt Yvonne! You are such an amazing woman & I've always looked up to you. I loved anytime I was around you as a kid, including coming to your house for vacation in the summer. I've loved talking to you as an adult & you still always have an overwhelming positive presence. I Love you & hope your day is as special as you are to me!! Love, Allison Swenda | Dear Aunt Yvonne, Happy Happy Birthday! I wish we could be there to celebrate with you! I have such happy memories from my early childhood of all the family get-togethers in PA. Through my memories, and my funny early photos I took and still have, your beautiful, big, bright smile is always there. I especially treasure the weekends I came and stayed with you and babysat Keri after my family moved back to PA when I was in my early teens. They were always comforting and fun weekends and I am thankful for the warm and happy memories I have of sharing that time with you and of course baby Keri. With lots of love from Uganda! Annie Swenda Gunton

Aunt Yvonne, I have so many memories from over the years that include you and your crazy ways! One specific event that I will never forget is when you took me skiing. I think I was about 12 years old and we were at Camelback night skiing. I had not been skiing in years and you told my mom that you would be happy to teach me. Next thing I know we are on a black diamond and you briefly told me what to do. You said that all I had to do was point my skis straight and zig zag. I was scared out of my mind! It was really icy that night and you went ahead of me. I followed you down, and I'm not sure how, but I made it down without falling! I was so excited and couldn't wait to go down again and again with you. To this day, I think back and just laugh because you had no fear and just threw me on that black diamond and somehow knew everything would be okay! Thank you for all that you have done for me! You are not only a wonderful aunt, but a wonderful, funny, caring, loving person, who I am lucky enough to have as a part of my life! Happy 50th Birthday Aunt Yvonne! Love, Jenna Rosa | Happy Birthday Aunt Y-a-vomit! You've always been able to put a smile on our faces at every occasion we have spent together :) In all of the family videos that we own there seems to be a bit where you're cracking jokes to keep everyone in good spirits! A particular one comes to mind: We are all at a family reunion, all the grand children were very young, Annie was about 16, you're rocking the total 80's hairdo, a mouth full of food, and decide to ask the camera "Want seafood?" From there you stuck your tongue out and started to laugh hysterically :) Such a joker! Alex always seems to bring up when he was 11 or so and you nicknamed him "BIG AL," which we all find hilarious to this day! Thanks for being so understanding and caring for our hectic family through all of the years :) We all hope you have an amazing 50th birthday filled with LOVE, HAPPINESS, and HUMOR!!! Love, Alex, Erica, and Erin Swenda

Jeffrey William Foster Born December 30, 1989 | Keri Marie Foster Born April 6, 1985

A mother is the truest friend you could ever have...

 ...her love is selfless

 You are my sunshine

I love you, Keri | You are so loved, Mom! It did not take me long in life to realize that my mother would be my greatest blessing, my biggest ali, my most loyal friend, my most trusted companion, and my deepest source of inspiration. In the past few years, as I've entered into adulthood and spread my wings, a quiet realization of all the sacrifices you have made in order to be my mother, to love me unconditionally and fully and to your greatest ability, has swept over me. | With that has come an endless source of gratitude, awe, and hope... hope that I too may be able to offer my own (God-willing) children the kind of spirited, playful, consistent, and unconditional love you have offered me. I have memories of us feeding ducks at Willow Valley, making friends with the little guy with one leg, letting him know that we loved him just the same as the others (and maybe a little more). You taught me to look out for the underdog, find value in him, celebrate him, and watch him grow. I've carried this lesson in life and love with me since I was a little girl. Since then, I've watched you find and celebrate the strengths in every person you meet. I've watched you offer them love and encouragement - at times, believing in them so assuredly even when they did not believe in themselves. You have a beautiful soul - one you so unselfishly share with the world. As your daughter, I cannot even put into words the amount of joy and pride I feel in saying that you are my mother. As your child, the love you have offered to other people has been given exponentially to me. Thank you for all the ways you have celebrated my strengths, found the positives in my weaknesses, and inspired me to be a better person. You released your daughter out into the world well prepared to love, to live, and to be joyful. I know how blessed I am to call you 'Mom' - I know how blessed I am to have such beautiful relationships in my life. Thank you for how hard you've worked to fight for me, to support me, to offer me a once-in-a-lifetime-education, and to love me so well. I feel so grateful to have gotten to spend half of your lifetime with you. Happy 50th birthday Mom. Here's to 50 more. | "Tiny Angel rest your wings, sit with me for awhile. How I long to hold your hand and see your tender smile. Tiny Angel can you tell me why you have gone away? You weren't here for very long, why is it, you couldn't stay? Tiny Angel shook her head, "These things I do not know.... But I do know that you love me & that I love you so."

