Mary Alice is worried about her Grandma. She is well known for shaking up her neighbors and tricking peoples minds. She loves to cook too. She cooked all night for just one holiday party.
In the book, Grandma Dowdel takes Pecans from an old mans house, because he said that she could take as many pecans as she wanted as long as they are on the ground." So she took as many pecans as she could get, then she drove his tractor into the tree to make all the pecans fall, while he was sleeping.
Mary Alice is also having some trouble in this book. There is a mean girl in her new school who embarrasses her and makes her mad and also gets her in trouble. Mary Alice's friend, Ina-Rae helps her around the school and introduces her to everybody.

Grandma Dowdel jumped out of her bed and ran out in her robe and grabbed her gun. They all walked upstairs and saw Maxine Patch with a big snake on her. The snake was all she wore. She had no clothes on except for a rose in her hair.
Mary Alice thought Royce would never talk to her again because of what happened. But then at school he kept smiling at her and he talked to her a lot, at the end of the year school party. When she got home she told her grandma she didn't want to go back to Chicago, but her Grandma insisted she did. So she went back home to see her family.
