BC: This book is but a small sampling of the thousands of pictures taken by me, Jeremy, and Gordo (yes he took pictures too) during our stay at Huntington Beach. They appear in chronological order. Lucy and Gordo had steak or cheeseburgers for dinner almost every night. And Gordo always slept right by her side. In loving memory of Lucy April 16, 2001 – October 20, 2013

1: We arrived at sunset to the timeless sand as a wave a lifetime in the making broke at our feet and circled our paws inspiring runs and splashes and smiles and warmth and when the light was finally fading we felt, we focused, and we followed Lucy’s footprints forward sweet Lucy led us home We returned the next day full of smiles and warmth welcomed in by the ocean greeted back like long-lost friends and we played for hours lost in a carnival of nature carried on by the sun-drenched tide and when the rays were finally fading we focused, we felt, and we followed Lucy’s footprints forward sweet Lucy led us home And the days turned into weeks and the weeks lost track of time as the sky clapped at our fun and the sun winked at the horizon planning yet another display of fireworks another parting gift basket of hope to carry off with our blankets of now | and when the final flares were falling we felt, we followed, and we focused on Lucy’s footprints forward sweet Lucy led us home We arrived at sunset to the timeless sand as a wave a lifetime in the making broke at our feet and circled our paws inspiring joy and splashes of forever memories both framed and wholly free and when the light was finally fading we felt we focused we followed sweet Lucy’s footprints forward sweet Lucy led us home | Sweet Lucy by Jeremy
124: When I took this picture of Lucy I didn't know it would be the last picture I would ever take of my beautiful girl. Looking at it now it seems so perfectly appropriate, magical even, like so many moments on this amazing adventure we shared with our boys. I am so grateful that we listened to Lucy, and allowed our day at the beach to blossom into three unforgettable weeks of joy. Thank you for that gift, sweet girl, and for the countless mornings I got to wake up to your unconditional love. You truly were the light of my life and I will carry you in my heart forever.
