1: Beverly Bunn was born on April 12, 1916 in Mcminnville, Oregon. She lived on a farm until she was old enough to go to school.

2: Beverly Bunn's small town had no library until her mom stepped in and opened a library.In the first grade she was in the black bird reading cub, a club for slow readers.

3: One boring rainy day there was nothing to do, Beverly was thriving for something to do, So she picked up the book, The Dutch twins, and was instantly hooked on reading.

4: Beverly went to Berkley, a college in California, She got her B.A. degree in librarianship in 1939. After college her first job was a librarian and she read to kids in the library.

5: For being a writer you need inspiration. A librarian had told Beverly she'd be a great writer for kids. That idea stuck with her, and her mom gave her the idea for her style of writing funny and heartfelt. Those two inspirations sparked her writing career.

6: Beverly took up the writing idea, and published her first book, Henry Huggins. Now she has written more than 30 books, 3 of them won Newbury Honor and she won 35 awards state wide.

7: Beverly usually writes about kids growing up and the challenges they face growing up. The personalities of the main characters are based on kids she grew up with, she just changes their names.

8: Beverly's other awards include the 2003 National Medal of Arts, The John Newbury award for Dear Mr. Henshaw, and 1978 and 1982 Newbury Honor book. She was also said to be a living legend, voted by he young readers. Even the library of congress praises her.

9: Her advice for young readers is to ask for any tips on writing, and read a lot when you grow up, So you can develop your own style of writing. She also says to treat writing as a pleasure not something your forced to do.

10: Beverly is currently married to Clarence Cleary, Thats why she changed her last name to Cleary, She also has a pair of twins Marianne, andMalcolm.

11: Later on in Beverly's writing career she wrote 2 autobiography's, A Girl From Yamhill, and My Own Two Feet. Plus her books are so well known that she has a sculpture garden dedicated to all the characters in her books.

12: In addition to writing Beverly spends her time traveling and doing needle work. She currently resides in Carmel, California.

13: Beverly is 96 years old , and even though her husband passed in 2004, she still continues to write.

15: The Book I read when I was younger was Socks. This is a family tale that has a lot of laughs, and a great book for kids

16: Socks is a cat that lives with his owners, the Brickers family.He is loved, fed, and treated like a baby.

17: Then Mrs.Bricker gets pregnant. Socks is afraid that the Brickers wont have time for him. Then Charles William Bricker is born.

18: Socks realizes that he isn't getting the attention he used to receive. All the attention is focused on Charles. Socks will do anything for attention.