For me, you have given me so many gifts in my 20 years. You have protected, guided and loved me. You created the young man I am today, someone I hope you can be proud of. You taught me to love, care, provide and laugh; to work hard physically, intellectually and emotionally... taking time to relax in between. The life and gifts you have blessed me with is something that can’t be expressed in words, something I am so appreciative of and lucky to have. It’s something I hope to be able to give to my children someday. (If not they will have a kick ass grandmother that will). The mother-son relationship we share is something I will cherish for the rest of my life and is something I feel so lucky to have. I find honor and gratification when I see myself in the things you say and do, that maybe I can be half the parent, friend and person you are. (Only the good, no blonde moments that you have also given me) For | those lucky enough to know you, especially your children, you have been a great inspiration and example of what we should strive to be in life. I’m so proud to be able to call someone who has accomplished so much and who is such an amazing person my mom. Happy 50th birthday! I love you! Your son, Jeffrey | Mom: While everyone in this book has shared different experience with you, it is in agreement that at some point in the past 50 years you have had a significant impact in their lives they greatly appreciated. Your profession is just an extension of what you have been doing your entire life. Your presence in loved ones lives’ carries them to a better place. The love, care, fun and smiles that you give to so many has made you an amazing wife, friend, sister and daughter but only few have been lucky enough to have such a wonderful person to call mom.

Love, Justin | Happy Birthday Ronnie! It is so wonderful to have you in my life. You mean so much to me and I am so lucky to have someone who cares as much for me as you do. Since we met you have always had my best interest at heart and have helped me through some rough times or just listened to what I had to say. .. | I really enjoy our family we have and especially how hard you work for us all to enjoy our time together and for the wonderful vacations we have taken over the years. It is amazing to me how hard you actually do work, with working up at the school so I can go to school for free as well as working at your private practice on nights and on the weekends, it takes such a dedicated person. I am so thankful for all you have and are giving me, especially my education. I am going to a great school where I have made lots of friends and have had so many wonderful times. It is nice to know you are on that campus as well and will always have my back in anything I do. Helping me with papers, choosing classes, helping me study for psychology or sociology, or just letting me vent over professors that have driven me crazy - these are just some of the little things that you do which really mean a lot. It seemed like from the beginning of my college career you believed in me more than I did. I honestly was almost going to give up when I came home from Penn College. But you drove me to succeed and to be a better student, you believed in me and I can honestly say it made me believe in myself. I am so grateful for everything you have done for me and I look forward to our families lives together in the future because it can only get better. I look forward to the day when you can hand me my diploma because I would not want to accept it from anyone but you! I love you very much! Happy Birthday! 50 Years Young!

Happy Birthday Ronnie! This is just one very memorable moment of Ronnie that we revisit daily every time we walk out to our beautiful remodeled Lanai. She is relaxing after three hard working days of supervising Mike and Justin! LOL! | What an inspiration she has been on how to live life to the fullest and what a blessing she has been since she became a very important member of our family! | With all our love, Your Florida Mom and Dad

