15: Once upon a time we kinda got in trouble with "Sister Duncan." We were sitting in the hot tub until pretty late when we came up with the idea to float down the river on an air mattress during the night. We talked about it and planned for it. The day Brogan moved to Logan we bought an air mattress for twenty dollars at the D.I. Saturday night we told our parents we weren't coming home until the next morning and President and Sister Darrington were out of town...very convenient. On our way home we sent Eric into Jakes to buy a disposable camera just to be sure we wouldn't be seen. We then went to Brog's house and began our adventure. We blew up the air mattress and of course it would have a hole in it (Brog still wants a refund.) Our enginuity began with duct tape to patch up the little hole. We had a smaller mattress to put underneath so we took them both outside so the air could shrink them and we could fill them up again. Backing up... before we took them outside Brog decided to put chairs on the smaller one to see if it would lose any air. He grabbed like four chairs (actually just two, but four sounds better) and said it was me. He then grabbed one chair to represent him. It was unintentional, but still rude. Then we got on the other mattress and Brogan laid on my chest and I said is this getting flatter and Brog said I think so. I told him I didn't think it was so then he moved his head onto the mattress and said oh maybe you're right it's not. HOW RUDE!!! Once we took them outside, we watched a movie until take off. We packed our little sealable white trash bucket which we tied a string (that we stole off a yo-yo) to the duct tape that we had wrapped around the two mattresses to hold them together.
16: We got our pillow and blankets and headed out the door. The first item of business was getting our little floatation device into the water and getting on without tipping over. We just slid the mattresses in and I got on then Brogan jumped on while simultaneously pushing us away from the dock. It was a tad bit windy which was fine except that it was blowing the wrong direction. Therefore, rather than going downstream, we were going upstream... sort of. Our bucket wanted to go one way and the wind was blowing us the other. For the first fifteen minutes we hardly even moved. We started moving a little more, and it was pretty comfy so I was pretty much asleep and Brog was dozing when he suddenly decided we had better take a picture. The light was so bright it blinded our eyes. Just as I was getting all relaxed again, I realized we were about to run into a dock. I grabbed the pole thing and tried to push us around, but the wind was too strong so Brog had to get out and push us to the other side. There was a rather large fish on the dock and when Brog picked it up, I thought he was going to throw it a me so I let out a little scream. We made it around the dock and he jumped back on then there was a concrete wall we were running into, and there was a big stick in the way. I grabbed the stick trying to get around it and Brog was laying across my legs trying to push off the wall Then a dog started barking, and it sounded really close, so that scared us a little. We finally conquered that disaster. And we made it past the wall without getting sprayed by the sprinkler which was a valid concern.
17: After the wall, there was a bunch of cat tails so we're hitting those and going in circles. Then the wind blew the corner of one of the blankets and it hit me, and I honestly thought a fish had landed on me so I kinda freaked out a little. Then we got talking and Brog said we should get a group together to do it again and form (in a hick accent) the Redneck Yacht Club. We continued talking and then talking led to a little something else... no need to say more. As we were kissing we kinda ended up more towards one side of the mattress, and somehow we had scooted a little too much towards the top. All of a sudden Brog looked up and saw the mattress beginning to tip. I hurried to get back to my side, but it was too late. The mattress flipped over backward and we ended up in the water. I came up and before mentioning that it was cold or anything, my first words were Let's go home call Shane! Our pillow started floating away so we grabbed that and we had to get the blankets on our raft. They soaked up a ton of water and they were way heavy. For one of them i had to hold down the mattress while Brog got the blanket on. He took all the important stuff up the steep bank we were stuck by. Then he informed me we were in the middle of a field. He took the blankets up while i held the mattress. Then we had to drag the mattress up with our lovely bucket dragging behind because eagle scout Brogan couldn't untie his own knot. We grabbed the blankets and other important stuff and started our trek through the field. It was freezing and the leaves were cutting Brog's legs. I was wearing sweats and by the time we made it back they were about down to my knees. We took off what we could while still remaining decent and jumped in the hot tub. The water stung because we were so cold, but it felt good after a little while. We ended up right back where the whole idea began.
