1: Cassandra Clare was born in Tehran, Iran. Cassandra spent her childhood traveling the world with her family.

2: By the time she was in high school, Cassandra always had a book around. She worked on different tabloids where she reported on Brad and Angelina's world travels and Brittany Spears' wardrobe malfunctions.

4: Cassandra's favorite food is chocolate of any kind. Cassandra's favorite books are The Lord of the Rings series by J.R.R. Tolkien.

5: The idea of working alone is absolutely repulsive to Cassandra. Cassandra's favorite album is The Joshua Tree.

6: Reality t.v. shows are Cassandra's favorite type of shows. Cassandra also likes to work in the company of her friends.

7: Cassandra likes to work in coffee shops and restaurants. The first book Cassandra wrote, The City of Bones, was inspired by the urban landscape of her favorite city, Manhattan.

8: Before she was ten, Cassandra had lived in France, England, and Switzerland. | When Cassandra was a toddler, she went with her father on a trek through the Himalayas and she spent six months living in her father's backpack.

9: During her high school years, Cassandra used to write stories to amuse her classmates, including a novel called The Beautiful Cassandra based on a Jane Austen short story of the same name. | Cassandra started writing books at the age of twelve and they were all horrible!

10: The first book Cassandra wrote as a professional author was The Girl's Guide to Defeating the Dark Lord. | For her books, Cassandra researched not only western mythology but also world mythology.

11: Whenever she is writing, Cassandra always listens to music. Cassandra is called Cassie by her friends.

12: Although she didn't know that she wanted to be an author at first, Cassandra has always loved to read and write.

13: Cassandra loves the Victorian era. While writing the Infernal Devices(set in the Victorian era,) Cassandra walked all the routes she expected her characters to walk.

14: Cassandra got the idea for the Infernal Devices before she got the idea for the Mortal Instruments even though she wrote the Mortal Instruments first. For six months, Cassandra only read books set in or written during the Victorian period to get the idea for the Infernal Devices.

17: Set in the Victorian era, a young girl from New York(Tessa Grey) goes to London to see her brother, her only surviving family member.

18: Instead, Tessa learns that the whole trip was a setup and gets kidnapped by two warlocks who introduce her to her rare ability, to shape shift.

19: Tessa is later on rescued by two boys, William (Will) Herondale and James(Jem) Carstairs, the boys are shadowhunters(a type of police for the dwonworlders,) or nephlims. Together, Tessa and the shadowhunters of London(Henry, Charlotte, and Jessamaine) try to find an enemy with a very twisted past and Tessa's brother.
