What To Include in Your Class Reunion Photo Book

What To Include in Your Class Reunion Photo Book

Your class reunion is a time for connecting, celebrating, and showing how much you’ve changed since graduation. It’s also a time to break out those old yearbooks and update them with new information, faces, and notes from those who played a foundational role in your life.

Here are seven ways to capture the memories of your class reunion and record the changes in people’s lives through a commemorative class reunion photo book.

1. Pictures

Your pictures will make up the heart of your book. Scan old pictures (time to pull out those awkward yearbook pictures) and incorporate current snapshots. For example, you can include photographs from the event and your classmates’ private lives.

Consider adding dedicated pages to events during your reunions, like a page covering the food and another for each activity. That way the album follows a story.

Don’t forget to add some humorous or sentimental captions that make the album entertaining. Additionally, include names with each picture since most attendees look different than they did in high school or college.

2. Then and Now Sections

Then and now sections are some of the most entertaining parts of a reunion photo book. It’s a time to compare your classmates’ appearance during school to how they look now. It also recognizes accomplishments and noteworthy changes.

Most original yearbooks include a “most likely to” section. You can bring that back to light by comparing those students to where they are now.

For example, you can find out if Suzy, who was most likely to become famous, really did live the celebrity life or if John, who was most likely to become president, is on a political path after all.

3. Special Notes

Mix your pictures with special letters, poems, and notes from classmates and teachers. For instance, if you had a favorite professor, he might write a message to his classmates praising them for their accomplishments and motivating them in their life in the future.

Your special notes should also include a thanks to the organizers of the event for investing time and energy into making a memorable occasion. You can also include a shoutout to volunteers, caterers, sponsors, the DJ, the photographer, and anyone else contributing to the event.

4. Scripts

During the class reunion, there will be several speeches and songs. Why not save those memories by publishing the text in your class reunion photo book to look back on?

You can add more quirky humor to this section by opening the floor at your event for the attendees to give impromptu speeches. Then, record those speeches to save in your reunion book to relive the laughter (and awkward pauses).

You can also pull out old scripts from your school days, like graduation speeches, to fill in spaces in between your pictures.

5. Memories

Give your attendees a chance to submit memories, stories, and special notes for the photo book. These can be memories of their time in school with their classmates, or notes about how their experiences impacted their life.

You can also ask for stories from the event. If you had contests, you could recognize winners in this space.

6. Photos of the Event

Reunions are packed with all types of exciting events. Some activities that reunions might include are:

  • Hat contests

  • Scavenger hunts

  • Dances

  • Restaurants

  • Karaoke

Be sure you hire a photographer to capture these events, then share them with the attendees in your photo book.

7. In Memoriam

A memorial page is a time to honor the classmates that passed away since graduation. You can ensure they are still part of the reunion by posting their pictures, accomplishments, and notes about the students that honor their lives.

You might consider asking someone close to the classmate to write a eulogy for the book that commemorates their full life and impact on those around them.