Ronnie: Well, in a selfish kind of way, my favorite story of you has to do with your husband and my older brother Mike. My best memory of you will always be how you lovingly helped Mike pull himself up by his bootstraps after he had almost hit rock bottom. Not only to help him see what a wonderful person he truly is, but to also realize that he deserved much better things and people in his life than he was willing to consider. Most of us thought that there was not a chance-in-hell that Mike would ever get there without a literal army of very strong men with more stubbornness than the Vonderheide brothers tend to have inherited; basically forcing his hands. From a distance we heard some good stories that Mike was beginning to heal, but again from a distance it was hard to imagine success simply knowing some woman named Yvonne! Well, as the time passed and the stories grew more positive and inspiring, we began to think that there was indeed a chance and low and behold, not only a chance AND guess what?? A bonus! Not only did Mike learn again to realize he deserves the best that this life has to offer, but that he also realize how nice it would be to share those gifts with his family: and how about an absolutely wonderful sister-in-law to start and an incredibly strong addition to our family in a myriad of ways. I thank you for that and I hope you have a wonderful 50th Birthday with many, many more to come. I love you, Jeff | The "Chinese" Hickels would like to wish you a wonderful 50th birthday and 50 more! We would also like to thank you for changing Mike's life. Before you entered into his life he seemed lost. Your kindness, sincerity, beauty and genuine love made him and all of us "Vonderheide Clan" better just by knowing you. | We love you, Amy, John, A.J. and Johnny | Happy 50th, Ronnie! I speak for us all when I say we are VERY blessed to have you in our family! I hope you have a fantastic birthday as well as many more happy, healthy years of being the great individual we all know you to be. Thanks for everything you have done over the years, including (but not limited to) providing such great entertainment! From South Carolina to Florida, it's safe to say we always have fun! Hope to see you soon! Sam | When I think about Ronnie... Well, the first thing that comes to mind is her BIG HEART. She has a warmth about her, a caring that is reflected in her children, and the children she helps on a daily basis. I also love her laugh, just hearing it puts a smile on my face! The way she loves her husband, how blessed he is! Her ability to be so organized (I think God gave her my portion!) The fact that she is ONE day older than I, teeheee heehhehahhaahaahah na na na naaa na! Ronnie loves life and all its adventure, and boy does she have a lot of living still to do... | Love, Missy

 Family Adventures

It's always better when we're together...

At sea I learned how little a person needs, not how much...

Home Away from Home | As the ocean is never full of water, so is the heart never full of love . . .

“Behind every successful man is a proud wife and a surprised mother-in-law.” Hubert H. Humphrey Hey there :) I saw this quote (I know it is in future tense) and it made me chuckle thinking of you for a couple of reasons. First, because of how much I believe it. Second, because of how little I know you will. The first thing that came to mind when Keri mentioned contributing a little note to your book was how endless your capacity for believing in people always proves to be. I first noticed it in the way you embraced a man who has meant very much to me my whole life and his son who continues that relationship. I have seen it in the way you have embraced so many other younger members of my family who I care about in ways I can’t really describe. I see it in your daughter, who no matter how insecure she likes to seem sometimes, always attacks a challenge and inevitably kicks the crap out of it. I haven’t seen it in your professional arena, but feel fairly certain it is the reason you excel at it in a wide range of formats. I saw it in the way you treated me when you had every reason on earth and a golden opportunity to rip right into me. I’m not sure there is a greater gift one can give another than belief. I benefit from that kind of love every day and know that it is something learned. So thanks for all of the belief you have had in those I care about so much and in those I will never meet. They still live on the same planet I do. Happy 50th birthday Ronnie, I can’t imagine anyone deserving it more. I look forward to sharing it with you and many memories after. With so much love and gratitude I will leave you with one more quote (I am a history teacher you know). “I told my mother-in-law that my house was her house, and she said, 'Get the hell off my property.” Joan Rivers Loves and Birthday Wishes, Mitch | PS: I just read Keri’s note and I swear I did not copy her sentiments. This was all mine, written by me by myself. IN FACT I AM FAIRLY CERTAIN I SAW HER LOOKING MY WAY AS I TYPED!

