2: Elements Definition: an element is a pure substance that cannot be separated into something new; it's simplest form of a substance. If you want to test an element you have to test its chemical and physical properties.

3: Elements can be classified as a metal, non-metal or a metalloid. On this earth an element has a special number of protons. There is 92 natural element i this world but their are 20 man-made elements An example of an element is iron sodium chloride. Another example is iron.

4: Compounds Definition: a pure substance composed of two or more elements that are chemically combined. To make a compound go back to their elements they have to go through a chemical change. Composition of elements in fixed ratios .

5: An example of a compound is water. Another example is table salt, sugar, carbon dioxide, and baking soda.

6: Mixtures Definition: combination of two or more substances that are physically combined. The identity of a mixture does not change. Solution is a well mixed mixture particles are small and dissolved. A heterogeneous mixture is a
