2: What is Christianity? | -Christianity is a monotheistic religion, meaning there is only one god. -It is based on the teachings of Jesus as Christ or Messiah. -Christianity teaches that Jesus is the Son of God and the savior of human kind.

3: -The three largest groups of Christianity are: 1. Roman Catholics 2. Eastern Orthodox 3. Denominations of Protestantism | -There are approximately 38,000 different denominations of Christianity. | St. Peter's Basicila in Rome

4: Roots of Christianity | Christianity began as a Jewish sect in the mid- 1st century. It originated in the eastern Mediterranean coast of the Middle East, which quickly spread to Syria, Mesopotamia, Asia, and Egypt.

5: Christianity began about 2000 years ago in Judea with Jesus Christ and his faithful group of disciples. | The earliest followers of Jesus composed of an apocalyptic, Second Temple Jewish sect, which is commonly referred to as Jewish Christianity. | The year one is the first year in the Christian calendar . This year is the year that Jesus was born, although there are several debates that Jesus was born earlier on.

6: The Bible | The holy book of Christianity is the Bible. | -The Bible is divided into two parts: the Old Testament and New Testament. - The Old Testament includes the Hebrew scripture of Judaism. The New Testament includes the stories and teachings of Jesus Christ

7: -Different denominations have different numbers of books. -The number of books ranges from 66 in the Protestant Bible to 84 books in the Eastern Orthodox Bible

8: Jesus Christ | Christians believe that Jesus is the human form, or incarnate, of God and was fully human and fully divine. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary. People believed that Jesus could perform miracles and founded the Church.

9: Christian Beliefs | There are four main points of Christianity: | -Belief in God the father, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Holy Spirit. This group is called the Trinity. -The death, descent into Hell, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. -Holiness of the Church and the communion of Saints. -Christ's second coming, the Day of Judgment, and salvation of the faith.

10: Crucifixion and Resurrection | Christians believe in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day, | The night before the crucifixion of Jesus, He ate an early-evening Passover meal. That night, he was betrayed by his close friend, Judas. Jesus was arrested. | The next morning, Jesus was brought before Pilate the governor. He was crucified and died around 3 PM. Three days later, Jesus rose again around sunset.

11: Salvation | Christians believe that all humans can be saved from sin and death. | Salvation comes by Jesus' substitution of death and resurrection. | Christians have different views on whether a person's salvation is pre-ordained by God.