so thankful to be able to have that relationship with you. And after spending hours every day working to improve the lives of others, you somehow still find the energy to come home and do the same for your family, its amazing. I know that whenever I need advice you are always there with helpful and comforting words. You are always willing to go out of your way to help keep everyone around you, happily. You are an incredible person and I have so much respect for you and everything you do. You are such a strong, hardworking and beautiful woman, both inside and out. I, along with many others whose lives you’ve touched, look up to you and idolize you. You have a special ability to put a smile on anyone’s face no matter what the situation. I still remember when you and Mike came to my mom’s 50th birthday party; even though everyone else was just sitting around not participating in any games, you were the first one up and ready to have fun. You can’t imagine how much that meant to my family and me. I have learned so much from you throughout the years not only from what you’ve purposely taught me, but through just watching you. You work so hard with everything you do, but you never forget that life is supposed to be fun. You taught me that sometimes we need to stop putting everyone else in front of our needs and focus on ourselves. That is something that I will remember throughout my life, and hopefully, especially on your birthday, you will do the same! There is nothing I can say to thank you enough for everything you do, but I hope you know how much it really does mean to me. Thank you for always being there and caring for me and everyone around you. You are truly an incredible person. | I cannot even begin to explain to you how lucky I feel to have someone as special as you in my life. You have had such an impact on my life over the past five years. You have always been there to listen to me and talk about anything and everything. Although it usually takes some time for me to open up to people, you are someone who I feel that I can talk to about anything. I am | I love you so much! Happy 50th Birthday! Love, Celsy

Soul-mates are people who bring out the best in you. They are not perfect but are always perfect for you.

Love, Kathy | Happy 50th birthday, my dear Yvonne. Hard to believe you (and soon to be me) are entering that decade. You have achieved so much in your life: professionally- your education, career and reputation; and personally- three successful and caring young adult children, a fun and loving husband, and the surroundings in which to enjoy it all. Thank you for being a true and loving friend over the 38 years we have known one another. It’s like we have a sixth sense when it comes to one another. Somehow you always know when to reach out, whether in times of joy or anxiety or despair. You are always there just at the point when I need you, my oldest, dearest, and best-est friend. Just by talking with you, I feel calmed, centered, buoyed, validated, celebrated, and loved. And, even if we haven’t spoken for weeks or months, it’s like we had simply paused for a moment and were then resuming our conversation. I think they coined the term BFF when they looked at us. I wish for you much joy, love and ongoing success in the adventures that await you. I look forward to the next 38+ years of being a BFF with you.

Happy 50th Yvonne! And here's to 50 more! When I go back and think of the people that have influenced my life and touched me - changed the way I thought about myself (all for the better)- you are absolutely at the top of the list. You have always put others first and made them feel good about themselves. You have such a bright personality and compassionate soul. I count it a blessing to be called your friend and hope we remain friends for your next 50 years! I feel like there should be more to say but I'll stop here and wish you the happiest of birthdays, good health & good friends. | Love, JoAnne Freidly | Having children has been a blessing in more ways that one as it has also opened up a world of true and lasting friendships that I would have otherwise never known. One of which is with my most treasured friend, Yvonne. When you are down or irritated about something Yvonne has the ability to make it all seem better with her soothing, gentleness and objectivity. Yvonne is the most trusted and loyal friend you will ever know. Make no mistake, she can be the most fun person in the world and have you laughing until your sides hurt. Funny thing though, when looking for photos it was difficult to find one of Yvonne in spite of the fact that we spent hundreds of hours together. All the photos were of our daughters and their soccer friends. Yvonne's children were and always will be the center of her universe. The attached photo is of us at the beach ten years ago. Keri was our guest the first week, and the Foster's guest the second week. As Keri and Lindsey could never tire of each other's company, neither could Yvonne and I. We always manage to find something to talk about. I will always be forever grateful that I got to know Yvonne and look forward to many more years of making memories. Happy Birthday and many more to come, my friend! | With Love, Lisa Gillogly

