2: Toronto, Canada Spring Break March 30 - April 2, 2013 Phil & Wanda Parsons The Cats Thomas and Murphy Saturday, March 30 Sunny and cool Spent Friday night with LeAnne & Ethan and Gordon took us to National for our flight to Toronto. Up at 3:45. Showered and dressed. Security took longer than ever before but got thru and went to our gate. Boarded Canada Air flight 301 around 6:00. Landed in Toronto around 7:20 am and went through customs. Canada’s custom agents were quite rude. Got our luggage and went to meet Wanda and Phil. Surprised them by wearing our lovely red beanies with propellers. Breakfast at Second Cup. Strong coffee and delicious almond croissants Visited at the coffee shop then drove down town to walk around and see Toronto. We walked through the Path, which is downtown Toronto’s underground walkway linking stores, services, subway, and entertainment. It allows shoppers and workers to get to their destination without being in the weather. http://www.toronto.ca/path/ Walked to the CN Tower and took the elevator up to the restaurant where we had a delicious lunch at 360 while the restaurant revolved 360 degrees to see the sites. Beautiful restaurant and delicious food. M- Caesar salad, rainbow trout, green beans, baby potatoes and chocolate tower with warm dried fruit, merlot, and coffee. Joe roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, merlot, Caesar and chocolate tower. After lunch we viewed Toronto from the inside and outside viewing decks. The inside deck has glass floors that allow you to see all 113 stories down. Walked around Toronto some more, took subway to an underground mall and walked around. Looked like a mall in the US. On the way back on the subway Mollye missed the hand rail and almost fell down on the train. Scary! Luckily, Joe caught me!! Drove 90 minutes back to their house in Cambridge. Visited while Phil made a delicious lasagna dinner. Then we visited until about 10:30. Wonderful first day, but exhausted!
3: Easter Sunday March 31, 2013 Cool and cloudy Up and visited until about 10:00. Cora's for breakfast. Delicious. French Restaurant known for crepes and fresh fruit. Had French toast made from brioche and four crepes covered in fresh fruit. So good. Got to Terry and Chris's in Whitby about 1:15. So good to see them and Laura. Got a group picture with our beanies. Lots of drinking, laughing and eating!! Terry made prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, Brussels sprouts, carrots and broccoli, mashed potatoes, and roasted potatoes which she called "roasties". Salad course at the beginning was lox with a dollop of whole grain mustard, 4 shrimp, lettuce mixture, avocado and lime wedge. Delicious meal with raspberry trifle for dessert. Visited until 11:30 then left for the 90-minute ride back to Cambridge. Bed by 1:01. Another great day!!!

22: Monday, Niagara Falls! April 1, 2013 Sunny, cold, windy and snowing, too!!! Breakfast at Tim Hortons--coffee and maple, cinnamon French toast bagels with cream cheese. OMG! Went to Niagara Falls. So cool!! Very very cold and windy. Mist was like rain. Took lots of pictures. Bought t shirts and hoodies at the guest center gift shop. Joe got his Canada mug. Wanda and Phil bought us a beautiful Niagara Falls Christmas ornament. Left and drove to Niagara on the Lake to see the lake front homes and the little artsy shops like Fredericksburg. Best Christmas store, Just Christmas. Bought everyone ornaments then found a beautiful Santa tea set for me. They are shipping it home. Wanda and Phil bought us personalized ornaments for “Demented Elf” and “Biscuit Butt”. They will hang with pride in the Delaware room! Then to lunch at The Olde Angel Inn where Captain Swayze, a Redcoat, was walled up in the basement of the inn to die. Delicious British food. Mollye and Wanda had Guiness to go with our British meal. Everyone had Fish and Chips and Mollye had the Ploughman's lunch. Pork pie, fruit and vegies with dip, chunks of cheese, hard roll with butter, piccalilli, crackers. So good. Walked around town after lunch. Bought a purse. Then left to go to wineries. Wine tasting at Jackson Triggs. Tried ice wine for the first time. Vineyard leaves grapes on stems once they freeze. Grapes must stay frozen for three consecutive days. Then they are picked at midnight. The juice gets concentrated so the wine is sweeter and thicker. Sort of like a sherry. It's a dessert wine. Bought a Cabernet ice wine to take home. Refrigerate any left overs for up to 4 months. Serving size is 1-2 oz. Back to Wanda and Phil's. changed and visited in their family room all evening with wine and snacks. Visited until 11:30 because Phil had to go to bed because he had to work Tuesday. Tuesday April 2, 2013 Cold, windy, sunny and snowing again Visited Wanda for a while in our pjs. Then packed and left to got to Tim Hortons again for bagels. Wanda's friend that works there gave us mugs to take home--so LeAnne and Ethan will be jealous. Got to the airport and checked in hoping to be able to sit and talk to Wanda, but they made us go to security. So we said a sad goodbye and left Wanda. We got to the airport 4 hours early because of the security checks back into the States. We got through security and then had a 3-hour wait. Four hours might be a little overkill! Had a wonderful time with our Canadian friends and can't wait to see them again. Arrived in DC on time. Pretty bumpy takeoff and landing. LeAnne and Ethan picked us up from National and we went to Lost Dog for supper. Back to their apt to visit.
