FC: History of the Anglo-Saxons

1: The History of the Anglo-Saxons Created by Shannon Connor

2: Before the Anglo-Saxons there where three different groups the Anglo, Saxons, and Jutes who had came from Denmark and settled in Britain.

3: The Saxons lived in the Southern and western part of Britain | The Angles lived in the eastern and northern part of Britain and the Jutes settled in the Isle of Wight

4: The Anglo, Saxon, Jutes joined together to defeat the Britain's. | After they had defeated the Britain's they became one and was called the Anglo-Saxons | In the war the wealthy warriors used swords while the poor used only the spear.

5: Even though the Anglo-Saxons had won the war over the Brittan's | they had controversies there own one which included religion.

6: After there controversy over religion the Anglo-Saxons decided to convert Christianity into there religious beliefs while paganism was still the Anglos-Saxons strongest religion

7: During the ninth century the Anglo-Saxons had divided up there country in Britain to four kingdoms. These kingdoms where called the Northumbria, Mercia, East Anglia and Wessex

8: All of the four kingdoms had the same barbaric qualities, which led to the kingdoms vanish.

9: The Anglo-Saxon was the earliest period that provided a government, culture, and literature.

10: While the written language was still developing in the early ages; Anglo-Saxons only had two different types of literature which was Christianity and Heroic Poetry.

11: Beowulf the largest surviving poetry language, It was a saga that was told down from generation to generation.
