S: Taxonomy

FC: Taxonomy, Life, Llamas, a Sweede, a cat, and a dog. | 2011 | Aaron Asbury | Honors Biology

A long long time ago in a land far far away a man named Carolus Linneas started to classify plants and animals.

He named things with BINOMIAL NOMENCLATURE or with 2 names mostly in Latin. | This Llamas Binomial name is Lama glama (I just call him Ralph)

Linnaeus began classifying by physical characteristics. | "Old man with stupid wig and a funny coat" Now people name based on genetics and false Latin. "Homo Sapien Sapien." | He also began grouping things into categories.

The biggest groups are called Domains | Bacteria, Archea, and Eukaryota (You and I)

"The Domain Archea consists of single celled things without nuclei also but these guys are X-Treme They live in the weirdest places ever. Like OLD FAITHFUL in BOILING water or ANTARCTICA in the FROZEN plains. These guys are weird. | The Domain Bacteria consists of unicellular things that don't have a nucleus. Such as Bacteria (obviously)

Finally us. Eukaryotes are any life form that has a Nucleus. We can be uni-(one) or Multi-(more than one) cellular. | This guy. | These guys. | This cool dude.

Eukaryotes (or protists) can be broken into four categories or kingdoms. Plantae Animalia, Fungi, and Protista. | Plantae | Animalia | Fungi | Protista

The Bacteria domain is much less divided. They have the one Kingdom Eubateria | Tough Fellas | Domain Archea also has only one kingdom = Archebacteria Pretty original.

It may be pretty confusing to remember the different levels but theres a neat acronym to remember. | King Phillip Came Over For Great/Grape Soup/Soda
