FC: A Yellow Raft in Blue Water | Michael Dorris

Michael Dorris is the author of two books dealing with Native American studies. Michael works in the department of Native American studies at Dartmouth college. He lives on a quaint farm in New Hampshire with his wife and children. | What a beautiful view! | Michael presents himself as a native American and he supports causes for reservations and native American history.

One book that I read A while ago reminded me of a yellow raft in blue water, called Bless the Beasts and the Children. This book had the same setting as a yellow raft in Blue water. The setting was in the open range of Montana. In both books I got a sense that IU was very much in th mountains of the Midwest. | Connections to my book

In my book the main character,Rayona depends on her family for so much, but lately they have let her down. she knows she will never have a perfect family and she must take them for what they are. Sometimes I feel This way, but I know my family is doing what is best for me.

The main character in my book is Rayona. Rayona is a half black, half native American girl who lives in Seattle, Washington. Rayona is very self conscious of her appearance and thinks every one is judging her. In her family she feels unwanted and unloved.

 Seattle, Washington

A Yellow raft in BLue Water is set on a reservation in Montana. They are mountains that surround the reservation and it is near a park which attracts visitors. Another part of the book is set in Seattle. Rayona lives here, but she is visiting her grandmother in Montana

How to Read like a Professor | In my book there is one scene which rayona sees a gas station attendant she feels like she has seen before. In our professor packet they talk of literature that you might have stumbled upon before and how to spot out the way stories grow.

A Yellow raft in Blue Water was a challenging and interesting book that kept my attention through the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes stories were you can feel the setting and enjoy the book because of that. It is definitely a college bound book that can twist anyone's brain.
