FC: Andrew Jackson By: Chesne Kaufman
1: Andrew Jackson was born March 15th, 1767 in either North or South Carolina and was raised by his mother.
2: With Jackson's father dead, Jackson's mother died of Cholera when Jackson was only 14 and lost both of his brothers war, so Jackson was raised by his two uncles.
3: Jackson got a good education from private tutors and decided to become a lawyer and did become one in 1787.
4: After becoming a lawyer, Jackson met a beautiful woman who was recently divorced and fell in love with her. Rachel Donelson Robards and Andrew Jackson married in 1794.
5: Jackson prospered to buy slaves and build a mansion (the Hermitage), then became the first man from Tennessee to be elected to the House of Representatives.
6: Jackson was a general in the War of 1812 and became a national hero when he defeated the British in New Orleans.
7: In 1828, Jackson ran for president as John C. Calhoun as his vice president and became the 7th president of the United States with 54% of the popular vote and 178 out of 261 votes.
8: Jackson ran again after his 1st term as President was over. He was elected again in 1832 with Martin Van Buren as his Vice President who took over when he retired from his presidency in 1837.
9: Jackson returned home to Nashville, TN back to the Hermitage and died June 8th, 1845. He was remembered significantly by being put on the 20 dollar bill.
