FC: Animal Habitats and Their Adaptations By Imogen Hofer
1: The Rain Forest Habitat The rain forest is full of tall trees with lots of vines. The forest is hot. It rains there a lot.
2: The orangutan lives in the rain forest. Their adaptation is long arms. Their arms help them swing from tree to tree.
3: Gorillas live in the rain forest too. A gorilla's adaptation is their fingers. They are very long, so the gorilla can pick up bugs.
4: This monkey has a long tail. They use the tail to hang from the branches.
5: Ocean The ocean is full of different sea creatures. It has lots of water.
6: The Starfish | Starfish have spikes that help them hang onto rocks.
7: The stingray has gills to help it breathe underwater.
8: The Grasslands The grassland has only a little trees. There is only really short grass. It is hot and dusty.
9: Giraffes live in the grassland. Their adaptation is their neck. It is long, so they can reach the leaves in the trees.
10: The ostrich has long legs and necks. Its legs are long, so they can outrun predators. The neck is long so it can pick up bugs.
11: The zebra's adaptation is its stripes.
12: The tiger has stripes to help it blend into the grass. It also have sharp teeth and claws to help it with it's prey.
13: Elephants have long trunks and big ears. The trunk helps it pick up things and get water. The ears help keep it cool.
14: The cheetah has sharp claws to help capture it's prey. It is spotted so it can blend in.
15: The meerkat makes a borrow to live in. It lives underground, so it can hide from predators.
16: The Wetlands The wetlands are swampy. There are lots of insects there.
17: The Hippopotamus | The hippopotamus is fat. This helps it sink to the bottom of the river, so it can run on the bottom.
18: The flamingo's adaptation is their neck. They have to catch fish.
19: The Mountains The mountain is made of lots of rocks and boulders. They are tall. They sometimes have snow at the top.
20: The mountain goat has hooves to help walk on the rocks. The horns help it protect themselves.
21: The eagle has a sharp beak to help catch it's prey. It also has claws that help it hang onto branches.
