BC: He gripped the note in his hands, frustrated as he drove back home. He never returned to the woods, and Michael and his parents assumed he had passed due to either starvation or lack of water consumption. Some teenagers and a guardian were claimed to have found a man with no pulse not too far off from the woods. Some believe it was Michael, but no one can be sure. The journey he made will remain a mystery to his friends, family and everyone who had heard the story.
FC: Camping trip gone wrong
As the door swung open, John leaped up from off the couch to greet his father. John cleared his throat and spoke up, "Hey, dad can Michael come with us on our trip? I think it would be cool if he tagged along." He set his briefcase down, and out his hand on his sons shoulder. "Listen, son..." "Let me guess, you are busy, again although you promised we would go this year,"he complained as he preceded to his bedroom. "Afraid so... ask your mother," he reassured. He slams his door shut, loud enough for his father know he was not happy. John plopped down into his office chair and wondered how he could persuade his parents into letting him... He heard a pounding on his door, interrupting his thought process. The loud, obnoxious knocking made him think his dad came to give him another father-to-son life lesson or a pep talk. He stood up, hesitantly opening his bedroom door.
"Hey, man. Took ya` long enough to get to the door," his brother said as he scurried past John. "I wanted to ask you something. You wanna chill next weekend?" "I don't know man, depends. I was gonna go camping with dad, but once again, he is busy. But I`m not surprised. In fact, I predicted it would be the same exact thing as last year. And there is no way mom can handle a camping trip unless we camped in a mall," he rambled. "Wait! Michael, we should go camping. How `bout it? And it doesn't have to be this weekend, it can be any time you are free." Michael shrugged, and took a deep breath as he said, "I wish I could help, but my schedule is all booked up. Maybe some other time." Before John could respond, his brother had already walked out the door. So he just went to bed.
The next morning was not any better. He only got about a hour of sleep after he was supposed to wake up which nearly made him late to the bus stop. He sprung out of bed, nearly stumbled as he grabbed the closest t-shirt, jeans and sneakers he could find. He scrambled out the door, running and not looking back as he approached the surprisingly empty bus stop. He checked his clock and noticed the date. It was Sunday. Without a word, he walked home and just went back to sleep the way he was.
Friday night John opened his closet and searched for his bag then packed the essentials for the next two nights including food, water, a sleeping bag and a tent. Just because no one else can go, doesn't mean I should wait up for them. I have waited long enough, he thought. So, on Friday night, He waited for his parents to go upstairs and fall asleep, then he snuck out.
He quickly knelt down, almost to the point where he was sitting, when he got outside. He tried not to make sudden, obvious movements as he approached the cement sidewalk. After he passed the elementary school, it was much easier to sneak around now that he is in the less populated area of the neighborhood.
He stumbled and his eyes didn't want to stay open when he finally found a camping spot, he started setting up his tent, and while doing so, he fell asleep. John woke to his phone vibrating in his jeans` pocket and as he unlocked his phone, there were 4 missed calls from his father, which did not come as a shock to him at all. His father was not what some people would call 'laid back'. He was tough and mean, always gets his way and he knew the moment he left the house, that he was in huge trouble.
John decided to ignore the phone calls from his dad, instead he called his brother. He answered, " Dude where have you been! Where are you, dad is furious and mom is worried sick!" "Chill out, I`m fine. I am just camping... Just because dad didn't keep his promise, doesn't mean I`m not going camping. I`m not very far, just a couple miles. You should come." "John, i don't think you relieze, but you are in so much trouble. And just a couple miles! I don't really have a choice, I`m coming over there to pick you up and we are going home."
"You wouldn't understand, you get whatever you want and you can go wherever you want to, but i have no freedom and the one time I escape from the house, I am brought back immediately and punished. Even you are turning against me, and i thought you were different and you understood me! But i guess not. I can`t believe this.. Don`t bother trying to find me, I`m staying here and i have everything I need!", he whined as he hung up and shoved his phone into his bag. he stomped as he walked away from his tent and belongings. That argument John and Michael had that Saturday evening, was the last they have heard from him.
After Michael had searched desperately, yet found no trace of him. He tried calling him several times and not long after, he found his cell phone along with a note. Michael`s eyes widened and he rushed over and stumbled as he fell to the ground and unfolded the note that read: If you are reading this, I am gone. I ran way and I do not intend on returning home, I would much prefer to travel and explore on my own. And if you were wise, you would have joined me. But its too late now, because you are stuck in the harsh and busy world and there is no escape from it. Try to find me all you want, i can be anywhere. i may be hiding behind a tree and seeing your reaction as you read this, or i could be hours away. Well it was nice knowing you, but you don`t know me as well as you thought. John
