FC: Afghanistan War Part IV By: Johanna, Mattie,Elena, Nicole, Alyssa, David

1: With the Afghan War there are a few major groups involved in different acts on either side. Such as NATO, ISAF, UNAMA, and the Red Cross

2: The main role for NATO in Afghanistan to assist the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The US and NATO allies have launched regular attacks in Pakistan and Afghanistan . Establishing a legitimate government is outside of NATO's core mission. | It's helping the government through stretching its authority and influence across the country. The UN mandated ISAF. | North Atlantic Treaty Organization

3: This assists the Afghan authorities with providing security and stability. This helps provide conditions for reconstruction and development | They substantially increase the numbers of Afghan security forces. They collect illegal weapons, ammunition from armed groups and individuals. Thus the weapons are destroyed . | International Security Assistance Force | Run by the United nations, the groups have increased from 5,000 to 100,000 troops in 46 countries. Invasions that were enforced were to find members of Al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden.

4: This group, the CPAU, was declared in 2005 as the most peaceful district in Afghanistan. This organization provides funding for the peace council. | Coalition for Peace and Unity in Afghanistan | Most of their participation is directed towards local citizens rather than groups. They try to prevent militias from invading local areas.

5: The Red Cross provides medical care for wounded, sick, or captured military personnel and civilians. They are able to serve everyone involved in the conflict by communicating with all groups, which allows them to keep a neutral position. | Red Cross | Along with medical services, they have offices that allow U.S soldiers to rest and receive care packages from their families

6: UNAMA was established March 28, 2002 by the UN Security Council. | United Nations Assistance Mission for Afghanistan | UNAMA provides political advice for the peace process, international engagement in the country, and assisted the government when they were trying to work out the 5 year strategy to rebuild the country. | UNAMA also managed the recovery, relief, reconstruction, and development activities in Afghanistan.