I still remember the day when we formally met Yvonne. We were leaving an ice hockey game that the boys had been playing in at Regency Ice Rink. As we passed Yvonne and Mike outside, I asked Keith if he thought that was Jeffrey’s mom. We decided to go over and introduce ourselves and the rest is as they say history. We were barely acquainted when we (including all three boys) went to Vermont over New Year’s holiday to ski. Beside the fact that Keith and I were new to skiing, this would be quite a test staying with a family we barely knew. We had such an amazing time; Yvonne was so accommodating and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. Anyone that knows us knows that is quite a chore! We all became fast friends from there. We have spent many memorable times together. We have gone boating to Annapolis, Baltimore Inner Harbor, Raystown Lake and all around the Chesapeake Bay. We have gone to numerous plays at the Fulton Opera House (dragging Mike along!). We attended 1st Friday in downtown Lancaster (again dragging Mike along!). We have golfed, again note Yvonne’s patienceI’m a newer golfer! We have eaten many meals together at restaurants as well as home; from Yvonne’s famous Macaroni and Cheese to Mike’s famous Cincinnati Chili. We went to the beach in Ocean City for a long weekend. Their boat was docked right outside the door, which is a great way to spend time at the beach. One of the days, the guys all went out on a fishing boat. On their way into shore, they told us to fire up the grill they had caught our dinner. We used way too much charcoal and never removed the lid from underneath the grill so after we had eaten the most delicious fish we ever had, threw away the whole grill because it was destroyed. I think that is the last time either of us was in charge of grilling! We have celebrated many birthdays, graduations and holidays together. Our most recent vacation was at their beautiful Florida home. We had so much fun at the beach, boating, eating, walking through the neighborhood, shopping at Yvonne’s favorite shops, going to Cabbage Key and the artsy Pine Island. Yvonne is quite the tour guide! Yvonne is talented on so many levels. She has become such a success professionally. We were so excited for her when she received her Doctorate degree. What an accomplishment! On a personal level, she has raised wonderful children, and you can see through them, what a great mother she is. Of course you can see how Mike just adores her and is so proud to be her husband. Yvonne is always full of great advice, compassion and such a positive person. We cherish all the time we spend with her and will spend with her. When Keith and I celebrated our 50th birthday, Yvonne and Mike were right there to help us with our party. 69: that maybe I would go to college and that maybe I was smart enough to academically succeed. After that, I remembering having no idea where to start in the college application process and could not even figure out the difference between being an "undergraduate" and "graduate" student when researching college websites! Nobody in my family had gone to college and the lingo was foreign to me. I don't remember too much about the process but I remember you helping me through all the hoops of financial aid such as the dreaded FAFSA form. Somehow what seemed impossible to me at the time became a reality. I had enrolled in college. With the benefits of college also came the need to have a job - I started out as a tutor at the writing center for the college and then was offered (what I thought) was a promotion as an assistant for the writing center. However, the job became a nightmare. I wanted to quit but was intimidated by the director. I also knew I needed the money. I came in your office crying and in distress. You advised me to quit that crazy job and go to work for the disability office. I took that wonderful advice! That job opened up opportunities and an interest in my future career choice as a school psychologist. I will forever be thankful for the opportunity to learn from one of the best and brightest psychologists I know. One of your best qualities is that you are always looking out for others. You are constantly helping students with disabilities, coworkers, family members, and other people like me. This quality was demonstrated when you helped to connect me to a student who had Aspergers that was going abroad to New Zealand, as was I. You helped us both. Throughout my college years at LVC I knew I could always count on you for advice regarding anything. I always valued you opinion (and still do) on love, life, and academics. No problem seemed as big after I ran it by you. You empowered me to accomplish anything. I never thought that I would be able to graduate college but I did. I did not ever think I would graduate from graduate school but I did. You helped me through the extensive application process (again) with a solid recommendation and an offer to edit my goal statement. Again, after I graduated from graduate school, you supported me with a solid recommendation letter that would help me to land my first job as a school psychologist. I could not have asked for a better mentor than you (and I didn't even have to ask). I will always think of you as my mentor and also as one of the most giving human beings I know. With all of this said. I hope you can see how you have impacted my life for the better and for that I would like to say thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you dearly and I hope you know how much you are loved. Thank you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. | Happy Birthday Yvonne! I cannot express how much you have meant to me over the past 7 +years! My life since high school has been quite a journey and I owe so much of my success to you! I don't think you realize how much your encouragement and mentoring has impacted my life course for the better. You came into my life during high school. Little did I know then how much your presence in my life would mean. I remember being a junior at Penn Manor High School and not knowing if I should go to college or not. I remember that you and Keri both seemed baffled as to why I wouldn't go to college. You encouraged me and I started to think | Love, Angela Esh

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
